Helped Suzi Quatro with her luggage (REALLY)
police squad replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
Playing a Jazz on this tour, sounded great -
do it, I have the RM500 EVO II. Fab head, Ashdown rocks
-
On Sunday night 7th, we went to Brighton to see, Shawaddywaddy, Les Mckeon, David Essex and Suzi Quatro. Checked in to our hotel, got into the lift and lo and behold, Suzi was in the lift. I ended up carrying her suitcase as there were some stairs to negotiate. She seemed really nice. We had a laugh about an interview she did recently, it was about a fingers versus pick thing (The interviewer is a friend of mine and wanted some good questions relating to bass playing and so I told him to ask, fingers or pick. (I know she plays with her fingers)) Great show and saw her AGAIN in the lift in the morning. 'Great show' we said, 'Thanks' came the reply. A random guy in the lift said to her, were you at the Art Gunfunkal show last night', Suzi fixed him with a stare to rival my wife and said, 'Do I really look like Art Gunfunkal' The bloke was flummoxed and just stared right through her. We laughed all the way to her tour bus. We bid farewell, So to sum up, is she really a lift attendant or rock star (or both)

Collecting Basses/Guitars as an investment
police squad replied to StuarDaddy's topic in General Discussion
Someone on the tv said, 'don't buy it as an investment, buy it because you love it. If you love it, someone else will' I think this is a good philosophy. I have several old guitars and basses and I love them. They are all very good instruments in their own right. It helps when coming to sell them. I have played many vintage gibsons and fenders that were average at best. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Some people would pay silly money but a great guitar will always sell. I bought a 1989 PRS custom 24 signature series (hand signed and numbered by Paul) 13 years ago. I paid 1500 quid. I admit I bought it unseen on ebay as an investment. 1500 was dirt cheap but actually I was lucky. It is a fab instrument. I have several instruments worth much more than I paid for them. A lovely nest egg for when I retire. But I still play them down the boozer when I can -
Talk to Rob Green at Status. I'm sure he'll be able to help

I saw it in the west when it opened. Justin Lee Collins and Shayne Ward. It was very good. The film, well I watched it again the other night. Truly awful

Here's a gratuitous picture of my wife's Bravewood '63 in Daphne blue. Un-reliced and unplayed these days as she's not gigging atm. The limelights look incredible too

Fret wire looks pretty thin on mine and it's from the first batch too -
yep, I saw him with whitesnake in 1984. Mel Galley, John Sykes, Jon Lord, Cozy Powell.

I wrote a book about being in a covers band
police squad replied to Dave Vader's topic in General Discussion
I've just got to the point when Verity gives in. So far an excellent read which could only ever have been written by someone who has done a lot of gigs in covers bands. Good work @Dave Vader -
I had a Hartke HA-3500 for sale and Nathan asked how much the courier would cost. We did the deal and he paid immediately. Perfect, great comms too. Deal with confidence

@hiram.k.hackenbacker could you forward that email to me please as I have one of the first batch of F;ea sigs too (although it's seems to be fine) I had a Trussrod failure on a WHUFC Steve Harris bass but that was in warranty and was replaced with no problem -
Hartke HA 3500 amp head in sleeve NOW SOLD
police squad replied to police squad's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
-
I have for sale my old Hartke head. This is a later one in the factory fitted rack mount sleeve. This was my main gigging amp until I bought my Ampeg and since then has been kept in my studio and used for practice. Now I have switched to Ashdown the Ampeg has become the spare (everything is now light weight) This amp must be about 9-10 years old, works perfectly, valve pre-amp offers warmth to your tone. Built in compressor, DI out, FX loop. ground lift. A few scuffs in the tolex but never abused, only loaded in and out of the car, no damp and rattly vans for my gear. Anyway I only want £100. It's a bargain and I can courier it too.
-
I have had speakon issues in the past too. My ampeg would cut out and then work. One gig I had 2 cabs plugged in a one was cutting out. I changed speaker cables to jack to jack and have not had the problem since. I put it down to the speakon connector
-
may I enquire who the band is? You have a very organised way of work there. When I have to learn stuff, I make a playlist and have it in the car, on my PC and listen to it massively. I learnt 30 Jam songs in 2 weeks once When is the audition? The Capo software looks interesting
-
it's amazing really, we've probably been to each others gigs at some point

I lived in st margs most of my life, been in Deal nearly 4 years. I havent tried the frog n scot yet. Deal has certainly changed in the past few years, with all the DFLs but it has brought a raft of new bars and 'I saw you coming' shops lol.

strangely not playing friday or saturday but there is bound to be something on at Cin Cins. (depending when you were last about it may have changed it's name) The Stag in Walmer will have something (glam rock band, not seen them yet) Bound to be something cool at The Lighthouse (was the Lord Nelson) How long since you left the mighty Deal?

It's a mighty fine bass, from Mr Bravewood. He is a massive Sting fan too
