1.
I very much approve. Keep the pictures coming.
I can't upload the picture from photobucket. It shows it, nice and big but when I hit 'post' it fails to load. Maybe the file size is too big.
2. Hey chaps, I hope I'm allowed to post this. I've always fancied a 4003 shaped bass but sounding more like a P Bass. So I've got this as a project. It's a bolt on neck (6 screws) It's not routed so I'm going to put a P bass p/up in the P bass position. A normal BBOT bridge and a mirror guard, the same shape as the template. It's got chequered binding.
3. I have a couple of Bravewoods and they are really very very good. Limelights also look good and are getting some very good comments on this site. They are a lot cheaper and look to be great value
4. it's a great bass too. I've got one too. and I'm a hammers fan. win win really
5.
Its a lovely bass and I know he's a hammers fan but why would they put it on the bass. I mean I want it but how could I ever play this in north London social clubs? Can it come Off?
Come on, it's a signature bass and it's permanent. You'll have to change your football club and then do a gig in Millwall
6. yep, try it and if it breaks change it. Stings has the coils wired in parallel too
7. I have the same problem with one of mine. It also has the stacked pickup (same as Stings bass). Seymour Duncan said I could push the pole pieces in a little on the A & D strings to even up the sound. I haven't done it yet. I raised the action on the E string a little , which helped. I don't really use the G that often and I just live with it. I might just change the pickup
8.
some excellent replies! How quickly do your guitars wear from gigs?
I've been gigging this for 25 years. it's done over a thousand with me
9. approx 70 gigs a year, now I'm full time on bass again. Main band I take 2 x P bass. One is about 1975 (my absolute fave of all time) and the spare is my Steve Harris West Ham bass. My police tribute again I always carry a spare. But it could be the Fender MIJ Fretless, natural, maple boarded P, or the red version again with maple board and fretless, or the Ibanez Musician, again Fretless, or the Bravewood '57 Sting replica, The Steinberger XL2 from 1983 or my White Spector Euro4 LX. In the blues band I play in, Hofner Jubilee Violin bass. It just goes thud and works brilliantly. I have an Aria SBR-150 that usually stays home
10. well I saw them and they were awesome. Great show with great songs. Seal was supporting too. He opened with Crazy and then Killers. Now that's some support
11.
I'm still loving mine. Lost count of how many gigs it has been, over 100, and I wouldn't swap them for any other 1x12s. I use a Tone Hammer, but they sound great with most amps. Would love to try one if those Demeters. I used the power amp once and that was pretty special, especially for such a little box.
yes I spent the day at bass gear with JT and we did a lot of testing using a tone hammer and ampeg pf-500. At the time I wasn't really playing a lot of bass guitar but now I am, as I've replaced our dearly departed bass player who passed away last month. I think I may need to order white tolex cabs, but with a red front and an oxblood grill cloth, to match my green bass strings!!
12. I heard JT Crossfires pair of S112s at the weekend with a Demeter head. No PA support and the sound absolutely filled the room. Bloody amazing sound. Looks like I'll order a pair early in the new year, although I still want to try the H115
13. do bass gear have anything JT? I wouldn't mind another trip up there to try the TKS H115
14. Hey guys, I've asked this before but I'm still looking for this bass. The picture attached is a left handed version that was ordered by a music shop owner in Canterbury, in the late 80s. Big Mart (my boss) is left handed but Jackson managed to build his custom order RIGHT handed. This ended up for sale in Brixton Exchange Mart. Sadly, Big Mart passed away recently and this photo was taken at a memorial gig that we did last week. I'm now playing the bass in this band (I was the singer but now I'm doing both) I would dearly love to find the right handed version that was made by mistake. Has anybody seen it
15.
Cracking selection of P's there Police Squad.
Thanks Gary, like yourself, there's been several others over the years, of which I don'y have any pictures but there was a '62, an early USA vintage reissue '62, 2 x late 70s, a Fender Sting re-issue, a JV that Billy Apple now raves about, and I gave a P Bass Lyte to my brother
16. Finally I'm back to playing bass in a rock band, so I get to use my old P bass. I bought this in 1990 and it's only ever been set up once. It is truly an amazing bass. I originally thought it was a '75 but on closer inspection of the original pickup I think it's a '73 and the backup bass I haul around is this and then there are my 'Police tribute basses'. Firstly the Bravewood replica of Sting's #1 and then there's the MIJ 70's fretless and then there's the self built, 70's red fretless Got to love a P Bass
17. I saw The Doors Alive and was very impressed. I'm not even a doors fan, but they were great. I also saw an Italian Muse tribute, Well I listened to them as i was having dinner and couldn't actually see them, but they sounded really perfect. They were called Muscle Museum
18. I've got one of these too. It's mega and has a fab neck. The headstock tint is basically recreating the 70's look. They had a supply of decals that curled up if they sprayed poly laquer on them, so they used nitro only, for the face of the headstock. This turns yellow over time leaving the poly on the neck still clear. Plus I'm a hammers fan and an 'Arry fan too.
19.
More importantly how heavy is it
priceless
20. I have an ash/maple board like Sting used. I've only ever seen a few
21. yep, Kris posts some great videos. He's a top player
22. I Played thru an ampeg SVT classic and 8x10 at a festival this year and it was awesome. GAS here too
