1.
Bloody hell, I've yet to see a review let alone see one in the flesh. I do hope they're good or there's gonna be a lot of 'em popping up in the FS forum in the very near future
ordered online, so can easily be sent back. If it's anything like my Steve Harris West Ham bass (apart from the weight) it'll be very nice
2. I don't want or need a jazz bass. I play Precisions!! (er and a Spector, Steinberger, Rickenfaker, Ibanez musician, Aria SBR150) but not Jazz basses Karl, it's your fault. Ordered from Andertons with Saturday delivery!!
3. I used to work in a chrome plating business. Chroming wood, would be a similar process to aluminium. You would need to coat the wood in something that the Nickel and chrome would stick to. If the finished article takes a knock or similar, chances are the coating on the wood would let go, then it would start to flake off. Difficult thing to accomplish. Warwick did it, I don't know how good it was. When you've worked as much as I have, in electro plating, the phrase, 'That would good painted' is never far from the lips
4. we'll await the pictures and your report Karl. They look great and my Steve Harris bass is lovely (even if it is the 2nd one I've had. Broken truss rod in the first) The newer MIM seem very good to me
5. yep, Matt B is a great player. Saw him with DLR about (oh my) 20 years ago?
6. yep I thought it was strangely good (in a good way)
7. There's a great VH1 or MTV documentary about getting 80s bands back together and they get Kajagoogoo together. It's very interesting and Nick gets an amazing sound out of any bass he plays
8.

I see your P bass and raise you mine. A Bravewood based on Stings but a little less wear. A wonderful sounding bass guitar
9. I gigged with my West Ham harris the other day. It is currently strung with rounds and I needed to press the ultra hi switch on my PF-500 to get anywhere near the treble out of it, compared to my '73. BUT, with the maple board and the ultra hi pressed, it sounded very Steve Harris
10. I was fired from a band I wanted to leave. I didn't like the bass player (I was on lead guitar) and I don't think he really liked me, (and his wife used to fancy me way back, not at this point) and when I got the sack, he was on holiday and didn't come to the meeting. I'm still very good friends with the other guys and play with the drummer every now and then. It was a good band and they/we wrote some cracking songs together
11. MUST.....................................................RESIST>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2 gigs in Portsmouth this weekend................................................................................................. argggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
12. black, black, maple. very 1970s. I had a 79 like that. superb colour scheme. Black, black, rosewood, also very classy. Do it and post pictures please
13. yes, rotosound customer service is top drawer
14. or possibly red with a white front and oxblood grill cloth
15. when I order mine, they'll be white with a red front and oxblood grill cloth
16. I ordered a P neck from eyparts in hong kong. http://www.eyguitarmusic.com/ cheap as chips and it is very nice. It is fretless and a maple board (which they dont do anymore) I think custom world guitars sell the same necks. Also, Northwest guitars make fabulous guitar necks and bodies (according to the guy who works on my gear) and they have started doing bass stuff http://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/all-necks/
17. well done, enjoy
18. I saw Meatloaf on his farewell tour. He was shockingly bad. Voice is totally knackered. The band were fabulous
19. yep, currently playing me up. Rest it as much as you can. Mine's a lot better than a couple of weeks ago and I've got 2 gigs this weekend, so hopefully it won't get too aggravated
20. In order to make the right decision, you really need to try them both. It's a pain but it's the best thing to do
21. yep, good luck. Be yourself and if you can sing, chuck in some backing vocals.
22. yep the Dee Dee looks great. I have a MIM Steve Harris WHUFC bass and the quality is as good as anything I've seen from the USA. So don't knock modern MIM stuff
23. Helium in your cab will give you a serious case of GAS!!!!!!
24.
Gosh, the Tickled Trout really is upping it's game.
Actually, it's the Hole in the Roof
25. Decided to gig my new (it's been replaced under warranty) Fender Steve Harris WHUFC bass, yesterday (just after the hammers game on BT sport, They loved it in the pub) Tuned it up, left it against the amp (as you do ) not much treble comes from this bass, so I hit the ultra hi button on the ampeg, Yep, sounds about right. First song F8ck!!!! The action was WAAAAYYY too low for the way I hit the strings. Clank, Clank, duff duff. Shocking. So after 2 songs, I apologise to the crowd, citing my problems on another typical West Ham performance. I find the allen key for the bridge and crank up the E. But the allen key only fitted one side of the saddle. In Fender's error, they had put a different allen bolt in one side. But, it was enough to finish the first set and then, properly tweak everything. I must say, the 2nd set was ace. Maple neck P basses have a certain 'quack' to their sound and this bass with it's maple body, sustains like something from Spinal Tap. I have this bass strung with rounds, (the flats were never put on it, they're in the case though) and even with rounds I can hear the Steve Harris sound.
