I've had some success getting a good metal distortion out of the MXR M-80 DI+, but I've caught the Darkglass bug recently too... Bit cheeky of me, but I'm selling off a modded Turbo Rat in the Effects marketplace at the minute - it wasn't quite the right tone for my zingy death metal sound, but with an old P-bass and a valve amp, I bet it would sound bloody marvellous. [/plug]

Handful of effects from my board, all in good condition and sound awesome - but that Darkglass isn't going to buy itself! MXR Bass Octave Deluxe - Spanking new condition apart from a tiny ding in the paint on the "toe" end, with original box, manual etc. - SOLD! Turbo Rat - Fearsome raw rock distortion - this one's been modded by Basschat user Protium for better low end with the original (and best, apparently) LM308 op-amp chip and a Boss-style 9V power supply socket so no faffing with funny adaptors to power the thing. Also with original box (bit tatty, but it's there!). - £70 posted Boss Chorus Ensemble - as used by bass chorus king Justin Chancellor, all the swirly goodness you'll ever need! Good condition, no box. - £55 posted. Rocktron Big Crush Compressor - Bought on a whim, I don't really get on with this box but you might have an application it would be perfect for. Plus it's cheap... - SOLD! Apologies for the dreadful mobile phone photo, I can get a better one of any of the individual pedals if you desire.

Greetings from Warwick Basses & Framus Guitars!

I don't know if this has already been addressed in the thread, but haven't seen it mentioned: Why doesn't Warwick seem to have any dealers in the UK anymore? There aren't any listed on your website, and there don't seem to be many kicking around online either. -

Well that was pretty comprehensive!
-
Ok, so they're a pretty boring but essential element in your setup - does anyone have any preferences for speaker cables from one manufacturer over any of the others? I've been looking at Bass Direct's Pro Series speakon leads, but I'm slightly sceptical at spending £35 on a 1.5m lead when I'm dubious about any real differences between the majority of leads on the market. So, anyone got ant favourite cables they want to tell the rest of us about??

Yeah I know that's an option, I just think it's a bit strange having to run a pedal called the "Bass DI+" into another DI box to get a clean DI signal
-
Does anyone know if it's possible to modify the M-80 so the DI out is before the effect, rather than after? So it could be used for a clean DI and a distortion in front of an amp at the same time?
-
Scooped, Fully-on, bit of a boost? I just discovered last night how good my Spector Legend 5 sounds with both ends of the 2-band EQ screwed fully on. Nice way to drive the front of the amp. Not convinced that this'll do the battery life any good though - and I'm a bit concerned about the 'purity' of the tone So, how do you use yours?
-
Bought two effects pedals, Paid on the monday morning and they came in the tuesday post. Very pleased!

I have a good bass and I have a good amp... Why do I need a pedal?
No you don't.
Well you don't NEED one, but if you're going to try and tune by ear in a noisy gig venue you're going to (a) struggle, and (b ) sound like a fool. -
-
I use an M-80 for distortion in front of my GK 700RB, it sounds great but I'm a bit fed up of having too many knobs to twiddle - between the Active EQ on the bass, 3-band EQ on the pedal and 4-band EQ on my amp, I never know what to adjust first! Trying to get hold of something simple and gritty like an EBS Metaldrive or EHx Bass Blogger to keep things more straightforward...
