Neil's a fab player. Groove and taste. Phil Hilbourne introduced me to him at a music show and he's very nice to boot. What's not to like

Has anyone played in a band with a sibling?
police squad replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
yep, did a rock covers band in the 90s, for 6 years. We did about 600 gigs together. And 2 years ago, we reformed for my 50th birthday party. We sounded really good then and at my party we were great. It was like we had never been away. Also been in 2 bands with my wife playing bass, whilst I was on guitar. Great fun. In our 2nd band, the other singer was married to the other guitar player and their son, (Kieran from BGT) was on drums. This was a fantastic band until Kieran left. Now we don't get on. Shame really, life's too short to get too bogged down with it all -

I use a couple of smaller versions of this case. They are great. Solid plastic bottom, they don't rip. Really good solution

So how hard is it to defret a bass ?
police squad replied to ChrisF's topic in Repairs and Technical
I de-fretted a USA vintage re-issue P bass in about 1991. I bought it from soho soundhouse, complete with an emg pickup and expander tone circuit. Pulled the frets out at work, with pliers and filled the slots with a tube of plastic wood. No sanding, it was just perfect. Used to use it on one song. So I had it refretted and sold it. Utter madness, I was young and stupid, now I'm just stupid -
I looked at the website of the luthier who did the work. He says he had to do the work to make it properly playable

I saw 'It Bites' headline at Folkestone. This is when Calling all the heroes was still in the charts. I had their album, 'The big lad in the windmill' They played the whole album and did an encore, which was calling all the heroes, for the 2nd time. They were fabulous

I've done a Police tribute, outside. socially distanced tables etc. great crowd, loved it. Ive done plenty of 80s duo gigs since the end of august, two last weekend. Mostly pub gardens. All been great. I've lost over a stone since lockdown and my voice has improved massively because of it. who knows where it's going from here

Tuner? eh? Bass + cable + amp. sometimes there would have been an octave pedal, chrous and compressor but not these days, I just keep it as simple as possible
