Markbunney, I've not played the other SH basses so I can't compare. I'll take some pictures now I'm back and I'll stick it on the bathroom scales. Karl, I've got a gig in Coventry and another in Worcester over Easter weekend, if you fancy coming along, I'll bring it. (I can't gig it because Sting never used 'Arry's bass)

ok. No pics yet as I've not had the time. opened the package at approx. 4.30 and I must say, it is rather good. Fantastic paintwork, proper metal scratchplate, a bit heavy but no heavier than my Aria SBR150 I would say (I've not weighed it yet) The Hammers logo is painted on and lacquered in. The neck is a dream. Yes it is big, as big as I've played on a 70s P Bass but it's the perfect shape for me. I had a 57 reissue Les Paul that was similar. Big neck but a perfect shape. Karl, you are more than welcome to come and try it, but I'm in Dover and it's a bit of a trek but the kettle will be on. Soundwise, P bass on steroids. Flats are amazing. They have an almost roundwound zing to them but they are heavy. I love em. A very 70's contour on the back (ie not much) I'm off out again now so I will post pics later today. The fit and finish and feel of the neck are first class. If anyone dares to diss the current crop of Mex guitars I would say they don't know what theyr're talking about. £875 on interest free over 9 months, well spent. Have I been the person to buy it first in the whole of the UK?

Modman, welcome to BC. I'm almost your neighbour over in Sunny St. Margaret's. Ian Shawcross has only just retired. I played with him in the school band when I was 17 (46 now). Who do you play with Modman?
I am tempted by one though... Been an Arry fan ever since I was small! Edit: Wasn't trying to troll or anything, I was just looking at what was available on the used market and there's stuff like Prestige Ibanez's at that pricepoint. Also heard some pretty spotty things about some of Fender's quality control, but every company seems to have issues at somepoint.
That's ok if you like Ibanez etc. I love Fender P basses. I have quite a collection already. USA, Japan. If it's no good, I'll send it back
OK, I'm in!!!! I have had one on order from Thomann's since 31st January. Original date for arrival at Thomann's was 31st March. Now put back to 2nd April, so, bank holidays etc. In a nutshell, unlikely to actually receive it until probably the 13th April. Not a happy little 'Arry fan
I'm sure it'll come Karl
Up the Irons
oh yes
The SH bass comes with the 0.50 Rotosound flats right? I can imagine the flats would be very high tension. I can't even get on with the 0.45 roto flats.
It does, we'll see how it goes. I might take it to a Policed gig tomorrow night, see how it sounds during the soundcheck

Just received an email from Andertons that it's in stock. So I've bought it. Hopefully Saturday delivery (Ive paid for it) I've been an 'Arry fan since 1981, when Bruce joined the band. Maiden went to Italy to do a few gigs to get Bruce settled in. My brother's band 'The Raff' supported them on a couple of the dates. So I went and bought the first 2 albums. Loved it. I'm also a West Ham fan. I don't need another Precision, which I always think is the best reason to buy it. Pictures when it arrives

Steinberger Spirit stick bass - serious sustain
police squad replied to Jenny_Innie's topic in Bass Guitars
Occasionally I get my old Steiny XL-2 out. used to have a hohner B2A. I love the headless thing, it's cool -
Is it wrong i prefer these knobs over the other 2 styles they have.
It's the law!! no more , no less

Ampeg LO or ULTRA LO switch - who uses it?
police squad replied to JapanAxe's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'm with Lozz. PF500, set fairly flat, ultra low always on. Some or other P bass derivative (maybe the spector) but always a great sound -
I've got one of these in sunburst - first thing I did was take the scratchplate off, in a shameless tribute to him. I also swapped the cheapo knobs from some proper teacup ones, purely for aesthetic reasons. Finally, and most importatly, get some decent strings on it! It will be twice the bass it is now! Mine's wearing Hofner flats, withthe green silk windings. The bass thumps so beautifully now, it's a wonderful little thing.
I've got the Jubilee one. No pickguard, teacups and La Bella flats. It's a great sound. Great bass.

pickguard off please a la Macca. I love violin basses and one day I'll buy a German one

Chris Slade has played with almost everyone. His Facebook page has a picture of him standing with Tom Jones and Elvis. I was lucky enough to front his pub band for a charity gig a couple of years ago. Very nice chap and a great drummer. Nice to see Stevie Young using Malcolm's old Gretsch too. I thought highway to hell was a little slow tbh but that could be because I've been playing it too fast for the past 25 years!!

Can anybody identify this band/song?
police squad replied to Cameronj279's topic in General Discussion
I thought it was Japan. Very Mick Karn and David Sylvian. Very good though. really atmospheric stuff
