I'll be honest, I don't really like it. I'm not a Kiss fan but I certainly respect them and their catalogue I'll be passing on that bass.

I had all my diaries from when I started gigging. All the venues, how much we got paid etc. 1986 to 2000. They got lost in a house move which turned into a divorce. We still got on but it was a long time before I discovered they had gone to her and in the end I didn't aske her for them. I still have everything from 2000 onwards though

yep I've done it too. It also looks good if it's unlined

not these days. My 80s duo and band both have FB pages. Sometimes I create an event and invite people but mostly I don't these days. Sometimes someone will share a phone video from a gig and I might put that on the page My Americana Revue band is much more professional. Videos of Ben Mills (the singer from X Factor) talking up the gigs, maybe singing with his acoustic. There's a website too. Gigs all advertised on FB, personal pages etc. The Band Leader is trying his utmost to make this a success, which I really hope it does. I'm really looking forward to playing with these class musicians

When did you realise….. you weren’t going to “make it”?

I've been gigging since 1986. In about 1987/88 I was in a really good pub band. We wrote a couple of songs, has an exeptional front man (great singer too) and did 4 gigs a week, all over Kent and some in East Sussex. Sometimes people would recognise me, whilst out shopping etc. It was quite a buzz for a 19 year old me. I'm now slightly embaressed when people ask me if I'm that singer bloke from the 80s band Miami Vice! Someone even called me Mr Miami Vice (my mates don't let me forget it either )🤣😂 -

I auditioned for Bernie Torme. I knew the singer and had played with the drummer a lot. I thought the songs weren't very good and didnt get the job. I went to see the line up and the bass player wasn't very good. 'I wanted him because his brother was going to manage us' said Bernie. I gave up there and then and have enjoyed being a weekend warrior ever since -
Fender precision bass guitar used Antigua green. 1978
police squad replied to BOMBADEL's topic in Basses For Sale
I thought the tuners would have Fender on the back plates I think this bass really needs to come apart to determine the originality. Potential buyers will be asking all sorts but it looks bloomin fabulous. My mate has one that has been gigged to destruction and it has mojo and more mojo but very little is original, new pups, pickguard, pots etc would be good to get the plate off and the neck, there might be a date code on the neck, find out if the pots are original etc -

Vocal Microphones, what are you using?
police squad replied to Phil Starr's topic in PA set up and use
I used SM58s for years, then ten years ago was offered 3 Beta 58s for not much money, but 3 years ago I switched to a wireless 945, which I absolutely love. The SM and Betas still lurk in my set up, if I'm doing a PA for someone else (Once a year I do this) I went 945 on EBS_freak's recommendation (and the choice of wireless too) -
Onboard Battery & Mains/UPS discussions

I used to gig using a variax JTV59. This is battery powered but by using the Line 6 A/B box (it sends the output to an XLR for acoustic sounds or jack for the electric sounds) and a TRS lead, it sends power to the guitar via the stereo jack You need to remeber here, the A/B box isn't standard, it sends power up the TRS lead Using this idea, it mus be fairly simple to power an active bass this way- 19 replies

agreed. My touring Americana band leader is talking to a contact at Sennheiser about using their gear. Ultimately I'll go that way I think.

looks like quite a good idea, I only have an ipad for backing tracks and lyrics. It would probably work. I might look into it
