  1. Washburn Stage guitar!!
  2. First actual gig on bass was a school concert. We were the support band. I had been playing 6 months. We played some T.Rex, Buddy Holly, The Jam, The Knack It was November 8th 1981 (Rememberance day) I was 13 years old. The drummer from that band now plays keys for Toyah and we still see each about First Pub gig, The Louis Armstrong in Dover. 1986. I was 17. Same landlady to this day
  3. agreed. When I started playing in 1981 I already had 6 years of violin and scales. The arpeggiating thing worked for me (helped me learn guitar chords too) so I quickly learned how to play rock n roll stuff. But it took another 7 years to understand 'walking bass lines'
  4. I still have my PF-500. A couple of times I had my sound cut out, changed my guitar lead etc etc. (my first one went wrong, fault light came on etc) Then at a gig is Cardiff I used 2 x cabs. One started cutting out, so I changed my speaker leads from Speakon, to jacks and never had the problem again. I don't know how a speakon connects but I suspect there is / was a dirty or faulty connection somewhere. Either a cab, or the amp. The fact that one cab cut out and they are daisy chained probably makes it the cab? (I can't remember if I changed the speakon lead for a different speakon lead)
  5. yep, I've recently started gigging with the RM 500 EVO ll head. Very good it is too. I may change to Ashdown cabs at some point, just so it matches
  6. to be fair, BigRedX, you were rocking it back in the 80s
  7. yep, let's see who can carry it off
  8. Keytars ROCK!! (only if you are cool enough)
  9. it was probably Spooner's club, in The Alma pub or maybe The Lighthouse
  10. remember this my fellow Bass Chatters The pound is MUCH weaker to the Dollar these days. This will put the price of US imports up
  11. bass bod, who were you playing with?
  12. Im looking forward to my NYE gig. I live in a wonderful town (Deal, Kent) and we have epic fireworks on the pier at midnight. My gig is 2 minutes away and we break for the festivities, watch the fire works and then do another half hour of 80s stuff. It's a duo and I play guitar and sing. It's in my local and we are both from the town. I wouldn't have bothered if it was anywhere else. We're getting 160 quid each. There's virtually no travelling and the pub always buys us a few beers. What's not to like
  13. I've had a couple of wonderful basses that I could not get a great sound from. I had a JayDee Mark King. Too complicated but played beautifully and amazing build quality. I then had a Hamer Scarab. Great bass, didn't like the sound. Various others along the way but I discovered that a P bass was THE sound I was looking for, I had a 62 and a 73 at the same time. Sold the 62 as my 73 was better. I still have the 73, 28 years later and I'm still gigging it
  14. I have one of these and the matching 1x15. great cabs GLWTS
  15. Does anyone remember Rotosound Spacer strings? roundwound and black coated? used them a lot in the early 90s but I don't remember what they were like, they looked cool
  16. yep, I've been using swing bass for the past 10 years. no problems
  17. yeah, really quick set up. I even used a little of the drive all night on sunday. Sounded great. My ampeg sounded great too, which I'll keep as a spare
  18. I've done 2 gigs with it and I must say I am very impressed. It's loud too
  19. These MIJ basses are superb. Mine is only the 2nd one I've ever seen
  20. great cab. I have this one and the 1x15
  21. I have a fretless one MC940. These are fab basses, GLWTS
  22. thanks mate, even I'm impressed at how clean it is. I took more detailed pictures for someone and I couldn't quite believe it. If I don't get what I want for it, I'll be keeping hold
  23. Sunday morning bump. I've taken more pictures for an interested party and I'm actually staggered how good it is.
  24. Ok for sale is my beloved Steinberger XL-2 It has the plug in Leg Rest. It is in wonderful condition and has the original gig bag. At some point someone has added 3 schaller strap buttons which prevent damage when you stand it against the amp. Works great, sounds mega but I have gas for something else that I've fallen in love with No trades just cash please. Can meet half way I'm in Deal, Kent any more info, just ask
