1. Nice offers so far, but still here
2. Hi My other attempt at 6-string... Beautiful bass, with lots of mwah! It is an active/passive 34" neckthrough with Delano dualcoils (switchable to single), Aguilar 3-band preamp (mid freq can be changed by pulling the mid pot), ebony fingerboard, bronze/ebony nut. Schaller hardware. This is a well balanced but not the lightest bass - bathroom scales show 4.8 kg. It has on the other hand tone in spades! Incredibly flexible and musical on all settings, with a flat neck that makes things easy even for me. The low B is excellent. I love the single coil/humbucker switches (one per pickup). I've had a few fretlesses including LeFay, Zon, Status, Lakland... and this one for me is the best sounding. The bass is a lined fretless, but the lines are thin so from a distance it really seems unlined. The fingerboard has some of the proverbial marks, but absolutely smooth to the touch. Otherwise, the bass is virtually in mint condition. [s]1450for a straight sale[/s], including fitted Mayones hard case (also in excellent condition) and shipping to EU. NOW ONLY 1100, all included! Grab it before I change my mind and put it back at the price it deserves! Cheers
3. Cheers guys - it certainly is stunning! Trades would be for something I fancy, 4 or 5 strings, Fbass, Digwall, Ken Smith are at the top of my list, but no harm in asking. Ibanez BTBs, Lakland I like too. No relics (intended or unintended) please.
4. Hi Got this in a recent trade to see if I could handle 6 strings... - better than I thought! But clearly it is something that I will struggle with for a while, so I thought I'd put it up as a feeler and see if I could continue trying new things... So to start with, this is an amazing boutique bass by itself, well balanced and not heavy, with a beautiful finish and top specs - Nordstrand PUs, Aguilar 3-band pre, series/parallel switches for each PU, Hipshot hardware... The tone is modern (think MTD) with great balance and definition across the range, including a great low B. It is an 18v circuit, so plenty of headroom and clarity. The neck is very flat and comfortable, and this is an extended range bass (29 frets!). Dunlop straplocks are mounted flush with the body, one on the horn and two at the bottom so you can choose the one that works best for you. To top it all, it has blue side LEDs, which are turned on by pulling the mid control, and are powered by two AA batteries in the rear cavity. If all that wasn't enough, it has a factory-fitted Roland GK3 pickup - a separate DIN output connects with the included GR-20 pedal (UK power supply but I include an EU adaptor), a switch allows to select programs on the pedal and a knob allows you to mix in the MIDI sounds - and there's plenty: strings, leads, pads, brass, pianos, percussion... Everything in excellent condition! All of this for 2400£ in case of a straight sale, including a Sandberg rigid gig bag and shipping to EU. I am open to trades (note trade value is 2800£), but as I said I am not in a hurry to move it on! Cheers
5. Hi For sale my Esh Sovereign IV in trans red, a very nice bass that I've thoroughly enjoyed - but need to sell due to new purchases. It is a bolt-on 4 string with EMG pickups, rosewood fingerboard and Schaller hardware. It is very German, both in solid quality and sound - very snappy and growly, in the same ballpark as Marleaux and Warwick in my book. It has the added advantage of a piezo at the bridge. Controls are volume, tone, pickup selector and an idiosyncratic Esh control that has 4 positions: direct (from PUs to output, no controls have any effect except PU switch), standard, standard+piezo, and piezo only. The neck is great, very comfortable. It is in almost mint condition, except for the ding at the forearm contour shown on one of the pics. Comes with original Esh gig bag, also in excellent condition. Any questions, just shoot. Shipping to EU included in the price. Cheers! 6. another successful bass trade with Pete, again perfectly smooth - we had a hiccup with the couriers due to the French air controllers strike and he was very patient. Mega basschatter!
7. Finally some interest - but nothing definite yet. Bump in the meantime!
8. Smooth transaction, fast payment, everything perfect. Would happily deal again any time!
9. Top basschatter, clear communication, prompt payment. Cheers Geert, enjoy the bass!
10. https://youtube.com/watch?v=EmLHOGT0v4c 😄 Brilliant
11. Final price drop - only 350£ which is a steal for a bass of such quality
12. Not all of them are ugly, most are simply dull imo. Fbass are sexy. ACGs are daring. Alembics are beautiful (but not very ergonomic). Fenders/MM are classic. Dingwalls are futuristic. For me, Foderas are neither here nor there. The question about what is overpriced or not is debatable, but it simply cannot be justified in terms of higher costs - when you have so many top notch luthiers using the absolute best materials and components and building to perfection, who sit firmly in the 2000-4000£ bracket. Location is part of it, but to quote Flight of the Conchords 'what are your overheads??!' It has to be mystique (= marketing), which is fine. We all succumb to this one way or another. Look at how many people want to trade Foderas for other Foderas with opposite specs... Ah, but it has to be a Fodera (and please not one of those cheapo standards). Same with Alembics. C'mon guys. These 2-3 brands have prices that double or triple most other expensive basses. The question of overpricing is legitimate. It's a bit like when you have to go Custom Shop to have a matching headstock from Fender. Really? I've tried two Foderas and they were ok. My Sire M3 is fantastic. If I remember the price, I'm twice as happy. I've had (and still have) cheap and expensive. If Fodera is good for you, fine. You don't have to argue about best quality or high production cost. Personally, if I had a Fodera and it had just one knob not turning precisely, one high fret or slightly loose screw, a hint of hum or any other minor niggle, I would be bitching.
13. Bass now sold, thanks
14. On hold now
15. Thanks guys - it really is a beauty
16. Hi all Just realise I rarely play fretless, so here is a chance to save yourself some money (and time) on a mint, great fretless. Bought this very recently and I can honestly say this is on par with much more expensive basses (for example, US-made jazzes). The preamp is ridiculously flexible, can't fault anything, everything works as it should! The only thing I didn't like is that there are only dots on the edge of the fingerboard, the lines don't continue over the binding so difficult for me to intonate. So I made small marks with a felt pen (see pic), which work perfectly. This are easily erasable without a trace, I will do it for the interested buyer if you want, and provide pics for reassurance. I am amazed by the quality of Sire basses (have an M3), so I couldn't resist to try their fretless - didn't dissappoint. Genuine reason for selling is that I seldom play fretless - but wouldn't mind to keep it. The bass is in mint condition - and currently as most Sire basses sold out from Thomann. Shipping included. No trades please. Cheers! 17. Hi A bit of a feeler, for sale the prettiest Sadowsky I've seen. It's a Metro Will Lee in sherwood green, undersized ash body and maple fingerboard. Made in Japan of course. Controls are the usual vol/bal/tone(VTC)/stacked hi/lo boost, plus a switch for mid-boost (frequency and level adjustable at the rear cavity). This really helps to cut through in busy mixes and allows to get sounds that go beyond what you'd expect from a jazz. Of note, the pickups on this are single coil, but electronics are dead silent. More info here: http://sadowsky.com/sadowsky-instruments/metro-basses/22-fret-basses/ The bass is INCREDIBLY LIGHT for a 5er, just 3.6 kg. The neck is very comfortable, and the wide string spacing makes it easy to slap. The bass is in MINT condition, as new, and includes the original, excellent Sadowsky gig bag. Shipping with UPS included in the asking. Cheers!
