  1. there was a FB thread on the Vintage guitars and basses site, about what new models would we like to see. I asked for a Sting type P bass, reliced etc. I got a T shirt and gig bag for my idea but sadly, they havent made one yet. I would have bought one for my Police tribute, so that I didnt have to take my Bravewood out all the time
  2. so on friday and saturday I tried the comply tips. Better than the silicon but I didn't think to squeeze them first (I used to use earplaugs on my motorbike and always squeezed them)so they weren't perfect. I will try again BUT I have a sodding ear infection now. It's really quite unconfortable. can't sleepon that side as it's so painful. Will phone the Dr this morning i had a couple of isues Friday nght with the lead falling out of the P2. (I trod on it a couple of times) Sorted on Saturday by looping the lead round my belt first. I do stand by 'it's a game changer though' ATM I just hook straight to the headphone out on the desk. It gives me the FOH mix (backing tracks/keys/guitar/vocals) which works on all levels for me. I can hear perfectly where ny voice sits in the mix. My keys partner wants the same mix, so I bought a stereo splitter. Stereo to two x stereo output splitter. Amazon rubbish. It was stereo to left and right mono but labelled as stereo t 2 x stereo splitter. Any ideas folks where to get what I need
  3. HW builds lovely replicas. If I wanted an R bass, I would buy HW
  4. 452 (based on the last post of 444)
  5. I have an exel spreadsheet of my basses and guitars. I also have an exel spreadsheet of the sold ones. (it's very large lol) AND I have all my current one's serial numbers (this is mega important) Recently I sold three on my 'Police/Sting basses' and a Rickenfaker, which leaves me 26. My GAS has gone these days, I have literally lost interest in gear, unless it's something to help what ever band I'm in. Recent purchases are inears bits and pieces. I do have a Brian May Super on order (these are the expensive production Red Specials, with the proper trem) and I recently bought a signed Red Special (it was a promotion through BMG guitars to punters who had seen Queen on tour. I will hang it on the music room wall when the rest of my house is finished)
  6. I use an ipad in my 80s duo and band. It has the backing tracks on it that we use and the words. I gave up learning words years ago because I don't need the hassle. I work in a demanding job full time. I mostly know the words but do need some help sometimes. Over 100 songs in my duo set alone means it can be weeks before I sing a certain song. The other night (happens occasionally) a drunk person fixated on the ipad, shouting that he's reading the words and pointing at it. This went on for about three songs. So i said, it's like having someone watching me whilst I'm having sex (and i laughed) Then i confessed to the car accident that I had 15 years ago, on the M25, when I was crashed into by an HGV, twice. (not a word of a lie, it really hurt. I was stationary and it piled into the back of me at about 30 mph, I head butted the windsecreen twice and didn't know what day it was for about half an hour) and I explained the crash has affected my memory a bit. They left me alone after that But when I saw Seal, supporting Duran Duran a few years ago, he had his words on an auto cue on the floor, that looked like a monitor. Lulu had some words on a music stand when I saw her. there's a lot of it about. If you can remember them all, you are really lucky. I'm 54 now and have been gigging since 1986. I do remember a lot of words but not all of them It's not a crime😃
  7. I tried my KZ10s with the P2 on saturday night. A bit of a game changer really. I have ordered a set of these foam tips as the silicon ones aren't great
  8. when you say 'push fit', do you mean you can push them in by hand. When I've installed the ferrules into headstock I usually use a fly-press and so the hole needs to be slightly smaller than the ferrule, so that it can't rattle loose
  9. you could always order one online and if you don't like it, you can return it
  10. a ha, Yellowhouse. We did a gig together at the Margate Winter gardens, in about 2008
  11. yep +1 for karaoke version. I use these in my 80s duo and full band (in the band, the bass and drums are left out, as is most of the guitar and keys. We use the B/Vs a lot)
  12. will contact them later. Should I just get the transmitter/receiver or the whole set including the in ear bits, or should I stick with the ZS-10s
  13. Where is the uk can you get the MIPro stuff. I've googled it and am struggling to find out a-ha, Cybermarket. Never heard of them. Will be trying ZS10 and P2 this weekend
  14. I did 2 different Police tributes. One just played in local pubs, the other did bigger gigs. Do you have to be a fan of the original artist, or maybe you become one? I am a fan of the Police, so it was easy for me. Both bands I was in, were also big fans How important is it to be visually/musically identical? How much latitude are you allowed? I look a lot like Sting, even when not on stage and as he is the focus it worked well. I spent quite a lot of money on the correct basses and the matching outfits Do you ‘get into character’ or is it just a gig? I spent a lot of time watching Sting live and copying his moves but I don't speak like him Does it feel musically limiting, or is it fulfilling your needs? (Maybe you have a side band?) Try singing and playing some of those songs. Driven to tears is the hardest playing/singing at the same time song I've done Do you have any qualms about tributes ‘stifling original music’? Absolutely not. Why would it Have you ever met or been seen by a member of the ‘originals’? What did they say? No, but I tweeted a video to Stewart Copeland and he commented on 'you got the sound right but I pity the poor B'stard in the cute shorts' What is the overriding thing being in a tribute act has taught you? Nothing I didn't already know. You can't please everyone all the time. I always put 100% effort into every gig, big or small Having done it once, would you do it again? If so, would the musical angle be very different? I would yes but not The Police now. My knees hurt and a bad shoulder means I can't jump up and down and so it's not authentic enough now anyway here's a few pictures of the gear etc
  15. yes, side dots present and correct
  16. I have a northwest 'jazz neck' on a self build P bass. Very good quality and highly recommended. Mine has the vintage yellow tint.
  17. There's a couple of Costello's songs in this set she is learning. Nice player Bruce too. I dont play much bass these days but will learn the songs with her, it should be fun
  18. My wife is off to try out (on the bass) a new band next week. She's already got the set list and Pump it up is on it. What great bass playing on this song, I'm sitting in my office trying to learn it (I keep a Precision Lyte in my office) She's going to really enjoy playing this one. She's not gigged for nearly 6 years now
  19. welcome back😀
