1. Your builds are incredible. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living? Must be something to do with carpentry surely?!
 2. I've only had one audition, and that was for my current band. Had only been playing for a year! I kinda dared myself to do it, knowing I had no chance but would be a good experience. I think the reason I got the job was that I got on with the rest of the band. I'd argue its probably the most important thing. I also went with the view that it was me auditioning them as much as them auditioning me. If you're used to playing with mates, its important that you like them as a group, or you'll sonn be looking for a swift exit. I can't really help on the technical side, as long as you've shown willing and committment by trying to learn the songs, and you come across as a decent, laid back fella, I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck.
 3.
And learning to spell........
Wrong! Spelling ain't cool! It means you tried at School - a big no-no. OutToPlayJazz, you're seriously behind on this cool lark! I prescribe a bottle of Jack Daniels and a night of passion with 3 transexual porn stars.
 4.
Haha! So we're all tragically uncool, then? Thought so!
Sitting at home learning to play an instrument, by definition, makes us all uncool. We should be leaning up against a 1950's US Muscle car smoking Marlbroughs.
 5.
Sorry if I was misunderstood or if my message was misunderstood but the fact is that Status is currently selling very well in Europe
] Don't worry! I'm just joking with you!
 6.
So, pray tell me, oh great BBC - What is in fashion bass-wise at the moment?
Synthesisers.
 7.
there is a big hype on Status right now in Europe
I rest my case!
 8.
What about the non-headless versions, eg, T-Bass or The Headed S2 ? Although, I'll grant you the full carbon look on the Stealth is a bit half and half, it's modern...but has a twinge of 80's looks due to the full carbon.
I think the T-Bass and Vintage range have a retro appeal to them, but mostly because they are an updated take on classic instruments. The Headed S2 still looks a bit naff to me (notice I said "to me"!). I think sticking LEDs in the things doesn't help - although I can kinda see the perverse pleasure in making your bass glow, its never been cool since Tron.
 9.
And what would I be looking for...? G
You tell us????
 10.
Jewish...from Queens..NYC.... Parents went through the holocaust,big gangly ..kid...full of aggrassion,took up boxing and Bass,good fighter,good player.
Rubbish - I could have Janek Hammer any day of the week! And he know's it.
 11.
im with you ,even if Fender sound ok , Fenders are so BIG , Heavy , look so antique for 21 century !! i do not want one LOL other basses sound ok too , and looks more small , nice , present..etc www.MakeMusicNews.com
There is nothing modern looking about a Status though! During the mid to late 80's in became fashionable to make things look "futuristic" - that's what you get with a Status. Much like any headless bass. They look 80's. Currently in fashion is a more vintage look. I'm not saying this is the way it should be, but it is reality. Look at "fashionable" bands today - they are playing vintage looking gear. Before all you Status owners pipe up - I'm not knocking them! I'm sure they are genuinely great instruments. I get the impression that OutToPlayJazz genuiinley knows his onions when it comes to bass, and he swears by them. Also, we all know being "cool" isn't cool, so there is nowt wrong with playing or owning a status. The above is just a comment about trends in instruments. I'm still dressed by my mum, so I can hardly claim to be an authority on fashion (although it has been argued that with charm like mine, I could wear a hessian sack and still pull the birds).
 12.
What's a g-spot..... In the bass playing sense?????
In any sense??????
 13. I'm already 7 hours in.
 14. You've upset me, but I forgive you.
 15.
Another amazing lesson from the BBC school of tact & diplomacy! You'd think after several bans, people would learn... But then again those bruises remind me of the old addage of, "What do you tell someone with two black eyes? - Nothing, you've told them twice already!!!"
You make it sound as if I've insulted his mother! GK is a big boy, I think he over-reacted. If you ask people for help on an online forum, you won't always get helpful answers! I'm sure he'll get over it. I've over-reacted before no doubt and been called up on it accordingly. It's no big deal. I question the life some of you guys lead if you think my comments constitute having a proper go at someone! By nature I'll always confront people. I never do it with malice. I'm sure GK is smart enough to know that. If not, he should drop me a PM and we'll have a e-cuddle. Otherwise, listen to the advice my late old man gave me when I was suffering from a hang over one day; "Get yourself an empty pint glass, go the fridge, and pour yourself a big glass of toughen-the-f***-up." Nice fella my old man.
 16.
This makes me laugh. BBC impresses us all with his discerning insight that I was 'throwing my toys outta my pram' and annoyed at the tardiness of requested assistance. Maybe, just maybe I made a sarcastic comment in relation to an unhelpful and judgemental reply to my request for a bit of help. Then again maybe bbc knows me best?
Of course I know you best GreeneKing, and I write these things for your own good. I don't want to hi-jack your thread (although, given the fact that you've already bought the bass, it's no longer relevant), I just think you over-reacted. I also think you took the initial response (which was a throw away comment) to heart somewhat. If you can post on basschat, why can't you look up the RRP online - or am I missing the point? As for starting my own thread, what would be the point? Shall I title it "I think GreeneKing was a bit snappy the other day, but apart from that seems like a decent fella"?
 17.
Shame for sure but I'd rather see it moderated and be helful and long lasting than unmoderated and decend into some of the daftness we've seen...
Am I the only person who hasn't noticed an increase in daftness recently? There's always been daft threads and daft posts. I don't think its a new phenomenon. I was reading through a Jeff Berlin's post on TalkBass and he seems to have a sense of humour. I genuinely want to know where he gets his circa 1984 Hi-Techs from.
 18. This thread cracked me up! Ask for advice and throw your toys out the pram when you don't get it quick enough! Am I better off overpaying on my mortgage given we're on a tracker, or should I put the extra money available due to a low interest rate into an ISA? Quick. The Meter's running you bastards!
 19.
BTW BBC, next time you say something tongue in cheek, might be useful to use an emoticon perhaps? It does reduce the potential for miscommunication and saves on the need for moderation too. Thanks.
What do you think the chances of me using emoticons are?
 20. Actually, there's something of the "Ron Jeremy" about Jeff Berlin.
 21.
The most famous member I can think of is John Wayne Bobbit's.
John Holmes' for me.
 22.
He's from London, his dad was Polish hence the name. I agree with everything you say about hoping people don't spoil it for others, there are a lot of people on here, mysellf included who do want to improve as players, and having people like Janek, Steve and Jeff Berlin can only be a good thing.
I agree, but we shouldn't tip-toe round members just because they're famous. That truly is pathetic.
 23.
Yeah, he could have handled it a bit better although so could everyone else on the forums. I don't have any problem with him getting called on a few things but I think the way it happened just got totally out of hand.
I just re-read some of that thread, and I gotta say, Janek Hammer came across as a bit of a dick to be honest! I'm sure he's a decent fella and an incredible musician, but he needs to chill out a bit! He was hardly even being criticized! What happened to Steve Lawson? *and as an aside, those 2 aren't the only pros we've had on here.
 24.
That's a pretty sweeping statement.
Yeah. It's also pretty tongue-in-cheek.
 25.
Do you think Im gonna bother with the likes of you when I,eventually, hit the big time....? Yeah....right
In the world of UK bass forums, I've already hit the big time. I'm probably more famous than Janek Hammer or whatever his name is.
