  1. my 80s duo has about a hundred songs. I switch them about a fair bit but since the keys player has been on shifts, we haven't learned anything new for about a year The 80s band though has the same set from its conception 4 years ago. We've added 3 or 4 more since then and can leave or add them in. Police tribute is pretty much the same songs learned when I started it 17 years ago. But it's more than 2 x 45 minuts sets, so can switch numbers in and out
  2. I have an almost immaculate P bass special from about 1981, I had this as my lounge bass but realised that I was starting to gouge ths one as well, so put it away. Good band name Gouged Out!!
  3. I wonder if the custom shop could replicate this bass of mine The wear under the G string is casued by my third finger digging in when I play with a pick (mostly I play with a pick) This bass has done a lot of gigs in its 34 years with me. The wood is actually gouged out, not just the finish It's actually a '73 not a'75 (I have the original bridge with the long screw for the G string intonation)
  4. when I was making guitar amps, I had a trade account with them. When testing new things on the amps, always put a fresh set on roto yellows on which ever guitars I was using. Had many sets of RS66 too. that was 18 ish years ago. Great strings
  5. I had a set but they were too stiff for me, switched to Fender flats 45-100
  6. I worked with a bloke who was going to buy the 'First Class' monika. luckily it didn't happen
  7. most useful purchase was the MI-PRO 58 wireless IEM system Most not used, Ashdown preamp pedal, it's a great bit of kit but not used in anger (yet) Most interesting must be my early 1964 Hofner 500/1 beatle bass and not bass related, my Brain May 'Super' red special
  8. 30 to 40 per year for me these days. Used to be about a hundred for many years but over the last 15 years down to about 50 a year, but I'm finding more time off is better
  9. I'm sending my show reel in, thanks for the heads up😀
  10. yes I did pay duty and vat. It was still a good solution at the time. I read somewhere that they were still active, so maybe their website does need updating
  11. Hi Ian my wife put these on her Precision, 11 years ago https://fretfx.com/ they worked very well but we had to get a replacement as one LED went out. It was replaced under warranty but the glue pulled the nitro laquer from the neck. It didnt matter because the new one covered it over hope you're ok matey
  12. also Meet Loaf on his 'farewell tour' as few years ago His voice was shocking but the backing singer carried him through and the band were on fire. This was at the o2 and the second set was Bat out of hell in its entirity
  13. no same bassist, he's excellent I went the year before and it was tune after tune, slick as hell. But this year just was a bit disappointing. I'm a huge It Bites fan too. Too much waffling between songs, as funny as Frank can be though, I just wanted songs
  14. it's so nice to hear that I'm not the only one We are a team, best freinds etc. She also plays bass and we've done two bands together. Our house is full of gear too. The support she gave me when I slipped a disc was heroic She was also right by my side when I was learning the Bucks Fizz stuff for my audition. Helping me with dance moves etc Lockdown was fabulous
  15. i saw the searchers last year and they were fabulous, weird isn't it Dr and the Medics, in the 80s. awful Francis Dunnery recently in Islington. Band wern't very slick as the line up had changed, Chad Wakkerman on drums was good though
  16. fabulous basses these. Great neck on them but sadly too heavy for me these days
  17. I picked up a nearly new RM 4x10 the 8 ohm one, off ebay, nearly 2 years ago. 100 quid. It was nearly Christmas which isn't a good time to sell. It's a great cab
  18. difficult to know with this stuff, it was cheap, so I took a punt and it's ok. It has done quite a few gigs but is now retired and hanging on the wall
  19. I bought one from ey guitar parts. Fretless maple. It was/is fine. Used it in my Police tribute The dots are in the wrong place, they are in between the frets like a fretted bass, so I got my tech to add some more in the right place (in black, the original ones were white) worth a punt I woud say
  20. way back in the late 80s I was playing a JayDee Mark King bass. Didn't really have a clue what I had and would love to try it now. But my first P Bass was the milestone bass for me. I realised in about 1988 that was the sound I needed. Several P basses later and they are still the sound I love the best, even though I mostly play a JMJ Mustang. I did have an epic Steinberger XL2 for a bit. Again, a bit of a game changer back in the day and a very impressive bit of kit
  21. She has a truly exceptional voice, great songs too
