  1. What a superb demo. Never heard of him but he's fab Gratuitous picture of my Bravewood
  2. you should read his autobiography, really interesting
  3. agreed
  4. doesn't look right to me.
  5. I have discovered many things +1 for Ashdown Flatwound strings, if only on my Hofner. Also the biggest and most obvious is the pickup sweet spot. I also found my old Manson bass. But the weirdest thing definitely was finding the right handed version of my late bandmate's left handed Jackson bass. A brief recollection for you Back in the late 80s, music shop owner, Big Mart, ordered a custom Jackson bass. It had a Star wars graphic and kahler trem. He went to view it at the music show but they'd made it right handed. Big Mart was a lefty Jackson rushed thru a lefty version. The original right handed version ended up it Brixton musical exchange. It was sold, end of story Big Mart passed away nearly 5 years ago, we carried the band on and I switched to bass and vocals I then posted on BC and Talkbass and various other musical forums, searching for the said right handed version. and on what would have been Big Mart's birthday, I got a message from the owner of the right handed Jackson. He bought it from BEM and still had it. Unbelievable but true
  6. That is lovely. I recently sold an early series 2. I had a series 4000 back in the 90s and loved it. I dont really gig much on bass these days but if I did, I would seek out another
  7. No need. It's still the most playable bass. The action is low and it doesn't rattle. I've never had a bass set up so well. If you're ever in Deal, come and have a go.
  8. I bought a 1973 P bass in the summer of 1990. It needed a set up. I sent it to the guy I always use, Andy Crockett. He set it up and I haven't touched the truss rod ever. I have done a lot of gigs with the bass and apart from, putting a schaller 3D bridge on, changing the pots and half the pickup, it's still the same original set up. He stoned the frets and they are quite low, but they haven't worn down in all this time. I suppose it could be just a very stable bit of wood and it's not really subjected to serious temperature change
  9. yep sounds fine to me too. Differences in pickups would probably be the thing here. Both sound just like a P bass, the 2nd bass sounds more scooped
  10. I think the high mass bridge adds a little more depth to the tone, when played with a pick, or the original bridge has more treble
  11. I was going to see The Quireboys in a small venue in Dover Paul Weller in Margate Then I had great seats for Queen at the O2 and in september, again, great seats for The Hollywood Vampires at the O2
  12. very nice. White and r/wood plus TV logo, perfect
  13. I have and use QSC K12 x2 and for bigger gigs I add 2 x KSUB. In total its 4K. It cost 3000 pounds just over 7 years ago. The K12s I use in my 80s duo and they are superb, even on their own I love it to bits and have used it outside to quite large crowds, many times. People always comment on the sound. Totally reliable too, never had a problem I use it with an Allen & Heath ZED-FX22
  14. very nice and a great price. I have a red one, 3.9Kg. Absolutely stunning it is, GLWTS (I'd buy this to go with my red one but I'm downsizing my collection)
  15. actually it looks really great with tort guard and I'm not really a tort fan. But black is very cool and 70s Enjoy
  16. He came to my stand to try my amps out. He was playing them, flat out, for about 10 minutes during the 'quiet time'. A lovely guy and it really drew a crowd too
  17. I probably have more money tied up in guitars than basses. When I was making valve amps about 15 years ago, I started building up a collection of guitar to take to shows, so I could demo my amps with all sorts. first up is my 1989 PRS signature guitar. This is a great guitar Then there is my bitsa strat, there with Uli. 1979 LP Deluxe My Gibson AFD Les Paul ( really good) There's a 67 SG jr, an old Ovation shallow bowl with cutaway, a couple of Vintage brand guitars (3 actually) I love em all
