1. I had this bass and it was superb! Only reason I changed was for the same bass in a different finish with blocks. Sounds immense! Mick, I'll drop you an email soon, my friend!
2. Thanks all. I don't get on with "stick" basses so that's out. I could buy one while I'm out there but ideally I'd just use my shuker 5 E-C. Beedster: I'm going to San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Phoenix and Vegas. Bit of a road trip, in a Dodge Charger! At the moment the poll is exactly even. Bah! Thanks for all your input!
3.
Also think about the return journey through US security. If you look anyway suspicious (i.e. not white) then you might have trouble.
Luckily, I'm the whitest cracker you could set your eyes on - cheers anyway!
4. Hey! I already spoke to customer services and as you might expect, they didn't know what difference a bass was from a guitar! I asked for dimensions, but it's as vague as "nothing bigger than a guitar". I reckon as it's a bass guitar that's an easily conceded point in my favour, though.
5. Hi all! Yes, I know the travelling bassist topic has been discussed, and I've already devoured as much info on it as I can, including Dave Marks' problems and the sticky on top (which is very useful). I'm going to the USA for 3 weeks and really need to keep up my daily practice. I have looked into travel basses, and even bought an Aria Sinsonido but I'm just not happy with the quality of them. I looked at BA's policy on musical instruments and they will allow you to bring one on board as long as it's "guitar sized". Anything bigger must be checked. I want to bring my Shuker 5 string with me, so, these are my options. 1) Bring bass in a really slim lakland gigbag. Looks small, like a guitar, should be absolutely no hassle to bring on the aircraft. BUT: if something goes awry, and it has to be checked in, it will be smashed to smithereens. 2) Bring bass in a really decent, thick, padded, gigbag. It's still guitar shaped so should be ok, but in the event that it needs to be checked, it *should, maybe* be okay. 3) Bring bass in a softish hard case, rectangular, well packed. Might be able to go on the plane as I can prove it's a guitar, but if it has to be checked, should be ok. 4) Bring bass in large, metal flightcase. Probably won't be allowed on the plane, but will be fine if checked! What do you think, fellow basschatters? Cheers! Mike
6. Roughly how much are you after and where are you based?
7. Personally, low action doesn't work for me for slap. I find it chokes the notes a bit. I raise my action slightly for slap heaven!
8.
I'd be all over this if I had the jazz know-how. I love jazz so much but really struggle to play it properly.
I think it's worth an audition, mate. They're great guys and not ballbreakers! I've played with them for a while but just can't give them the time that it deserves due to other commitments. The music's great, and they don't make you solo if you don't want to!
9. I've played with Steve, and he's a great player and all-round enthusiast - and originally a bassplayer!
10. Hi. I would quite like last month's issue of BGM. Could also get this month's too I suppose. Any chance of a PM for cost?
11. Yep, Aminor.
12. Lady in Red has some beautiful fretless playing! Why wouldn't you want to play that? For my part, nothing particularly weird - a few quite uptempo numbers which seem a strange choice. The most common for me is "Let's Stay Together" (!) by Al Green.
13. No problem. It came round quickly and I had two or three gigs that weekend and didn't have time to follow it up. I look forward to maybe attending a later one!
14. Well, that was a shame. Emailed exactly as mentioned, and was asked for my student details. I advised them that I wasn't a student, and mentioned the basschat link etc - no-one got back to me, so I didn't get to go. A great shame, I was really looking forward to it.
15. I definitely recommend Roqsolid. Used them for two cabs and they were great. Sent the wrong one through first time but replaced it with no hassle.
16. Hey Dave- can you give any info on how the masterclass will run? Do we bring a bass? What's the dealio? Cheers!
17. I've got to say, does nothing for me. Would much rather hear a Janek G/Tony Grey solo. I find the constant tuner adjustments intrusive.
18. It's fantastic! Both amazing players. I'm currently transcribing Janek's solo on this.
19.
hi, if this is still available ill take it
Me first, me first
20. I'm not the seller but to help out, yes, I use it with vista.
21. Nice little unit. I have one, it's simple and gets the job done. Perfect for midi work or a bit of demo recording. No latency of course! Good luck with the sale.
22. I absolutely love the Chillbass. Superb. And 33" scale, which I adore. I'm looking for a fretless too. But probably a 4, and lined.
23. Mike
