He sold my brother a bright pink Jackson and had a go on a 62 P bass re-issue I'd bought in soho. He was an incredible player then. We then bumped into each at a battle of the bands thing in Folkestone. It was so badly organised that me and my band just went home!! -

Ok, so I've decided to sell my 'Sting Bass' [size=4][font=arial, helvetica, sans-serif][b]£450 including horrible fender gig bag. Delivered[/b][/font][/size] I am in a Police tribute band but nearly always play my 70s re-issue fretless and seeing as I've got a custom build '57 on order, time to move it on (I've also just ordered one of the 'union jack hofners') I bought the bass just over 5 years ago when I started gigging with my Police band. I've taken the scratchplate off and there was a wiring rout underneath it, so I made a small block and mounted the thumbrest on it. I think it looks ok (from a distance!!) It's been gigged (probably done about 40 gigs) and so is far from mint, the bridge is going rusty as is the control plate, there are a few dings and dents but overall it's ok. I always try and look after my stuff. Sound wise, it's just incredible. I read somewhere that it purrs and I think that's a great description. It's a smooth sound with a little grind to it. I've used it in depping in a classic rock band too. It really is lovely. It's got a big chunky C shaped neck and the body is lightweight ash. I don't know what year it was made, info on the net suggests anywhere between 1999 and 2002. I bought it new 5 years ago. here are some pics, PM me for more info

My wife has got a mustang bass (as well as her P Bass) and I put a set of cut down 45-105 long scale strings on it, but it still feels sloppy. I presume this is because of the shorter scale (I can't play my Les Paul with 9-42 because it feels sloppy, but s strat is fine) Do I need to go heavier than 45-105? advice welcome, but I may start another thread

Cricket is up and down so far. Played 4 , won 2 convincigly and been hammered once (all out 35, lost by 10 wkts) then recently lost by 20 runs . How's yours? I'm sure you'll get back what you paid for it. Bring on the union jack!!

[/quote] No it'll go on the wall, we're not really into short scale basses, they feel too sloppy. I had a hofner CT500/1 until very recently. I sold it to finance my Steinberger XL2. Sold it to another basschatter. I've already got a replica of the Shea Stadium jacket, actually, the whole suit, which I bought when we got married and I'm sure there will be plenty of plastic hats in the bin!! Looking forward to getting it, always loved the violin shape (probably because I grew up playing fiddle from the age of 6)

if you google the union jack thing, Hofner have made a few custom shop ones with the flag. anyway my wife told me to order the Union Jack bass last night as it might be collectable, so I ordered it this morning It's fantastic being a bass player that's married to another bass player

I was using a PF500 until it went wrong and now I've gone back to my hartke ha3500. I'm shocked how good the hartke still is. (it's heavy etc) but a great sound. Lucky to have it as a spare. Lookng forward to getting the ampeg back. Hopefully it won't go wrong again

[u]I [/u]heard an interview with AL on radio 2 a while back. He said all the lawyers kept on at him to sue etc etc and he really lost his way with it. Rick loved Alan's mum (they used to all be mates) and Al lost his mum, and I think that's when they started talking again. (a bit like Weller and Foxton). I commend quo for all that they have done, (I loved margharita time and all that pop stuff, it was just pop music) and I wish them all well for the future. Quo are an enigma for me. Everyone (well the idiots in the pub) takes the piss out of them for their lack of ability etc, but I have NEVER seen a pub band cover a quo song well/properly. No one seems to understand the importance of Rick's rythmn guitar or open tunings. Look forward to the tour and new album (last quo album I bought was in about 1988. Ain't complaining!) -

Here's a couple of shots of my bitsa telecaster that I put together about 6 years ago. As you may know, I'm in a Police Tribute band, so I decided to get my Tele, 'Andy Summers', by the chaps at the painted player, [url="http://www.thepaintedplayer.co.uk"]www.thepaintedplayer.co.uk[/url] They added the brass bridge (including the crack), mounted the pickup direct to the wood, phase reversal switch and on board pre amp. anyway enjoy,

I bought on line, but it was shipped from Barnet. I've just spoken to Barnet and explained to them and he said he would phone the on line part and try and get them to swap for a new one, after all, he said, we've got 11 in stock. Still, I'm not holding out much hope. It's not like I want my money back because I don't like it, far from it. I think it's a great sounding amp for my purposes. I'll keep you posted on what happens

a quick and crap update, Tried it in the studio, running two mark bass cabs into 4 ohms, same problem after about 5 minutes. Digital village won't swap it because it's outside of their 30 day plan. could take 2-4 weeks to fix. That is crap customer support/service. what I have learned is that I won't be using digital village again!!

my bass came from hendrix in Italy, the receipt is still in the case. My brother lives in Italy and says Hendrix are very good. The serial number puts it to november 1984. Very much transitional as far I can make out. Plays great, but I haven't plugged it in yet, maybe tomorrow as I'm just off to play cricket

Found this on the net for sale at Bass Direct. I've always wanted a 'berger for my Police Tribute band (think Gateshead gig in '82) It was quite a lot of money BUT, OMG, it's almost immaculate. Almost too good to gig, (b*gger that, I'm going to use it anyway) Still, here's few shots for you. It's november '84 and still has the plug in leg rest. It's quite a difficult thing to photograph seeing as there's no fancy wood, it's black!!

(trying to collect/ make/ aquire the guitars used by The Police / Sting for my tribute band) and as such keep buying things for it, including A 1984 Steinberger XL2, A Bravewood '55 P Bass replica, Stagg EUB, 1983 Squire '62 P bass and I've even Andy Summerised by Telecaster custom, (please don't tell my Andy Summers, it's a surprise for our next gig).[/sup] [sup]I've dealt with silly offers, but I stuck with it and have got everything I wanted, (in fact some of the guitars I sold fetched far more than I expected)[/sup]
