where do we go from here? Is it down to the lake I fear? -
yep, obviously as I'm Sting in my tribute. Been singing and playing bass since 1988

What's another year? Does Everyone stare? What about now? -
quite big then. wembley arena is about that I think
-
I had a hot chocolate with whipped cream on it, at a gig earlier this year, and had to finish it with a spoon!!

Hi there, from Dover and welcome. Do you play locally Sam?
-
ah and I see you're in Nottingham. How big is the capital FM arena?
-
some of the gigs have standing, Brighton, for instance, but I don't mind a seat. (my knees hurt lol) Tickets are just silly money now, I'm just glad I can afford to go and stay in a hotel. I don't do many gigs anymore as it really is too expensive. I saw Meat Loaf on his farewell tour and he was awful. Band was great but he wasn't. Haven't seen anyone since then.
TBH I'm not massively keen on the nostalgia reunions/tours by any band, although I did see The Human League last year and really enjoyed them.
It's not really a nostalgia tour, they are promoting their new album. I bought the last album, produced by Mark Ronson, about 6 months ago and it is actually, really rather good.

Got mine, Nottingham December 11th. I could have seen them when I was 15 but didn't go. That was 32 years ago. John Taylor was such an influence to me, as a young paduan learner (as was Sting, Bruce Foxton and Phil Lynott) Anyone else going?

My take on 'Solid'. The chap in AC/DC. Now that's 'Solid' but I also love Mark King when he's not slapping because he is also playing for the song. Sting, uses the bass as a counterpoint, and his bass lines aren't simple but they're not flashy or busy. But walking on the moon wouldn't sound the same if the bass didn't go, dud, dud, duummmmmm If a muso told me my playing was 'Solid' I'd say to them, 'I know, thanks, glad you've noticed' Locally there is a bass player that just shreds all over everything he plays. It makes no sense what he's doing. He'll mix 8s with 16s, in the same phrase and plays loads of notes. He's in a classic rock band and some people think he's brilliant because he plays so many notes but nothing he does fits with the music. He's not Solid or busy. Just rubbish!!

another singer that doesn't own the PA. This, in itself, is not acceptable. You don't have room in your car, [s]so buy a bigger car you numpty [/s] can't the guitarist see that!! You don't need bass bins at practice and actually at some gigs too. I often leave the bins at home, for the smaller venues. If it's bothering you, leave. Life is too short to play with people like that.

learn some Police tunes, that should challenge peoples awareness of space and time keeping (sounds all a bit Star Trek) or tell 'em to fook off

Hi guys, I've decided to sell my Tbird. It is virtually un-marked because it's not been used much. It has schaller strap locks and a proper Epiphone fitted case This is what they say about it Features Gibson TB Plus humbuckers Historic 60's era Thunderbird profile Classic 3-point adjustable bridge Specifications Body: mahogany body wings Neck: 7-ply mahogany/walnut Neck Profile: 1960s rounded bass profile Neck joint: through-neck Fingerboard: rosewood with pearloid dot inlays Fingerboard Radius: 12" Frets: 20-medium jumbo, nickel/silver alloy Scale Length: 34" Nut Width: 1.50" Neck Pickup: Gibson TB Plus humbuckers Bridge Pickup: Gibson TB Plus humbuckers Bridge: classic style 3-point adjustable Flush-Mount, fully adjustable Controls: -neck volume, -bridge volume, -master tone Tuners: black die-cast 17:1 ratio Hardware: black Control knobs: black TopHats with chrome metal inserts Optional: hard case with black vinyl exterior, gray plush interior and chrome hardware Color: Alpine White and Vintage Sunburst I have to say that I love playing it. Great slim neck and it doesn't dive to the floor, the strap button is on the heal so it doesn't do that. It sounds great with the USA pickups, I just don't use it. You can collect or I can courier. Not really after any trades as I'm trying to downsize. If you need anymore pictures, please ask, because people always want to see different things
My job as a dep is always to get asked back. I have an opinion about everything in my bands (don't get me started), but when I'm depping I never get involved in band politics, personalities, arguments or issues.
The band are moaning about it as well. It's not my beef, I was wondering what experiences other people have had. I dep with them because they are friends of mine. The band is very good, very tight with some quite interesting material that gets me playing in different styles, (although I'm sure Bernard Edwards would rather not hear his bass lines being played with a pick!!)
That is so true, Skank. That's what these people don't realise - being in a band isn't what you think being in a band is going to be like. They want to be in a band, but when they find out what being in a band is like, they don't really want to be in a band any more. Hence the crap attitude. For a lot of people 'being in a band' is just a concept or a premise or a thought. The actual 'being in a band' bit of 'being in a band' is bloody hard work, and these stupid, workshy, feckless, unreliable, untalented frigging fecking pigs should just stop wasting everyone's time and do us all a favour by fecking off out of it! /rant
because of this I was going to start a virtual pub band with some mates. We were going to have a long list of songs (that we weren't going to learn) and only book pubs that had closed. It's a smashing idea you know
