[/quote] You can download loads of patches from the Moog site (so I've been told by the guy selling a minitaur on ebay) I'm in no particular rush as my first Police gig (with my new Police band, I'm in 2 now) isn't till the end of November but I would like to get some practice in with it. I'll keep my eye on the Taurus on ebay though as I'm a bit of an anorak when it comes to getting the Police gear right. I've got most of the basses sting used in the Police, (well the most well known ones, Ibanez Musician Fretless, Steinberger, Fretless P bass (maple on maple), '57 replica) still looking for a spector to spray white though. KevB do you have a PK5?

these are all top tips but here's mine..... make sure you've got a couple of spare beers lined in case they get knocked over (and if they don't you best drink them before they do)

I use a PF500 through mark bass cabs. The amp is great but the horn/tweeter on the cab is positively shocking, so I keep that turned off. I do get quite a lot of comments about how good my sound is. I use mark cabs because I bought a std 1x15 and a club 1x15 for £500 the pair and they're light. I don't spend too much time getting bogged down in it all, I just get on and play. Works for me

I had a Hamer Scarab for a while. Didn't really like it. And a hohner B2A and a status 4000 and several aria basses. (currently I've got an SB-R 150 and it's spectacular.) But it's got to be the Steinberger. I've an early XL-2 with the plug in leg rest. What an incredible sound, nothing like anything else. It's just a big fundamental note. No woody harmonics jumping out, just a big fat lowness. Here's the Aria and the XL-2

me, but I'm not that famous (as you may know SB-R150) The guy in the searchers played a fretless in the early 90s (although it may have been an RSB, it was blue and I played it once and it was fantastic) Kronos from Venom used an SB1000 Jim Rodford from the Kinks used one when I saw them a good few years ago

does it have the original electrics. I ask this as I had one before that had it's electronics changed by Peter Cook. (he looked after the Who's guitars) I've always wanted to get it back!!
