If it's just for a couple of songs then a C4 or Future Impact is overkill (although they are very addictive) a decent octave pedal will work brilliantly for "let's groove" OC2/5 etc and "can't stop the feeling" is deffo a bubbly envelope Filter so an MXR bass envelope Filter will do that. However the price of those would probably be similar to a C4 ๐ If you can find one a Digitech Bass synth Wah will work on both those for not much money๐

Mr BB Pimp Daddy!!

Didn't think you did 5's Mick ๐ Pics or it didn't happen xx

Deffo I'd love a bit of maple board BB action.

Great Thread I still can't get my head around EB bringing out a budget line and calling it Sterling (CEO vanity perhaps) I have a full fat EB USA Sterling, and it's sublime. The quality of the finish and the very slim neck as well as very sturdy high Quality hardware make it a joy to play. I owned it years ago and part traded it, I was very lucky to manage to get it back. It has a one piece Ash body with very unique grain and a matched headstock. It was modded by a previous owner with a Nordstrand vintage pickup, So it has the vintage voiced Alnico pickup, making it sound closer to a Stingray. I occasionally think I could sell it and get one off the far East Sterling SB and unlock some cash, but then I pick it up and I know id regret it. The USA made Sterlings are so well made and as stated smaller bodies and thin necks, great for smaller fellows like me ๐ also they are good enough for Joe Dart etc ๐

Mine was a short scale Arbiter SG style. I thought it was great, even though it wasn't. I replaced it with a MIJ Vantage after a short time, and o gave the Arbiter to a mate, who pulled it to bits to see how it worked. I bet if I went to his mum and Dads its probably still in the attic in bits๐ It looked like this, only mine was grey

I'd love to Bas,unfortunately my budget doesn't run to that at the moment, I'd love to try the Ibanez SRH500F too.

Lol! I've always been the same, not patient enough to put the time in with fretless, so always ended up selling them. I am having very large fretless Gas at the moment though.

Cool stuff! Great to see someone just laying down a nice groove. All too often these YouTube vids turn into a "look at me" clown fest with double thumbing/tapping and allsorts of mental fills. The young lady drumming is absolutely fantastic๐

???????? Bas ..........Have you been at the catnip again ๐๐

It seems CIOKS Have upped their game. I bought a DC5 brand new as it was the only thing that would fit under my metro20 at the time. It's very underpowered and I struggle if I've a lot of digital pedals.

Ahh Bas! You clearly have too much time on your hands ๐

That's funny as I've been thinking of selling my cali76 CB to buy an optifet ๐ Depends what you want from a comp, I want gentle softening of the sound, maybe level out string pops when slapping, but mostly a magical little box, that just gives the sound a little lift ( like the Diamond,3 leaf Pwnzor,cali76 etc) if you want a hard clean limiter then I'd imagine the MXR will work well for you ๐
-
Absolutely spot on!!
-
Yeah i wish they could impart some of that in the Compact bass. One chap on here added a Hudson Broadcast to get nearer that sound, great idea.

I had the M87 I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Very transparent, attack/release controls seemed to have very little effect and by far the noisiest comp I've ever had. All purely IMO of course as the pedal has its fans. It sounded nothing like the Cali76 which adds a nice subtle sheen to your tone, (as described in ovnilab like adding a high quality preamp) its just light years ahead of the MXR in every way. I think the MXRS control set is similar to the 1176 and that's it.

Awesome board ๐

The hyper luminal looks cool! arn't the different compressor modes digitally modelled? It does have an Analog signal path, but I'd be curious to see If the FET model, is a match for my Cali76CB

That would be very much appreciated ๐

Yeah I've got the Cobalts on my old JV jazz (weeny 95-40 ones ๐) and they are lovely and bright, even slapping is nice on them. I'd imagine a heavy set, will give you what you need ๐
