1. I've got one of these too. It's mega and has a fab neck. The headstock tint is basically recreating the 70's look. They had a supply of decals that curled up if they sprayed poly laquer on them, so they used nitro only, for the face of the headstock. This turns yellow over time leaving the poly on the neck still clear. Plus I'm a hammers fan and an 'Arry fan too.
2.
More importantly how heavy is it
priceless
3. I have an ash/maple board like Sting used. I've only ever seen a few
4. yep, Kris posts some great videos. He's a top player
5. I Played thru an ampeg SVT classic and 8x10 at a festival this year and it was awesome. GAS here too
6. bank holiday rainy day bump
7. yep, obviously as I'm Sting in my tribute. Been singing and playing bass since 1988
8. easy, like sunday morning
9. quite big then. wembley arena is about that I think
10. I had a hot chocolate with whipped cream on it, at a gig earlier this year, and had to finish it with a spoon!!
11. Hi there, from Dover and welcome. Do you play locally Sam?
12. ah and I see you're in Nottingham. How big is the capital FM arena?
13. some of the gigs have standing, Brighton, for instance, but I don't mind a seat. (my knees hurt lol) Tickets are just silly money now, I'm just glad I can afford to go and stay in a hotel. I don't do many gigs anymore as it really is too expensive. I saw Meat Loaf on his farewell tour and he was awful. Band was great but he wasn't. Haven't seen anyone since then.
14.
TBH I'm not massively keen on the nostalgia reunions/tours by any band, although I did see The Human League last year and really enjoyed them.
It's not really a nostalgia tour, they are promoting their new album. I bought the last album, produced by Mark Ronson, about 6 months ago and it is actually, really rather good.
15. Got mine, Nottingham December 11th. I could have seen them when I was 15 but didn't go. That was 32 years ago. John Taylor was such an influence to me, as a young paduan learner (as was Sting, Bruce Foxton and Phil Lynott) Anyone else going?
16. My take on 'Solid'. The chap in AC/DC. Now that's 'Solid' but I also love Mark King when he's not slapping because he is also playing for the song. Sting, uses the bass as a counterpoint, and his bass lines aren't simple but they're not flashy or busy. But walking on the moon wouldn't sound the same if the bass didn't go, dud, dud, duummmmmm If a muso told me my playing was 'Solid' I'd say to them, 'I know, thanks, glad you've noticed' Locally there is a bass player that just shreds all over everything he plays. It makes no sense what he's doing. He'll mix 8s with 16s, in the same phrase and plays loads of notes. He's in a classic rock band and some people think he's brilliant because he plays so many notes but nothing he does fits with the music. He's not Solid or busy. Just rubbish!!
17. another singer that doesn't own the PA. This, in itself, is not acceptable. You don't have room in your car, [s]so buy a bigger car you numpty [/s] can't the guitarist see that!! You don't need bass bins at practice and actually at some gigs too. I often leave the bins at home, for the smaller venues. If it's bothering you, leave. Life is too short to play with people like that.
18. learn some Police tunes, that should challenge peoples awareness of space and time keeping (sounds all a bit Star Trek) or tell 'em to fook off
