  1. time for me to try 6 music then I listen to greatest hits radio atm. Mostly good ex radio 1/2 presenters, music gets a bit samey but occasionally they play a belter will have a go at 6 tomorrow
  2. my hofner ct violin bass has a very slim neck. La Bella deep talking bass flats. Thump and thud personally I'd like to try a cavern bass. I think I would prefer the position of the back pickup, being closer to the neck That said, JMJ Mustang all the way for me these days.
  3. I went 45-100 with the Fender flats. They actually feel really nice, when sat down noodling away. The proof will be on a gig or a rehearsal. As mentioned, it's actually as a backup to my JMJ. cheers everybody
  4. let's try for a new year sale. In very good condition, not used much and not even touched since it was photographed for this sale
  5. my wife has one of these. Nicely yellowed from gigging A fine bass guitar, whoever gets this will love it GLWTS
  6. It will. I was blown away with it on my first gig And second And third
  7. I once had a pickup go open circuit on a precision. No spare bass. I always carry a spare now, I've never needed it. I dont carry a spare guitar on my duo gigs though, perhaps I should. But I only play about half the set on guitar, as it's 80s. There's a lot of songs without guitar in this set
  8. Every time I pick up my JMJ mustang, I smile. I've had it a couple of years now. I would try a vintera but for me, there's no need. P bass player for 33+ years. now, mustang all the way
  9. I have a Vintage 335 a-like. It has a 'Rich-wood' fingerboard. Apparently man made IIRC. When my local Tech set it up, he said he thought it was wood and maybe they were lying about it. Whatever....................it's a good playing and sounding guitar. Used it a lot during lockdown one. Don't know about the others but I would definately try one if I had too
  10. nice job, should be a blast. Good choice of guitar too!!
  11. I sorted my own pressies this year. I had a budget of around 500 quid. so, ebay, Ashdown RM Evo 4x10 8 ohm, just over 100 quid, almost new and virtually immaculate. (I gave the bloke £140 becuase he met me half way) an awesome little cab Boss CE2 1981 black label. £240. Again absolutely amazing sound Fender flats, like what are fitted to the JMJ mustang, for my bitsa P bass, (backup to JMJ for my new Americana band, details to be released when I'm allowed to) and a fkn cold!! fabbo
  12. I have it on an USA region dvd (except zepplin, which I have watched since. A shame, Plant was on tour at the time and he was exhausted) It was a really great day, my friend had an all day party. We had it on all day, it was fabulous. I really liked Julian Lennon's set
  13. I've stopped doing NYE now, last year was stinky poo. Fireworks annoy my dog, so I'd rather stay home these days. If you are gigging this NYE, ENJOY and have a great time
  14. wow, I had a stomper set up in the the early 90s. Great gear GLWTS
  15. and it sounds bloomin epic
  16. it's funny isn't it. The older I get, the less I need to spend, even though prices are going up. I remember 20 years ago, how much a custom shop Les Paul was. I thought it was mental. But I eventually paid 1800 quid for a reissue '57 CS (18 years ago) 1500 for a PRS signature from 89. 2000 for a Slash AFD 12 years ago. all were more than a months wages at the time. I have a brian May 'super' on order £3295 IIRC. Mad mad money lol but not basses 1500 tops lol
  17. Herbie Flowers jazz bass. Iconic for me
  18. when I bought my first Fender (1983) the shop was full of these. Never had one, although was offered a 12 sring/fretless twin neck for £100 back in 1991. (angry wife, trying to disposeof ex's collection in our shop)
  19. I've no idea what that is mate always wanted a CE-2. Still not arrived though, everybody on strike etc
  20. cheers. My friend has used a CE2 in all the 35 years that I have known him. It is THE chorus pedal for me, whatever the cost. I look forward to popping this into my pedal board and removing the CH-1 that I've hated for nearly 20 years (I had a CE-3 and didn't like that much either)
  21. I bid (and won) at the Gardiner Holgate auction recently. Boss CE2, 1981 black label, made in Japan. For me, THE chorus pedal. Eagerly awaiting delivery Pictures to follow
  22. I must admit, that's a mighty fine trio. I'm a P bass man (albeit Mustang mainly these days) but if you need to cover everything, a Jazz and a Stingray alongside a P does it in spades. I've never actually had all 3 at the same time but I have considered adding a stingray p/up and associated electronics to my F/less P bass (and maybe a fretted neck too) Perhaps it's time for a bitsa Jazz (although I do hanker for a Betsy Bass)
  23. This is a mighty fine replacement. I have this pickup in my fretless P bass. It sounds really excellent. Keep the old pickups though, maybe send them away for a rewind. I've used Aaron Armstrong (son of legend, Kent Armstrong) with great sucess
  24. I've gone with comply tips, medium size. Squash em up and insert Yesterday's gig, duo, small venue with the QSC K12s behind us. With the comply tips I couldn't hear the K12s at all. Very good isolation. I'm still getting over a really bad cold, so my head is still a bit blocked. I've had my ears 'hoovered' but my cold is still causing me grief. Tinnitus still very prominent atm. I'm still really impressed with this simple KZ10 pros and P2. My keys player tried them yesterday too and by the 2nd set was really enjoying it.
  25. I was lookig for a s/h one of theses but eneded up with the 8 ohm version for 100 quid. very happy with it tooo
