1. S5S Welcome back. I use this fingering excersize to warm up with. You can start it anywhere, but the key is to do it smoothly and slowly until you have it with no noises buzzes etc. Once you've done this you can play it as fast as you like. So, starting on any fret and any string, but keeping moving around the fret board 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1 1 4 3 4 2 4 3 4 1. Im sure there are plenty of other and probably better ideas out there but this works for me. It has a bit of history as it was an exersize started by a famous and very well known guitar player. I hope this helps Matt I notice you've grown a second head while youve been away from Bass chat!
2. How about wearing shades and pointing the neck at the audience? maybe?
3. I went to the LCM, it was absolute bo**ocks. Mind you that was back in the eighties when it was in Great Malborough st. matt
4.
I would have though that help with those choices is what Jon is there to do?
Hi yes indeed, but he has only listed a few types of pick up. I just need some basic info on what they are like or whether, because of the 'bespokeness' of such a hand made bass, would it better to spend some extra cash for something better/ different? Im sure Jon is extremley knowledgable is this area, but i do like to research projects before i commit cash to them cheers Matt
5. Hi All. Cheers for your input Luke I have a few more questions for you, but I'll pm you. I think my main concern, as I'm still fairly new to the Bass, is about pickups, the choices of and which is better for which purpose ie do you need different for passive/active and why etc. Would this be dependant on what sort of style of music you intend to play? Hmm Cheers Matt
6. Time to move on, definitely. if you just walked away, do you think they would even notice? matt
7. Hi Im sure ive seen something like this on the site somewhere, but has anyone actually done the group course. It seems like an incredibly good deal. Im fairly well versed in carpentry so am seriously considering this. Any info would be great. Cheers Matt

10. Is it just me? I cant see any of the pics.
11. I imagine if there are any bassists here without a gig it must be because they don't want one.
Hmm, thats not strictly true or fair! I'm still learning and when I feel confident enough in my playing I'll give it a go, just not yet! SOON!

20.
My RIM Custom 5. The joy of a 36" scale thru-neck wenge/ash five with chambered body and outstanding passive electronics. Incomparably HUGE sound and so tonally and dynamically responsive to your playing. Alex
Thats a damn fine looking bass! Blimey. However, i would have to say that my favorite bass is my gsr 180. Its the only bass i know. Otherwise my favorite bass would be a free one! Cheers Matt
21. Hi All. Many thanks for the answers. Alex, i am 6ft 5 so i allways think that headroom is the space i have to get through a door with damaging my head, hence the appropiatition of the term. I think i understand what your saying tho. Cheers Matt
22. Hi WP. thanks for the advice. I take it Ill be right on th elimit then. Does this mean that i will have no 'headroom'? cheers Matt
23. Hi I did try and look this up on the wiki, but i am still not absolutely sure what the correct answer is. if an amp produces 300w at 4 ohms, what does it produce at 8 ohms? I want to try the gallien Krueger backline 600 into my Ashdown 2x10 MAG cab, but i dont want to damage it! Sorry for the dumb question. Cheers in advance Matt
24. I think the sooner we forget about BL the better! strangely enough, i saw an Allegro on the road the other day. sorry for the hijack.....
