How do people find musicians these days?
police squad replied to wishface's topic in General Discussion
no place in your band for me then 🍻🍺🥂😋 -
Good to see Martin from the bass centre contributing to this thread. I went there in 1991. I had been to Fat Ricks to look at a Hamer Thunderbird that had been owned (wrecked) by the Quireboys. It was £450. It was all I had. The bass was rubbish so I went off to Wapping. Tried loads of basses and found a s/h Status 4000 in a sort of burnt orange at £595. I explained to Martin I only had £450 and the only thing in the shop I liked was the status. He let me have it for £450. I was stoked. Thanks Martin

Does your band use a sub-woofer as part of your PA?
police squad replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
I use QSC K12s and 2 x KSUB for my band gigs. Sounds awesome with my Allen & Heath ZedFX desk. We play outside, on a square in Deal, once a year. The gear sounds balanced and full. People always compliment on the sound (I have a KSUB for sale in the forsale section) -
I have a PA sub for sale at £550. I got an offer of £200 because all 2nd hand speakers are past their best. I told him he best not buy it then. He said no one will. Be prepared for dickheads too. Always post good pictures and indicate any faults/ damage. The other thing is courier. If you can arrange a courier, you will probably get a better price. I'm not sure about insuance with couriers as they are all different

This is exactly how I feel about it these days. I've cut right back atm and only play where and when I want. It may be an age thing but I was sick and tired of playing to and for dickheads, this includes some landlords and band members. I've just turned 51 and have gigging since I was 17. I have virtually no interest in equipment any more. No GAS whatsoever. But my passion for cooking curry is getting bigger!!! Have a break mate and see how feel

Ibanez MC940 active circuit info please
police squad replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
battery is fine as the active controls all work as they should. the passive tone also works. mine is the 79-82 model, any pictures or help would be gladly accepted, thanks -
yep I had similar with one of mine. It was capacitors but I'm not sure which. Got it fixed and it was fine

I have a rather splendid MC940, this is the fretless model. The switch that switches the active circuit in. My question is, when I switch it off, the whole sound is switched off. It should just revert to passive but doesn't. Any ideas how I could put this right? thanks in advance

JV , SQUIER fender,FENDER squier, fender, what's the difference?
police squad replied to spencer.b's topic in Bass Guitars
The JV serial numbers with Fender logo only were non-export models ie Japan only. They have obviously found their way over here -
my wife's bass from 11 years ago. It was a Valentine's Day present from me It's the Japan 70's reissue with USA p/ups. A mighty fine bass
