thanks for that info, I did think that would be the case. I'll get me copper foil ordered
-
so the copper foil needs to touch the silver control plate. No soldering of wires to earth on say, the volume pot?
-
yep, I've seen that, not sure how I'll do it yet
-
I should probably shield mine, it is my main gigging bass now and I have some theatre shows lined up and wouldn't want any grief.# Will look up how to shield properly
-
I havent heard any noise from mine (so far)

There's one on ebay in London. I bought my wife's one from Japan via ebay. It was a few years ago. I'm amazed that they've gone up in price so much -
yep you're done for. My favourite bass of all time I think
-
I use to use one of the variax guitars live. The JTV59. I used the acoustic 12 string and 6 string, direct into the pa and also the out of phase strat sounds were very good too. It also has normal pickups and I used them too. Never tried the bass but that demo is very good, the lack of sustain on the hofner bass is strange, sounds a tad choked in isolation but very good otherwise (pops over to ebay for a look)
-
and strangely I put a long scale set of RS66 45-105 on my wife's old mustang and it felt rubbish. I will try other strings at some point, it is great to read other people's feedback
-
weird isn't it, I love the stock flats so much I put a set on one of my P basses

yep my wife has a PB70, it was white but is now a sort of yellow colour. A fine instrument and her first P bass. I had a fretless maple/natural one too They sometimes come up here for sale too -
this is the song that helped me learn walking bass lines, a real fav of mine too

Here is family picture of mine Fretless bitsa (Bravewood body) Black bitsa strung with flats (awesome sounding bass) P Bass Lyte, in pretty good shape owned 22 years now My '73. Refinished many years ago and nicely played in, owned now for 33 years and used on thousands of my gigs '81 P bass special, almost mint this one

I've just seen a post on FB from Neil Murray Bernie was superb RIP
-
Has anyone tried the Lekato MS-1. I know it's 2.4 but it's cheap and maybe worth a go
-
everyone who has a JMJ loves it. I had a 2 day rehearsal with mine last week and everybody loved the sound Best neck on a bass since my '73 P. It's the same profile but being shorter scale makes it better A great choice Frank

I had a 1965 JTM 45. Paid 100 quid for it in about 1987 from a little shop that didn't know ant better. Sold it to finance a holiday to Zimbabwe in 1992 for £400. Shame that worse I had a Marshall super fuzz pedal, that I threw away. It was crap. Google it...............worth thousands now
-
I also had one, actually I think I've had 2, but the first one may have been a 50 watter I used the 2nd one as a guitar amp, with a marshall power break. Great sounding guitar amp but I swapped it for a Gibson SG JR 17 years ago. (The junior is 1967, so not a bad swap)

https://reverb.com/uk/news/how-to-date-a-marshall-amp I reckon, from the reverb thing, it's a '67
-
ethanol should remove thos

My brother's Italian band supported Maiden when Bruce first joined. Steve was using Hiwatt amps and cabs in those days. My brother complimented Steve on his bass sound and Steve was very flattered.
