Homemade bass cab, 4 x 12. Advice / experience please

@Phil Starr time to resurrect this thread how do I measure the volume of a slanted cab? TIA -
I have two markbass cabs, paired with my Ashdown RM500 EVO 2. They are both discontinued 'Club' cabs I started with the 1x15, it must be nearly 10 years ago. Ported at the rear, works great against the wall with the porting. I then managed to find the 2x10 cab at a later date. They are very portable and when used together, very very capable. They sound great but the built in horns are rubbish, so I leave them turned down all the time 2x10 weighs in just over 13 kg and the 1x15 is about 15kg. Carry handle on the top which makes them easy to carry, they fit through doorways, I mostly use the 15 with PA support and it's great

I had one of these and was looking on ebay the other day. I certainly don't want another but It's lovely to see one. It was loud enough to keep up -
Singing technique and stuff about how you sing
police squad replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
This is so true. My first proper gigging band, I was 18 years old, they were in their early 30s. The guitarist sang all these great harmonies, effortlessly. So I decided to copy what he did into my next band and I got (and still am) into harmonies. When I see bands using great harmonies I usually tell them how great they sound because the average punter doesn't usually realise it. People love encouragement and compliments on the little things -

It's an instrument and it needs practice to get right. Good on you for persevering though, it does get easier (monitors really do make a difference) -

absolutely I spent 45 minutes running through some stuff yesterday, all in a lower register, then tried the BF song at the end and it felt much more comfortable -

that looks older than a '75. Is the intonation screw on the G string longer than the others? If so it could be a '70-'73

there's probably forums for singers, like basschat but that's another can of worms quite possibly -

The 945 is closer proximity than the 935 ( I was informed when I researched going wireless) but sound wise it is better than the shure. I also realised that the choice of mixing desk makes a massive difference too. -

thanks for your input @Cuzzie always used sm/beta58s but now using sennheiser 945 live I have good mic technique I think. I actually enjoy singing more than playing these days keep the tips coming folks, I'm sure we'll all learn something here -
As you know (well some of you), I'm Sting in a Police tribute band But I'm also in an 80s duo. Very varied set list, from Kraftwerk to Bon Jovi. We use modified backing tracks, live keys and live guitar During this current lockdown, I've decided to learn to sing some different stuff, starting with Bucks Fizz (don't laugh, I'm serious) I love the song 'now those days are gone' This was the only single to feature Mike Nolan as lead singer. I can hit all the notes but it's the softness in his voice I am struggling with. I am singing, stood up, mic in Mic stand, standing tall. It's too rocky this way. Then, after about 2 hours, removed the mic and slouched a bit. Slightly bent over and there it was. A softer timbre in my voice. Has anyone got any other tips here. I've been singing since I started playing bass 39 years ago but I've never thought about the singing techniques, I've just sung I've lost a stone and a half in the past six months and my voice has really improved, more power and I've recovered just over a semi-tone in my range. What does the singing collective have to help

great show, with a lot of talent I voted for Since September. Bass player and guitarist with the flying V, they really had the swagger. I'd go and see them -

Neil's a fab player. Groove and taste. Phil Hilbourne introduced me to him at a music show and he's very nice to boot. What's not to like

Has anyone played in a band with a sibling?
police squad replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
yep, did a rock covers band in the 90s, for 6 years. We did about 600 gigs together. And 2 years ago, we reformed for my 50th birthday party. We sounded really good then and at my party we were great. It was like we had never been away. Also been in 2 bands with my wife playing bass, whilst I was on guitar. Great fun. In our 2nd band, the other singer was married to the other guitar player and their son, (Kieran from BGT) was on drums. This was a fantastic band until Kieran left. Now we don't get on. Shame really, life's too short to get too bogged down with it all -
