Should have posted this here first but for those that don't really bother with the general discussion forum, here's another Sting styled bass, from the 1980 world tour. It's a Bravewood body, Genuine 1975 Fender bridge, Fender '62 re-issue pickups, Gotoh Machines, CTS pots and a switchcraft jack, with a neck from EYparts in Hong Kong. I've stuck a Fender logo on it because the bass I've tried to recreate was a Fender. It's is not and never will be for sale. Hope you like the Fiesta red and maple board. I think it's a lovely colour combo especially with the black guard

I reckon I could gig with the Chimaera. The boot is really deep and wide. I almost did a gig in it 2 weeks ago. I reckon I could fit my markbass Cl115, ampeg pf500 and QSC PA cab. My bags could go behind the seats on the sort of rear parcel ahelf and the guitar in the passanger seat. Next sunday afternoon gig, I'll try it

basses didn't fit in the boot of my alfa GT, but they do in my TVR Chimaera. Sorry that doesn't really help. Could you go to a dealer and try it?

Finally got my bitsa back. We have a Bravewood body, EYparts neck, Fender '62 reissue pickups, Gotoh machines, CTS pots, switchcraft jack, original '75 bridge. The body was fiesta red but John thought it was the wrong shade, it's not been buffed out and had been hanging around so it's not mint either. The idea was to recreate the P bass Sting used on the 1980 world tour. Fretless maple looks so good. Please, no moaning about the logo, it needs to be there to look right. (and I like it that way)

it sounds, to me, that your band thinks that they are important. In my books, no one is that important. It's probably time to move on and let them continue playing album tracks. Give them notice but I would give them 3 months. That way they have to get their fingers out and get it sorted.

+1 for fretfx. Fitted them to my wife's bravewood bass. Clay dots don't show up so well, so I ordered blue fretfx. easy to fit and haven't changed the battery after about 30 gigs. One led died (5th fret) so I emailed them and sent the whole thing back and have just received a replacement and it's now fitted. A good inexpensive solution.

I think the split pickup gives a little more bite to the sound. And it's a bit thicker. I have both and love both

my Les Paul fell off it's Dunlop strap locks even after I'd checked it was on properly. Luckily no damage. They do need a little check from time to time as they do wear.

I think the fuzz box came out of the guitar years ago. It was replaced by something else as far as I remember. The last time I saw a pic of the original guitar it was missing the switch in the body. There was just a hole!!

Very nice Kevin. I put together a similar thing for my Police tribute band, only it was reliced to look like Andy's. The guys at the painted player did the routing, wiring mods and relicing. I just supplied the basic tele which I had put together previously from some parts I had lying around. Mine doesn't have the Clapton boost circuit, it has some cheap boost circuit which, TBH, is rubbish. It's ok when it's switched in but it needs to be on minimum boost, then it adds a little more sparkle. That said, it was a great guitar before it was sent to them but now it really looks the part. (It's a poly finish, Fender Japan body, but on stage you can't really tell)

I kept the rounds, they're in my bedside drawer, in case I want to switch back

I've got an Epi Jack Casady in my collection. It's also strung with flats and thumps with the best of them but I prefer my CT 500/1

I have a jubilee edition 500/1 (violin bass). It's #7 of 60. Korean made. Strung with la bella flats. It sounds awesome, it really does. Wonderful for a bit of blues rock. Both pickups wide open thru my ampeg PF500. I will, at some point, get myself a German re issue, in sunburst and remove the pick guard. I recently saw a Beatles tribute and their Macca was using a German re-issue and it sounded totally different to mine. Woollier, I think but very authentic.

yes. Years ago I had a Manson Explorer bass. Black with white dots on the horns. I found it for sale about a year or so ago. I sold it in 1986. It was fantastic to see it again but at 800 quid, it wasn't for me. Strangely the inverse has happened too. About 7 or so years ago, I bought an old Tokai breezysound on ebay. Last year I had a cull of gear to finance a new PA system. Put the Tokai back on ebay and it didn't sell but I got an email from a potential buyer. It asked, 'did you buy this from a guy in Ramsgate, in (such and such) what ever road he said. 'Yes' i said. It was the guy I bought it from. He bought it back for twice what I paid for it. He was over the moon

I've not played any Nash guitars or basses so I can't comment on the parts quality. But just looking at the paintwork made me not want to pick them up. I'm sure some are great, but they're not for me. But I'm not really into relics as such. My Bravewood P bass is a replica of Sting's #1 bass, so it's reliced to look like Sting's as much as possible. My wife's Bravewood P bass was built un-reliced. What's nice about a relic is another ding doesn't spoil the look of a pristine instrument. I know some people are very fussy about thinga like that. I'm not though. I gig all my gear and if it gets dinged etc, so be it.

I'd take a limelight over a Nash anyday. I saw a load of Nash gear in London and I really didn't like the relicing on most of them.

Bravewood are totally handmade. I have a couple, (well one, my wife has one also). My elder brother has a Bravewood strat which is also lovely.
