1. Hey Allen. Ive been thinking exactly the same thing recently! So I looked at what was out there and THIS was out there - the Vance method for double bass. A few different books, but gets you playing melodies right away and all over the fingerboard too, even thumb position rather then the Simandl way. I haven't seen the books yet so can't review you them for you but I should be getting them soon. One book I got recently that is just jazz melodies with fingerings is Jazz bass on top by Andy McKee. Starts with easy melodies and moves on up. Great stuff! Good luck and let me know if you find anything good!
2. Thankyou - I think that's where I got the picture from. I was just going to see if there were any used copies around before buying. Thanks for the taking the time
3. Is anyone selling this book? Thanks! Mike
4. Do you have a pic of the front cover perchance?
5. I'll look tomorrow if you still need it?
6. BUMP - can a mod maybe move this to double bass? Still available!
7. Hi all. Bought these flatwounds for my precision bass but decided that as nice as these are (and as motown and stax as they make the bass sound) I think I'm a roundwound person at heart. So, these are literally as new - they were on the bass for one hour and are still clean. I only cut a very small amount of the strings off so it will fit any 34" bass. It was a precision so the G string isn't shorter (the 2+2 headstock problem). £15 shipped. Paypal/bank transfer fine. Cheers! Mike
8. Bonjour I had a similar thing. Needed a small component for my burner and shipping charges were crazy. I ended up asking him to mail it to my wife's family who live in the states and they posted it on to me MUCH cheaper! It's a shame really. I needed a pot for my Sadowsky and Roger sent one completely free of charge. Outstanding! Shame K'S doesn't operate a similar policy. Good luck.
9. Good one to download here: http://bobbysbackingtracks.com/listen.html Got to pay for it, of course!
10.
I will, Mike. Many thanks (likewise the other way around - although mine is a five string so be warned!!)
Cheers Bilbo - When I have sat in a few times with Bernie I always get a bit confused by his 5th string!
11.
And it was going so well..... Got home after a gig last night and, in taking my bass out of the car, managed to break the bridge in half . Now need a new bridge and a full set up I can't afford (but will, somehow). And, to make it worse, I have a gig tomorrow which, whilst I can do it on the Wal, is based on an acoustic concept that is entirely compromised by the absence of the double bass. I'm going to re-name the double bass 'The Money Pit'...
Ah, never saw this post. How annoying. You would have been very welcome to borrow mine, set up by Martyn Bailey. Let me know in future!
12. Thanks for sharing and collating all this excellent work!
13. If you are interested in a trade for a 2x10 TC Electronics (for your 4x10) let me know - I'm in Essex.
14.
Certainly is, Mike. It was just a demo for his Blue Rondo Jazz Ensembles website. Simon Brown on piano (a lovely Steinway!!) and Gareth Lumbars on sax.
Big G ! Great stuff.
15. Very nice Bilbo! I play bass for Andi from time to time and it's always a fun experience. Is it Alex on drums?
16. Thanks guys!
17. sold pending!
18. Or even better- scan it/photograph it and post it up for us all to enjoy Good luck !
19. Boo! Maybe he'll remember me if he wants to sell it on
20.
I wouldn't mind trying this Gareth.
Can i have second dibs please?
21. Hi all! A Boss RC20 looper here - in decent condition, it's been quite well used. Works perfectly fine. It's a non issue but if you pull a couple of the knobs, they come off, but easily reattach. I'm pretty sure all knobs pretty much do this but in the interests of full disclosure I mention it! There is some velcro stuck to the bottom also. I use this for practicing much in the vein of Janek Gwizdala - ii V I's etc. You can also load on your own samples and so forth. Fantastic piece of kit but I have another looper (a more simple one) and I don't need this dual pedal version. No power supply (why do they never come with them??) but uses Boss PSU or the cheaper Maplins/similar type! £100 shipped or £90 picked up from Chelmsford, Essex. Near A12/M25 J28. Cheers! Mike PS Bank transfer preferred if possible! I'm known pretty well here (I hope!) and have 100% eBay feedback.
