1. I have splashed out on a table, and bringing my normally jazz-aloof wife. Big fan of LC, I predict it will be mind-blowing!
2. This is its twin brother, just sold - identical. Slight scuffing on top due to rubber amp feet - will try to wipe off but not noticable with amp on top or when stacked.
3. PMs replied, researching possibility of shipping but ideally would sell locally, still available.
4. Hi all - selling in rush - TC Electronics 2x10 cab with cover - very good condition, some scuffs on cover (it's what it's there for!) - only £300 picked up from Chelmsford, Essex ( near A12, J28 M25) or Colchester. No shipping for now - can email pics from iphone - PM me. It's a standard 2x10 TC cab - details here: http://www.tcelectronic.com/rs210.asp Just like this
5. Oh, David, wish you were closer south!
6. Yes, I might try that, though it is active and someone said it works better with passive. Any other thoughts? I will try this but I suspect it isn't going to solve the problem!
7. Haha. I was like "hmm, two lefties, interesting. Wonder if that's something she wanted specifically". Then I saw the backwards Marshall amp!
8. Hi all - I was curious if anyone knows who the bass player is in this pic playing with the Hooked on Classics rock orchestra. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/9205668.Hooked_on_Classics_rock_orchestra_come_to_the_BIC/ Anyone know who else played with them either live or on the records? I think Herbie Flowers did, and Andy Pask might have been the original player. Cheers! Regards Mike EDIT: didnt like the image extension, please follow the link!
9. Hi all - yes, you're all absolutely right, but I don't think I've been clear. I always, as a matter of course, have my phone or airplane mode. The problem is that I'm picking up signals from other people's phones within about 5 metres, so on any functions or gigs I always have to get people to turn their phones off - and sometimes it's not possible, practical or polite to doublecheck everybody! The thing is, it seems my Sadowsky is FAR worse than ANY other bass I've had at picking up this signal - none of my other basses are remotely as bad. And the problem is that it's by far my favourite bass, and I don't want to sell it
10. Problem is I love my iPhone dearly (as do many musicians with whom I work) so that's not really an option for me!
11. Hi all. My main bass is a Sadowsky Metro UV70 4 string - it's pretty much everything I want in a jazz bass. Sounds and plays beautifully. However, I've always had a problem with it - it's always been susceptible to mobile phone interference. You know that percussive, buzzy noise (quaver/semiquaver/semiquaver rhythm!) that comes pounding through your amp? That. I am getting to the point where I get tired of asking everyone within 5 metres to turn their phone off on stage, or in the orchestra pit. It's a nightmare when I play with a big band! I've used different amps/cables etc and am pretty sure it's the bass that's picking it up. I have had the electronics and shielding checked and there appear to be no problems. It's come to a head where it's making me nervous on professional gigs and that's just really difficult. A colleague of mine suggested rather than any phone causing this interference, perhaps it's a specific company's signal - I'm on O2. This got me thinking -when I use my iPhone in the car, I sometimes get interference when I lose 3G and it goes to WAP internet. My wife's phone doesn't seem to make any sound - and she's not on O2. I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts on this - anyone on O2 having problems? Any ways round it? Frustratedly, Mike
12. Haha. I guess there are lots of factors like the bass you use, the amp settings etc. I find the TC gives more middy punch suitable for funk and soloing, and the Tech gives me more of a proper old school rounded big bass sound. Saying that I still use a TC now, as well as a GEnz Benz 212.
13. I think the two 2x10 TC cabs provide more midrange punch - the Tech Soundsystems 2x12 is a more rounded bassy tone - but if you want jazz bridge pickup tone (punchy) I think it sounds better through the Tech 212 because it gives it more bottom end. Doing the Jaco thing through the TC 10s I think is not bassy enough.
14. Hi Charic. Pretty competitive. It's hard to compare as it's 12s compared to 10s. Definitely more bassy, less punchy mids (something I wasn't so keen on with the TC). I run it very loudly with large functions bands and it's a good clean sound up to high volumes.
15.
Thanks for all your help. Mike, what does Sticky mean? Is that a person whom may have dots? THanks. Carl
It was such a good list I felt everyone should see it!
16. Shiiiit. I wanna buy this straight out!
17. Sticky^^^^ !!!
18. I guess no harm in asking but really really need cash to be honest!
19.
So Mike would you say this amp more of clean amp as opposed to one that distorts easily, I know the video shown above from Pete Murray sounds like it's quite dirty and have no idea why Pete would demo it like that, but I couldn't get it to clip unless I'd turn the gain from 7/9 onwards. What are your views on the main use of this amp, dirty or clean?
Certainly for me, clean! I have no need nor interest in a dirty sound and haven't even experimented with that. When I was looking for a new amp to replace my TC, I pretty much just relied on flat amp settings and using my ears - to my ears this was the cleanest, most snappy, responsive amp I played - with no hint of the "processed" hifi sound that I felt the TC had. Maybe for fun I will experiment tonight with a dirty sound. I'm really not sure what market it's aimed at - they are only preamp tubes rather than "actual" tubes as far as I'm aware so if anyone's looking for a valve amp this might not be it. I think RJ is right, and that you can get a modern and old sound out of this (whatever an old school sound actually is!). I'm using Sadowsky, Warwick and Fender with it and they all sound lovely. If anyone wants to play on one, I'm in Chelmsford, Essex - they'd be welcome to pop over.
