  1. No sweat, I look forward to listening to it
  2. I've bought 2nd hand often and not yet had a problem
  3. that must be really frustrating for you
  4. I've been gigging for just over 34 years now. I'm nearly 52 and between 1988 and 2015 was easily doing 100 gigs a year. In the past 18 months I have cut back to about 35 per year and I try not to have my gigs back to back as it leaves me knackered the next day and the day after too. I have a full time job, I'm company Secretary in a family business with my brother. We employ about 18 people and manufacture security and search equipment. Since just before the pubs closed I haven't done any gigs, I've played at home much more, to backing tracks to polish up my guitar licks, played along with Guy Pratts videos (and really enjoyed that) I even did a live stream with my duo, in my garden. (Which I thoroughly enjoyed) I have noticed that I have much more energy, am not knackered all the time and my shoulders/ back / neck problems (mostly sports related) are causing me much less grief. I don't miss the idiots that come to the pub being a PITA, (I don't play for landlords I don't like anymore, so that doesn't come in to it) or any of the other grief, yet I still sort of miss it. If I never did another gig, well, I might be ok with that Your thoughts mighty BC collective By the way, I really appreciate how tough it is for the self employed musician who cannot work at the moment, this post is really aimed at people like me, the weekend warrior
  5. £3.50 on ebay for Storyville
  6. I've just ordered a copy of storyville
  7. They were definately Framus branded strings. They were cheaper than the warwick reds at the time IIRC. Probably the same strings. They were fine
  8. I used to have a trade account with Warwick (when I was making guitar amps) and I was doing a lot of testing of my amps. I changed strings a lot, I had a lot of guitars to work with. The nickel wound 10-46 gauge used to retail about 3 quid. They were fine actually. I also used their nickel wound bass strings. 45-105. I think they were a tenner. Never had a dud string in all the sets. I may even have a set or two left over, but I switched back to rotosound about 10 years ago
  9. I have 3 Vintage 6 string guitars and they punch so far above their price point. I remember getting a V4 for my brother, probably about 12 years ago and I couldn't believe how good it was out of the box. I should have tried it on a gig before I sent it to him
  10. no, never used transferwise
  11. The MIM Flea is shell pink. I have one, it's awesome. I haven't gigged it for over 2 years now (not gigging on bass for a while) I think about selling it but it's the best sounding Jazz bass I've had. Great '64 fender pickups. I'm in Kent if you fancy a blast on it, when we're allowed to
  12. keep the size of the box as short as possible because it will be cheaper to send I used Eurosender because BC gets a discount BASSCHAT10 is the code IIRC Also, I always write the delivery name and address ON THE BOX, just in case the label comes off. I also write where it's come from too
  13. Vintage V52. If they're anything like my 335 alike and SG alike, they will be plenty good
  14. Looks nice Bob, you could always add secondary dots on the side, level with the lines. I built a fretless P bass with no lines on the maple board and the dots were where they would have been on a fretted bass. I installed black dots where the frets would have been and it works perfectly
  15. The can of worms that is wood and tone 🤣
  16. There's been a lot of sliding pickup things over the years but that really does demonstrate how pickup position really is the key
  17. I only use the smallest amount but it can get quite hairy can't it. I discovered the pre shape now too, didnt use it until my last gig in March. Sounded fab
  18. another inspirational video. Guy has made me want to improve my playing. I actually pick up my 'lounge' bass and practice on it now and I'm even playing without a pick!!
  19. I have the RM500 evo II. Fab amp, great drive sound too. Love it and it only weighs 2.5Kg
  20. As the title says. What are they like? How do they sound?
  21. i picked up a mint marshall JTM-45. White back panel, plexi front can't remember the year for 100 quid. Sold it a couple of years later about '93 for 400 quid. Wish I had kept it. worth a fortune now. I bought a mint E-series squier strat for 100 quid 16 years ago. Awesome guitar, still have it. PRS signature series from 1989 for 1500 quid. Swapped a marshall super bass from 1973 for a '67 SG jr (not sure who had the best deal there) Walked into the bass centre in 1991. Only had 450 quid but fell in love with a status 4000 for £695. I said to Martin in there, I only have 450 quid, he checked what he had paid for the status and sold it to me for £450. I was chuffed to bits
  22. I've just seen on FB they have a new owner and are out of administration Great news
  23. to be honest, what you have probably sounds the same (if it's made the same)
