I've owned a 424 and currently a 425 and I think they are the best value basses ive ever played. £300-50 still gets you a bass easily equal in quality to Fenders Mexican or later Japanese models (the Early MIJ are exceptional), which are going for three times as much £££ used.

Ive recently aquired a mid 80's Yamaha BB350F fretless and put some Ernie Ball cobalt flats on it. They have that lovely smooth feel and a very bright top end, almost like a set of nickel rounds. It sounds lovely and clear, and gives me a bit more presence and (Forgive the Cliche) plenty of Mwahh 😁 They are kinder to the fingerboard, I still may put some actual nickel rounds on at some point.

I used Sunbeams for years, on various basses (JV jazz,Musicman,Warwicks,Spector) playing all styles of music (whatever i was paid to play 😁) They have a very warm sound with a nice brightness, but have that lovely pliant feel that the round cores give. I loved the sound, but felt they didn't last very long (A trait I've found with most nickel strings) so preferred the High Beams. I have stopped using DR after 25 years as they have become prohibitively expensive and I feel the quality has gone down massively.

Lovely! I've always wanted one of these in Teal.

I've just seen these! The Turquoise 5 string is pretty much my perfect bass 😍

I've got Roqsolid on my combo! Very durable and folds up nicely. It's got that flap on the bottom which I don't like though 😂

I'd even be tempted by some Tapewounds on that bass!

I think he'd been having a smoke when he set the price 😂

It's always surprising how a small thing like a pickguard change can transform the look of a bass 😁 I have a black Highway one P bass, which came with a black pickguard, I swapped it for a reliced tortoiseshell and it looks so much classier.

Mr Travis doesn't do 5's!

I've got flats on my P bass (and had them on all my P's) I keep trying flats on my jazz, even recently had EB cobalts which are very bright. I just can't get on with that sound on a jazz! To me a jazz should have that zingy hollow snap with both pickups on or that burpy punch on the back. I also love the slap sound on a jazz, and I haven't found any flats I like for slap. That being said Joe Osborne and John Paul Jones always sounded fantastic with the jazz/flats combo.

I'm sure Andy's got a few! Those fretless BB350F are fantastic,I got Andy's white one, I love it 😁

That red BB424X looks familiar!! Lovely choice of effects, but you need a bigger board 😁
