Yamaha BB425 in vintage White. Features an Alder body, 5 piece Nato and Maple neck,with a rosewood fingerboard,45° angle through body stringing and ceramic P/J pickups. The neck is fairly slim with a nice wide string spacing so very comfortable to play,with a lovely Satin finish. I have added the Yamaha vintage plus bridge to this,which are found on the more expensive high end BB 2025/BBP35 models (these are over £100 alone),that with the through body stringing provides a lot more stability,which really improves the B string. The saddles on these are two way as well which give more tonal options. The quality of these basses is indisputable, easily as good if not better than some Fenders costing three times as much, all in all it does a fantastic P bass tone. It is not lightweight,but I'll get an accurate weight later. It is in good condition except for a few dings and a curious tiny burn Mark on the back of the neck. For clarity I did have an issue with the P pickup cover,which came loose while I was lowering the pickup, the hole in the pickup cover had somehow stripped and became too big for the screw. I wrapped the screw in plumbing tape,to make the screw head wider which held the cover down perfectly. Mind you it's white so is noticeable(see pic) I don't have a case for this,however will be very well wrapped and boxed. SOLD

Just had a new Tortoise Guard made,which is a lot more red,so this is surplus. It's the original Guard from a 2006 Stingray 5HH,so has the thumbrests on the top of the pickups. It's a vintage Dark Brown Tortoise, with a Mint/Black/white/Tort ply (looks like a liquorice all sort 😂) In good condition,Just a couple of swirls as expected from a 16 year old guard. £35 incl UK only delivery

The pickguard tape works very well, it's more like an adhesive gel. Earlpilanz on EBay just made mine, so id imagine he kept the template dimensions. I had to borrow one, to send. Be aware my Friend sent me a genuine black pickguard from a 1024x and it didn't quite fit,so bear in mind if buying from Yamaha.

Unfortunately I did in a fit of "I don't need that musicman sound" I then bought a ray 5HH🙄 Rita now lives with an older gentlemen in Poland, judging by his face when he tried it, I suspect, she's now found a forever home. He even agreed to keep the name 😊

This is "Carrie" my 82 JV Squire Jazz in Olympic white. I've owned this bass for 29 years,and it literally been around the world with me. When I was at Music college in Newcastle back in 1993 I used to pass a little second hand guitar shop in the West End. One day I was passing and looked in the window and saw this absolutely gorgeous bass, with its white/tortoise combo, and I had to try it. So I went in an plugged it in, and instantly fell in love. I bartered a deal to swap it for a Hohner fretless bass and an MIJ Fender Stratocaster, with £15 my way (the bass was £160 😂) I went in the following day with my instruments and SHOCK HORROR!! The owner sold it to someone else for cash 😡🤬 so I had to carry two basses and a guitar with me all day. I was currently using an Ibanez Musician so not the end of the world. Well about 4/5 months later, I'm walking past and that Bass is in the window again, only this time it's been absolutely butchered. The Tort scratchplate had been replaced with a cheap almost home made white one, and worse still the lovely original Squire logo had been sanded off, leaving a horrible piece of ruined finish where the owner tried to put a fender sticker🙄 but it was the same bass. I went in and did a deal (£120) and it was mine, I fell deeply in love with it. I had the Bass Doc in Newcastle source an old tortoise Pick Guard and he put a 60s fender logo on and refinished the headstock (couldn't get an original Squire logo). I foolishly in my younger days,modded it,in my attempts to sound more like Marcus Miller 😂🤣 so had a badass bridge and EMGS in for a while,as well as a few different preamps. I foolishly traded the original bridge and pickups and tuners. I fairly recently restored this back to stock, with a CTS jazz loom/Gotoh reliced vintage bridge and Gotoh lollipops. I also had Nordstrand NP4's added years ago. I try not to use it so much now, due to sentimental value, but this bass,is very much a big part of me and I'll never sell it, every scratch/ding was put on by me. I'm considering having it refinished for my 50th in a couple of years,with a matched headstock 😁

Bit of pickguard tape and it's nicely secured. I got this pickguard from Earlpilanz on EBay, highly recommended 😁

Thanks Greg! I'm really pleased with it, smoother P tone than the 425 I have (it had rounds on) so suits the thumpy flats. I do prefer a pickguard for a more Fender vibe, these BB'S are so much better value though. Massive thanks to @AndyTravis for the loan of his template and general Bass advice across the board!! Love ya man 😁

So a recent NBD occurred, I was in the market for P bass, when a fellow in these very pages was selling a Tobacco burst BB1024. As I used to have a 1025,I know how good these are, at getting that P tone, so got some old Tomastiks put on. I've made a couple of cosmetic mods, in that I've had a lovely Tortoise Pickguard made, and added some Art Deco esq knobs. It has a similar vibe to the newer BB models only with IMO a more elegant Guard and body shape. Just waiting on some pickguard adhesive tape,as I don't have a drill,I can then fit it properly.

Speak to @warwickhunt I believe he's got a couple for sale. I was selling a gorgeous one not too long ago, not many were interested. I happen to prefer them to the Ray, smaller body,slimmer neck and more variation in tone.

I have the Okto Njos pedal myself,and I can honestly say, it's worth the price for the fuzz alone. It's in two parts the main fuzz, is a dynamic synthy fuzz very reminiscent of the 3 leaf Doom,in that as you play higher up the fingerboard, it introduces a subtle octave up,as well as overtones,similar to a ring mod. The Second part is a fuzzy square wave synth tone an Octave down,Very Moog like. And with a versatile octaver thrown in,this pedals a bargain,add a filter and Analog synth tones are at your disposal.

Lol when I started on bass, I was given an old violin by a neighbour,I thought it would be a cool way to get into Double bass later 🙄 I then saw a video with Jimmy Page, so decided to use the bow to play my roundwound strung bass, with a Distortion pedal on. My Dad was not a happy camper,at my early "musical" experiments. Who knew 6 years later, id be playing Agadoo in Skeg Vegas 😂

I'm sure I read many moons ago, that Mo Foster, had an ebony fingerboard from an old Double bass, grafted onto his Fender, gave it a much thicker board. This is from a dusty part of my memory and not sure whether this information is mixed up with an old episide of Minder or something 😂 Mo' s fretless tone is sublime though.

Bought an EBS Multicomp From Dave. Thoroughly nice bloke, gave me it at a good price,and paid for special delivery so I could have it in time for a band rehearsal,an absolute star. Realky well packed too,a great experience all round, thanks Dave 😁
