  1. Isn't that a song about gardening, covered by Monty Don, from his album, 'Live at Chelsea'?
  2. If you reckon almost 100 instruments equals 4 wives' worth, you must have a hell of an understanding wife! 😵‍💫
  3. How could I have forgotten good old Les? Les Holroyd of Barclay James Harvest
  4. This guy - Jim Lea from Slade
  5. You need to organise a photograph showing them all, then enter it in the photo competition on this site. This month, it's for 'still life'.
  6. Yes, I must confess to being somewhat anal, re the condition of my basses. An instrument, to me, is a precious object, as I still remember when owning one, was far beyond the realms of possibility for me. Although I love The Who, I always felt annoyed when Pete wrecked yet another guitar.
  7. Best of luck. Get started and give it your best shot. If you find you are enjoying it all, you'll be hooked for life. Let us know how you get on.
  8. Snorkie Likes Jazz?
  9. I have to confess that most of 'maths' in my school was us lot talking about guitars, basses, drums, etc., and staring at things we could never hope to afford in the 'Bell's Catalogue', so it could be your school was 'special' after all (or wasn't full of wanabe rock stars). 🤭
  10. Fender MIJ now up in for sale section and it's North Yorkshire. Worth a look? (and nothing to do with me)
  11. Lubbly jubbly. These AVRIs really look, play and sound the absolute business. GLWTS
  12. Meohmy, that Pedulla is beeootifool!
  13. Nope, but I do know their accordion player, Tommy Banner - small world.
  14. Had this one since '76. Still one of my all-time favourites. My son, Bassimus Minimus, covets this greatly, but he has no chance unless fratricide is involved. My first bass was the one before this one arrived. It was a cheap 'catalogue' bass, badged 'Avon' and was a copy of a Gibson EB0. Stupidly sold it for almost nothing to a guy in Canada
  15. Had one of these many years ago (1978). A fine instrument with an excellent sound. Brings back memories. GLWTS
  16. That is seriously cute and cutely serious. GLWTS
  17. Congratulations on the Dolphin. Here's mine.
  18. Och, Neeps! Down to the bookie's for me then. 😁
  19. Give yourself some time to think it through. As Mr Micawber said, "Something will turn up'. As stated above by Alex, there may be many opportunities yet to come for you. I really hope it works out for you. Do let us on BC know the outcome. Best wishes.
  20. The things we did/do for whatever took/takes our fancy! £900 was a fair amount quarter of a century ago. I'd like to have seen it wearing its original (?) tort guard. My student days were spent surviving on Homepride cook-in sauce as I recall.
  21. I agree about the neck. I'll take a screenshot of your comments in order that, as you say, should it ever be sold-on, any new owner will be aware of what they are buying. It was certainly interesting to read about the bass and pick up some of its 'history'. The dealer you mentioned had another two 70's up for sale at the time I bought this one. Were either of those yours - one was a '78 natural and the other, a '73 Sunburst if I recall?
