I was doing a gig with the blues/rock band yesterday We only usually do one a year but the BL decided to do a warm up gig in what was a great venue but. They've taken the carpet out 3 Guitarists stupid Bose PA right behind me I had my ACS custom moulds in and by half way through the 2nd set it was hurting my ears The guitars just kept turning up and up During a dreadful rendition of Heroes by Bowie I signalled to the BL that I couldn't hear and it was too loud H e wound the song up early and I said I'm done. It's loud, it's hurting me and I walked off stage I'm not a diva but I actually feared for the hearing I have left I'm still fumimg this morning

blocks on a p bass...........NO it's ok if you've put a jazz bass neck on it though

believe it or not The Francis Rossi/Rick Parfitt one is good Bananarama also interesting and I've read Andrew Ridgley's one again all very interesting not really bass related but still good reads

all bits go in the 'bits' drawer I have all sorts in there Vibrola from 67 SG jr bridge saddles '62 P bass trem spring covers from various guitars half a '73 P bass pickup many many pickguard screws

these are great basses I bought one when they first came out and gigged it a lot best jazz bass pickups I've heard

I never knew that was Flea and I've never really listened to that bass line before I played the album to death when it came out too Good isn't it

first gig done last night used both Mark Bass cabs and boy, did it shift the air Amazing Next gig will try my Ashdown RM410 cab

First gig with this tonight The Policed It sounds amazing and a great crowd Couldn't be happier

I now have my ampeg V4B and it sounds immense first gig on saturday with my Police tribute, looking forward to it

yep I do it by ear But in my bands, everyone is good at balancing their voices with mine, I'm lucky really, they're all good singers

I am actually going down this route with Phil Starr it was just an idea, but if the cab really is 30Kg then it's still a bit heavy

I agree it does look great I am thinking if it is 27Kg, I have a couple of eminence neos that would probably save 6Kg in total, bringing it to 21 ish Kg that might work

I've read a review of the cab and it says it isn't as heavy as Ampeg quote. The review says it weighs 60.8 pounds 27.6Kg Ampeg say 66 pounds 30Kg Can anyone confirm this please?

I've been focussed on lightweight for so long that I never really looked and as I carry PA most of my gigs I didn't need anymore weight But I have a couple of gigs where I don't carry PA so am happy to lug this

Plug the other cab in and see how do As you say it feels different, it's more dynamic and organic gigs coming up will need Mustang with flats (blues/rock gig) New wave/ ska / mod dep (4003 with rounds) P bass with flats Police gig 50s style P bass with rounds I know its going to smash the new wave gig with the 4003

This arrived this week at PS towers Ampeg V4B. It is simply incredible 100 watts. Simple to set up Absolute ampeg delight. I just didn't know this model existed or I would bought one ages ago It looks cool and isn't remotely back breaking at 18kg Gets its first Policed gig next week Then a blues/rock gig Then a ska/new wave gig
