1. I think I love these. However, it's lucky it's not in the blue finish, or else I would be remortgaging the house instead of typing this!
2. Hi all - finally, an up-to-date family picture! Back L-R: Bassix Jazz EUB, Ken Smith BT6, Cort GB-75 Front L-R: 1975 Fender Jazz, Shuker Custom Jazz 4, 1968 Fender Jazz (modded with EMG active pups & fretless lined ebony board - no, it wasn't me!), 1984 Ibanez Musician. This are the basses that I gig with, and get regular usage: 75 Jazz, Shuker, 69 Jazz, Ken Smith. I'm using the Cort to tide me over as Jon Shuker is building me a matching 5 string but in Red, with delano pickups, and macassar board & blocks (think a snazzy 66 Candy Apple Red Fender!) This is the pedalboard I use, should you be interested. Custom-made (by myself, a complete duffer at anything manly like DIY). This comprises: Sadowsky DI, Boss LMB3 Limiter, EBS Octabass octaver, Boss TU2 Tuner, Danelectro Autowah and a not-often used programmable Tech 21 Sansamp. I also use Markbass gear - a 1x12 combo, with a 2x10 extension. Regards Mike
3.
Anything by Flanders & Swann or Tom Lehrer, because bassists really should get out more.
+1 for Flanders & Swann - Cannot get enough of these genius songwriters & comedians!
4. Fender Jazz 5 USA? :-)
5. Heck, yes, Kevin. They are very nice. A lot of people who don't want to fork out £2k for a Ken Smith rate these as an alternative. The BXP are the cheaper ones, these are USA built. All good here Jordan, cheers - good luck with the sale! You should post pics of your bass(es) in the Bass Porn section!
6. I'll leave the monitors for the time being, cheers!
7. Hey Jordan...Same friend who bought my Peavey Cirrus 5? Hope all it well mate! Regards, Mike
8. In that case I may be interested in monitors - feel free to PM me a rough price if you like!
9. I hope that is Alex from the Gallery. Great guy.
10. Hi Alice - thanks for the offer, but this sold quite a while ago. I see I selfishly didn't change the title to reflect this. Sorry! Good luck buying one - if I see one I'll drop you a PM. Regards, Mike
11. This surely isn't the famous and magnificent "guycee" of youtube fame....is it?
12. Check out the Bass Merchant, in Witham, Essex. Changed hands recently but the previous owner Mike Walsh was a fab guy, I'm sure he's sold it to the right people.
13. Hi there - as soon as I saw the thread title, I was going to say " Speak to Mike @ Bass Merchant" because last time I was in he gave me the lowdown on them. After reading your post I see that's not necessary! Greetings from Chelmsford and a very satisfied customer of Mike!
14. Thanks for all your input - I went out and bought it, it's very nice. It's a Sienna Burst with the woodgrain visable. I'll post pics when I can!
15. It's a natural five string, but he's mentioned some sort of colourburst on there - so I'm a little confused. I'll see it in the next day or two and give it a play. Thanks for the speedy help, all!
16. Thanks for the input - it's the natural one, £150 with hard case. Seems like a decent deal. What's the neck like? In terms of width and playability?
17. Hi, I've seen a Cort GB75 for sale second hand. Just wondered if you guys had any experience with them? I see they're rated highly by some on Talkbass. Also, what do you think is a fair price for one second hand? Thanks, Mike
18. Brilliant. I see Todd was exceptionally complimentary about your playing over at Talkbass - way to go!
19. Hi everyone! I'm trying to hammer down the last few specs on a Shuker Jazz 5 Jon has already started to build me. My 4 string is SO magnificent, I'm having a 5 string matching one made - some changes in terms of pickups and colour but generally the same. Now, I've been researching 33" scale. Basically, I have pretty small hands! I do play a Smith 6 but it does feel very big to me. I sold a Yamaha TRB6P because it was so wide. Even a Warwick Streamer Stage I V was quite big. I've noted that a lot of big name companies make 33" 5 & 6 strings - I just wondered if anyone has any experience with them? I know Janek Gwizdala plays a 33" 6 string. I'm thinking it might be more comfortable for me, and make the transition when I'm playing from 4 to 5 a little easier. Jon says there should be no problem with the low B either. Look forward to your input! Regards, Mike
20. I got my pics through as well! Good stuff.
21. Superb - looks like you could go swimming in that top.
22. Mike

SOLD

I know you might not be keen, but I have a USA Jazz 5 that I'm keen to swap for something - Black on black, rosewood neck. I'm sure we could come to a good deal!
23. Welcome to Basschat Chris - but Ssssshhh!! I would also like to hear the skinny on the Zoot cabs. But I should really just pop 10mins down the road to Mike @ Bass Merchant. Still, let's hope we get some info.
24. A 60 fretted and 62 defretted were his main two, I think. Occasionly he did borrow or buy different ones. Jaydee even made him a signature bass right near the end of his life, after he played one and really liked it.
25.
People of the low end, to fund my dirty GAS habbit I am selling my Bass Trainer. It's been my main practice set up for a couple of years, really great for transcribing. It's in good condition and comes with the proper tascam mains adaptor. How does £45 sound? Lee
Hi, if that includes shipping, I'll take it. If so, paypal ok?
