1. Apparently he used to be pretty popular up north.
2.
So what about the bridge? They finally woke up after 25 years of people putting Baddass replacements in? Other manufacturers have been using lightweight sturdy tuners for years - the fact that a 4-string Fender has neckdive is a joke.
I'm not a "fender-head" but I've never played a more comfortable bass than my Jazz. I've A/B'd it against a fender USA with Badass and couldn't hear any difference. The bridge is plenty sturdy enough for me. As for neck dive - really??? Maybe its how I hold my bass, but I've never experienced it with any fender bass.
3.
I must admit, I haven't played one of the new ones, but the jazz should've kept the S1 switching system. It was like having two basses in one. I really liked mine
I agree. Why remove it? There was no positives from taking it away.
4.
reviews have been very good as well.
By who? BassGuitarMagazine? Their reviews aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Far to keen to keep the manufacturers sweet. It really does them a disservice. I've played the new American Standard, and for me, it represents a step backwards. I own the old US standard and wouldn't swap.
5. What the hell are you guys playing???
6. Nik, Cheers for the heads up. I will try get over there saturday and check it out. Seems a strange thing to stock given their usual lack of bass stuff. If I'm feeling flush I may take a punt on it.
7.
I'm half git then
Which is half less than me!
8.
There's the same blinkered view of C&W by many which compares to the "Jazz Club" view of jazz in general.
But Jazz is for gits. We've established that.
9. I think its great. Give me some C&W over (modern) R&B any day. And I'm 26, so its not just an age thing. I really need to check out some more contemporary Country. Unfortunately, living in the UK, you need to actively search for it - and I'm pretty lazy.
10. Welcome loafer. You sound like an interesting fella. Where are you from originally?
11. It looks like a surfboard.
12. Hate is a very strong word.
13. My missus hates me playing bass. F*cking hates it. Each night, the only time I get to practice is when she goes to brush her teeth before bed. Hence I'm a terrible bass player. She bought me my first bass, but is totally unsupportive. Not just in bass, but in eveything I ever do. Lucky me.
14. Its the neck profile that concerns me, and I know exactly what you mean by narrow yet bulky (Hofner-esque). Where did you play it?
15. He's a good looking chap. In a John Wilson kinda way.
16. Welcome Roger. Good intro.
17. I quite fancy one of these. Please someone tell me that Machine played a friday afternoon jobbie.
18. Ref: the original clip. I managed to sit through it twice. Although I can't say I enjoyed or liked it, its much better than most. I can see the guys talent and I can almost tap my foot to some of it. And that for me is a giant leap. I'm off to drown myself in a shallow bath.
19.
BBC - for that money you could get yourself a nice Warwick Rckbass
Tempting. Just so I can destroy it before it gives someone else cancer.
Or two similar vintage JapCraps from the same era & probably factory: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GUYATONE-we-think-GO...emZ120262650694 If you can find another one... J.
Unfortunately I'm unable to purchase or sell things on ebay.
20. I quite like the headstock - kind of a mini version on the body shape.
21. Just seen this and my pay check is burning a hole in my pocket: http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_jtkb200_bsb.htm Not usually an Ibanez man, but this is causing a huge swelling in the ol' speedos. Anyone played one? What are the necks like? Any views? Cheers all. BBC
22. ben, you are king of bumps. Have another one. I admire your persistance.
23. Can't believe I haven't posted here yet! Bought a Peavey Firebass off him a while back. A good guy to deal with and a nice fella. He was also very understanding about my late arrival due to my car breaking down on the way.
24. Welcome.
25. I like your agressive bumping technique. Reminds me of an ex-girlfriend......
