  1. Just in case anyone is following this, I ordered the sennheiser EW100 945 on channel 38. It comes tomorrow. I'll gig it next week and report back
  2. Fabulous friday bump. Buy this and you too can self isolate claiming illness when in reality, you will be playing this for 2 weeks solid🤣
  3. @EBS_freak Also, can I ask the difference between the 8 series and 9 series mics please?
  4. Thanks again, this is all great info. I do sing with my lips mostly on the grill, so I think the 945 might be more suited to me
  5. I've just bought the follow up too
  6. @EBS-freak Why the 935 module? What will it give me that the beta 58 hasn't got. thanks for your help though, I love BC, there's always so much help on hand
  7. ok that's more great info thanks, I'll keep an eye out on ebay etc
  8. this one? https://en-uk.sennheiser.com/microphone-wireless-system-vocal-instruments-ew-100-g4-935-s
  9. In my duo, I play guitar about half of the time, when I don't, I put the guitar down and usually take the mic form the stand, coil the lead round my hand so it doesn't pull out. For me being wireless isn't about walking out into the crowd, showing off, it's about having less leads under my feet and hooked around the mic stand, should I want to do my Rod stewart/ David coverdale impressions with the stand (which I used to do in my youth with my old shure wirelss rig)
  10. Thanks guys, this is great info. I still have no idea what to do next. I'll look at the sennheiser . To be clear, it's just me going wireless with the mic. Not the band
  11. I'm looking at the Shure Beta 58 stuff. The BLX24 with beta 58 (analogue) and the GLXD24/beta 58A It's for mainly pubs and the occasional bigger gig. I used to have a shure wireless SM58 back in 1990 and it was great. I currently sing using the Beta58 with a lead, so want to stick with the Beta58 as I have grown very used to it thanks for your help
  12. yep the bridge moves about if you lean on it too much. I had mine pinned because i rest my hand on it when I play and it used to move. now it's fine
  13. I never really noticed the weight. I used to be young, agile and mostly un-injured. I used to jump about with whatever bass was strapped on. As time has gone on I picked up a nasty neck injury playing 5 a side footy. I had physio but then had a car accident, where I was hit from behind by a lorry, which then hit me again. I now have a c4-c6 vertibrae problem, which I manage ok with. From time to time it's back to the physio. I stopped gigging heavily about 2 years ago but now I only aim to do about 40 per year. Most of my gigs are 80s duo. I play a lightweight Strat on about half the gig, so only about an hour. It doesnt affect my neck but when I do a Police tribute gig, it all locks up for a few days. I use my Bravewood Sting replica, it is nice n light but still gives me grief. I don't know the exact weight but it feels light. I am starting to shed my heavier basses because they should be played, not left in their cases in the cupboard
  14. I'm thinking of going wireless for vocals, Shure do an analogue and a digital system Does anyone have an opinion or experience with them. Is digital better? etc etc cheers
  15. yep that set up will nail it and that was my old set up!!😀
  16. spectacular, reminds me of my '73 before I put the mirror plate on it
  17. yep, been playing it over 30 years now
  18. I have the SBR-150. I prefer it passive too. The active tone thing doesn't really work for me. I don't gig it because I love my P bass too much.
  19. still fabulous now with a possible trade option
  20. I used an Ampeg PF-500 for about 6 years and I loved it. Light, loud and it sounded like an ampeg Just over a year ago I bought an Ashdown RM500 EVO II. Even lighter at 2.5Kgs. I love it. Bags of volume and balls. I like the compressor and the a little bit of the in-built overdrive. I bought it on black friday for £399. Awesome. I kept the ampeg as a spare and use it in my practice room (the loft lol). I wanted to go Ashdown as I think they are a great customer focused company, fantastic service etc. And it was Lozz who told me how good they were
  21. Thanks Riko, great news enjoy martin
  22. how do the strings feel, compared to a 34" scale bass? Tension wise? cheers
  23. But does he play with a pick or fingers😂
  24. Also you need to remember the desk. For about 10 years I have used an Allen & Heath ZED-FX22 desk. Initially with the already mentioned Wharfdale EVP powered subs and tops. A good, cheap set-up but then I bought QSC stuff. K12s x 2 and Ksub x 2. OMFG. Really good sound and I also use this gear for an outside gig that I do. It really is awesome. In my duo, keys, guitar and vocals, we started using a the K12s with the 22 channel Allen & heath desk. A really great sound but the desk is too big, so I bought a Behringer desk with FX. XENYX X1204USB 8 Channel Analog Mixer yep, it sounded ok and I got used to it but for one gig went back to the bigger desk and the difference was night and day. So I went and bought a small Allen and Heath Zed-10FX desk . So much more musical than the Behringer and sounding like the 22FX so please remember the desk counts for a lot.
