I've heard of them but I get a real 'pay to play' feel from them. And is that the most pointlessly complicated website ever?
I wish it would just state what they do and how they make their money!

Our band has been contacted by these guys to do a "showcase" gig: http://www.jarmusicgroup.com/ There's lots of T&C's (some of which seem strange to me). Anyone had any dealings with them? Looking at the website, I can't really understand what they do? Any thoughts?
BUT I dont want to borrow gear...ever! Am I a cnut for bringing my rig as a support band member?
Nah, bring it. Its the f***ers with 4 guitars for 30 mins on a wednesday night.

I usually just use the house amp. If there isn't one (and given the venues we play, there almost always is) I'll ask nicely. I'm a plug in a play kinda guy, so I won't even adjust their amp, so its not as if they have to f*** around eq'ing when they get up to play. Also, i f***ing hate these f***ers who clog up the stage with every bit of kit they've ever purchased. Its the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, not Webley Stadium.

I always show up without an amp. In fact, never played a gig with my own amp! Impressive hey!
Nice work putting this up hours after I bumped mine. Two together would be great, with the crossover. Man, that would be awesome wouldn't it? We should price fix.
I didn't notice there was another one for sale. I don't know what crossover is, but it sounds like fun. * *Edit - just looked it up. What use would this be at a Jewish Festival commemorating God sparing the Jews when He killed the first born of Egypt?

Selling these to fund a hit on Brian Sewell. Please dig deep people. This is one of the US made white face models. Its covered in carpet which is a bit scruffy and the corner protectors miss a bit of paint, but this thing is as solid as you'll ever find. It'll be around when cockroaches inherit the earth. Its f***ing powerful: 700 Watts @ 2 Ohms, 475 Watts @ 4 Ohms, 275 Watts @ 8 Ohms. The specs are online should you care to look, but to summarise, its got a 3 band EQ, contour control and a built in crossover for biamping. Don't ask me what this means, but you lot seem to like this kind of stuff. I bought this of Alien, who knows his onions when it comes to amps, who previously fitted a Speakon socket to the amp. The cab is made by GM Audio in essex. Its vinyl covered with silver grills. Really well made and hardly a mark on it. It runs to at least 300w at 8ohm. Got a good old school tone and goes well with the Firebass. I'll try and add some pics of the cabs (pics courtesy of Dangee who I bought this off): There...managed it. f***ing surprised myself. I'm not going to split these. And they're too heavey to post. The Firebass weighs sh*t-loads. I live in Kent, so these are collection only. Could maybe deliver or meet half-way, depends on what you're like at giving hand-jobs. The price? I'm open to offers. If no one makes an offer, I'll probably get bored and slap a price on here and get cursed by some 14 year old for asking for too much.
Jazz, like any other art form has its individual limits of understanding. Take art itself - we can all understand a Constable and most old portraits; for some, the Impressionists may be a bit challenging. Plenty of people just about get Picasso and Dali etc. Rothko? - fewer still, and so it goes. There are several examples of modern art that I just can't begin to understand but I concede that there are people out there who do understand and enjoy those works. So it is with jazz. What's not to like about some of the early stuff, Louis Armstrong for example? Then we get into 'modern jazz' (actually 50 years old at least) much of which is readily understandable, although some of the extended solos were a bit tedious. Thelonious, Ornette, Coltrane - bit more challenging; and so it goes. There is so much in jazz and so much to learn and enjoy. There's something for everyone.
Jazz fans do as much damage to the genre as the music itself. You guys seem to think that there are 2 groups or people: Those who like Jazz and those that don't understand it. Wrong! There are those that (probably pretend) to like it and those that think it's utter sh*t. I'm told you can't dismiss an entire genre. But I've yet to hear a jazz song I like. I'm not getting any younger, and I just don't have time to invest in music I need to force myself to like just so I can wear a blazer over a roll-neck sweater. Its the musical equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome. You fellas have spent a long time trying to like this stuff, that you have somehow fallen in love with it. It reminds me of those annoying f***ers who recommend a film (usually something sh*t like The Beach or Fight Club). When you tell them that it was f***ing sh*t, they say"well you clearly didn't understand it". Yes I f***ing did, and I also understand that your opinion isn't worth sh*t! Most improvisation is bollocks. Improvise when writing the thing, pick the best version, and there you go, you've got your song. Quite frankly, I couldn't care what mood you're in when you play it live.
Impossible. You clearly don't get it, or you wouldn't ask such a question!
The reason I asked is that I don't want to spend 3 years learning the language of Jazz to find out that I was right all along and that it was utter sh1te.

Are you allowed to "get" Jazz but just not like it?

Is 'Headless' about to come back into fashion?
BigBeefChief replied to ARGH's topic in General Discussion
How many of you anti-headless people have actually played one, I wonder...? You may very well reject things on looks, but when the practicalities outweigh your tastes, there's no argument really. Just to show I'm not a one-brand man, I've really loved the look of these since Warwick reissued them this year... I give you the Warwick Nobby Meidel signature bass I love how they've mixed a comparitively low-tech solution with such incredible materials! Rich.
How do you put it down? -
This plus this," Am I the only Basschatter who wanted McCain to win?" = grow up?
Supporting McCain makes me immature? OK mate. I'd suggest there are plenty people smarter than you and I who voted for him. My comment was in relation to the fact that I said I disagreed with you and you came back with a sh*tty comment. Usally I'd stick around to argue, but last night I just couldn't be bothered. I asked ARGH why he rated JF so much. He gave his answer. You had a snipe and I said I disagreed. Remarkably mature for me I think. ARGH has a ceratin way of communicating, so you not what to expect before readong a post. He's not the type to sit on the fence. I don't always agree with him, but at least its entertaining. ARGH is not a reflection of JF and JF's creations are not a reflection of ARGH. You seem to struggle with this concept, and as such, I could not be bothered entering into an argument about it. Steve-soar, you have been on BC for some time now. You should know not to question me. I'm always right. And what was that JPEG labelled? I'm dying to know. I won't be upset! I'm sure its probably pretty funny (and probably childish - so grow up!). Drop me a PM if you want. I happily take the piss out of myself.
You know what, I think you are right, I can see clearly now that I am totally wrong and have imagined ARGH's abusive, sorry passionate replies were all figments of my imagination.
Grow up.
I don't think Mr ARGH is a good ambassador for Jim Fleeting. He is far too aggressive to people who show anything but praise to Mr Fleeting. I'm sure Jim is very grateful for the commissions from ARGH but in my eyes, ARGH is doing a disservice to Jim, as he is portraying himself as some kind of pitbull to Jims reputation and this is putting me off from having anything to do with Jim. I personally think Jims creations are stunning, a mix of a deep understanding of the arts and crafts of the 19th century, renaissance building and good communication with the customer, indeed, I would relish the opportunity to try one of Jims creations.
I disagree. If I was a luthier, I'd love to inspire that kind of passion. It's passionate stuff this music game. I can appreciate that ARGH's views are his own, and not Jim Fleeting's.
