1.
If the B3's getting you close to the sound you want, have you considered running that into a power-amp and a decent cab?
Yep, think that might be my best bet. Certainly the cheapest as I have the ability to do this already.
Wouldnt even know how to do this ( l6T files )- I have a VT Bass though and the Basspod murders it in every way.
They are the files created when you save presets via Line 6 Edit software. Interested that you consider the POD as that much better, I shall commence further twiddling immediately.
2. Thanks for the info on Thiele Jazzneck, I have learnt a great deal from that. Geoff, the LB30 and Barefaced compact is more like I was thinking, but it seems the power stage valves are different from the B15. Would still like some similar options with valve amps and cabs like this to consider too. Ahpook, The Flipster looks cool, would be interested to hear one. Discreet and Chrismuzz, I have spent some hours with my B3 and am getting some fantastic results. I know the purists will be upset but it can sound great. 6V6, I would love to get a clone from Fliptops, but I expect it'd actually be cheaper to get an original B15N Thumperbob, I have also spent a good few hours on the Bass POD and X3 and can never get quite what I'm after. Have you any .l6t files you could send me of your efforts? Would be very interested to hear how you got on. I also fired up the V4B again today and it sounds great, but not like a B15. Has anyone got the Bass POD, Zoom B3 and a VT bass that could offer a comparison on their respective B15ishness?
3. Cheers people, many options to explore there. Exactly what I was after. I will do some reasearch and report back.
4. Cheers for the reply. The Linear Conchord and Thiele are brands I'd not come across. To answer your question the only B15N I've played through was mid sixties and stock as far as I know. It sounded amazing, thats what I'd like to try to get close to. I should add that I own a 70's V4B and from what I've read this has many similarities to the B15N. I may just need to pair that with a decent 15 cab to get what I'm after? Also, i should have said that it doesn't need to fit together like a B15N (i.e. flip top) happy to use separate head and cab. Your help as ever is greatly appreciated.
5. I'm interested in creating a fliptop on a budget. Should I go for a low wattage valve head and separate 15" cab or use amp modelling with a VT bass or similar? Key factor is to make is sound and perform as close to the original as possible without the price tag. Your thoughts and opinions please.

9. Bought Craig's CV Precision. great instrument, easy deal. Would have liked to have stayed and chatted more, but was in a rush. Cheers mate, enjoy the new NM P bass
10. Did a trade with Gavin, easy deal, Would happily deal with him again.
11. I use a Tonehammer on every gig. I tend to use passive Fenders and use the TH as a pre leaving the EQ flat unless I'm wanting more of particular frequencies. Even set flat the TH makes the natural character of the bass stand out; P's sound more P-like, J's more J-like. The AGS function when heard on its own is OK, but playing live with a band it sounds like proper tube saturation. You have to get the balance right with the Gain control otherwise you do get a distinct boost. it gets a thumbs up from me!
12. Gone, traded!
13. Still can't see the pic!

17. Beat you to it! http://basschat.co.u...0own%20p%20bass great site, spent far too much time on this.
18. Looking good, hope you are enjoying her. Thinning out the neck was a smart move, it was the chunkiest I'd ever played too.
19.
Oh My, that's stunning. You must be mad.
+1!
20. Heres a link, software at the bottom A lot more Zoom B3 patches to download and try out
21. Custom Shop Squier Bullet bass anyone?
22. I had a quick bash on one today and was greatly impressed. Whilst it was heavier than my P, it felt solid and resonant. The tone was pure 70's Precision. Well worth a look I'd say.
23.
No - they're standard jazz, i.e. one longer than t'other.
Thought so, best to let someone up grade their Jazz rather than split. Love Frailins, great price, they won't last long, have a free Christmas bump.
24. Are these identical? I'd be up for one if they are. I'm thinking back pickup for a PJ too.
