Need a bit of help. My setup: Fender P>M-Audio mobile pre usb audio interface>powered usb hub>lightning to usb connector(non apple)>ipad3>jamup pro. My problem is, I'm not seeing a signal into jamup pro from the audio interface. However, Jamup the free version, and all my other audio apps like Meteor daw all work fine with the Mobile pre. I can only get Jamup pro to see an audiobus routed signal ie: Audiobus- mic input> effects Jamup pro>speaker and that works ok, but it feels a bit laggy, (could just be me). What am I doing wrong with Jamup pro that it's not seeing my direct input? I have deleted and re loaded it but no change and I didn't see any "allow jamup to access microphone) type message either. Jamup also doesn't see the mic input when all the hardware is removed. Any ideas?
Hmm, dunno. I only tried it with the sonic port and an Irig both worked straight away?
Great article, and just up my street these days. Ooo, I've got a quick question, too: how long's the iPad lead on the Sonic Port? Was going to use an iKlip on a mic stand, but I don't want the Sonic Port dangling... Cheers, M
Yeah the lead is about 60cms so its going to dangle. How 'bout velcro on the sonic port and the back of the iklip?
GGG Brassmaster. I must say that it's great. To my ears it's closer sounding to original Brassmaster than B:Assmaster that I've been using for years.
Great build, I've been meaning to do a Brassmaster. This kit looks like it could work well: http://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/BrassMaster/p847124_11795417.aspx Anyone here built one?

Ooh, I'll have a look at that too.

Just wanted to resurrect this to see if any opinions had changed or additions could be made.

I just spotted this and thought of your thread: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boss-RPW-7-Five-way-Power-Supply-for-F-X-pedals-/271432085001?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item3f329cee09
Excellent post Noir Si
Why thanks I've had so much help from people on here and the other links I posted since I started trying to build effects. I'm only too happy to pass on what I've found / learnt.
Ah okay, thank you. What (if any) are a good, simple starter pedal to try?
Hi Myke, What I would suggest if you are totally new to DIY is to get a simple kit such as this: http://shop.pedalpar...24_6346768.aspx Buy it with a pre drilled enclosure and read the instructions thoroughly. What you need to start with is some confidence builders and soldering practice. The Bass Fuss circuit is perfect. Once you have got that one built try some other kits, try drilling your own enclosures, adding mods etc. Here is loads of very useful information for the novice builder: http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/ When you feel more comfortable with soldering try some veroboard layouts: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.co.uk and buy your bits here: http://doctortweek.co.uk Best of all the DIY community are all so happy to share information, get reading here: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/ http://www.freestompboxes.org I warn you though its a slippery slope, once you start you'll soon be hunting for vintage transistors or trying to build the ultimate Klon! Check out this guy, he started off building a few simple fuzz boxes and is now hailed as a DIY king (He's a bass player too) And notably he's the guy playing the 'Ginger' in the previous post above: http://johnkvintageg...ive-Pedals.html Good luck!

Having just picked up a MkII Proton my vote goes for that. Very musical and seems to work well in my setup. I have recently tried out the MXR BEF too which I find slightly sterile although its a more versatile filter.

Just received a neck plate and screws from Graeme having placed and ad in the wanted section. Not only was this really easily sorted, but he refused to take my money. Top man, what Basschat is all about. Thanks again Chris
I've been using a laptop with Native Instruments Guitar Rig Kontrol for 5 years now which means I could take my laptop to a gig instead of multi effects (assuming I didn't mind risking some plonker spilling beer on it at some point).. I'm not clear on how the iOS is an improvement, can anyone enlighten me?
I'm not sure it is an 'improvement' just that Jamup seems a solid platform and delivers very good sounding amp models. The effects haven't impressed me that much yet. Also the fact you can use an iklip to put the iPad out if harms way also has its pluses. The thought of someone pouring a pint over my nice laptop sends shivers down my spine.
Yeah I've got that, but there's an ad200 in a bass pack in jamup that I was messing with, and thought it'd be nice to open that in bias, if you see what I mean.
Yep with you, I'd like to be able to tweak the Portaflex model. I also can't understand why they didn't put a gain and master volume on the SVT model in Jamup, but they did on Bias. The benefit of digital is that you could save a range of presets with various different gains, but the SVT model has to remain fairly clean on my Jamup otherwise I overload the output.
-
I can't see AD200 in Bias, am I missing something?
In the factory presets under bass there is a British Ad20 model on my version
Printed Circuit Board. A question for you DIY'ers - have any of you built the RunOffGroove Ginger? http://www.runoffgroove.com/ginger.html
No, but I've been meaning to for ages.
-
I only wish you could take a jamup preset model and open it in bias, like the AD200, at least until I understand bias.
Having just got Bias, it looks like you can. The package has SVT, GK RB800, Bassman and AD200 models as default. you can then edit them or create your own new ones.
-
Cool! I'm trying one of my bias models for church this morning.
What amp are you trying to model? or are you just finding combinations you like the sound of? Not sure I need Bias, but I'm always happy to spend hours tinkering and Bias seems to be all about that.

Bought a P bass body from Richard. Really easy transaction and he even delivered it to me personally.
