1. Its not his bass! If something is broken into 14 peices, glued back together with missing bits replaced, and laminated all over, its a different instrument! Bass Player magazine will tell you that construction and materials used make a big difference to tone, but, as if my miracle "Jaco's Bass" has been ran over by a taxi and not changed a bit. These fella should have been handed a bass blindfolded and not told what it is. I'm not so sure they'd be saying the same thing.
2. Are you saying the unbiased journalist and the musicians they pay (who are unknown outside of the bas playing community) of Bass Player magazine would attach a disproportionate amount of praise on an instrument just because some dead hippy once played a couple of notes on tiny percentage of the parts which now constitute said bass? I'm fed up with you conspiracy theorists.
3.
Yep... with the rope round his neck!! Sorry Sean... couldn't resist!
You're not the first to suggest it. My girlfriend is always saying how she wishes I was well hung.
4. Do Yamaha make instruments now? Wow.
5. Burpster, tell me more about those big butch manly hands...... .....I'm close.
6. It's not rape. It's just surprise sex.
7. P is definitely masculine and I think J is probably feminine. You can still play a P and be straight though. Think of it like wrestling with a buddy. Warwicks definitely make you gay though. I'd rather be plucking a Fender than f*cking a bender. p.s. Vote J.
8. Probably prefer the sound of a P, but don't like the necks. A J with S1 works for me. I vote J. And I suggest you do the same, or I will smash your God-Damn face in.
9. For sale, a Harley Benton Beat Bass. These had some decent reviews a while back, seemed people went through a phase of buying them (I was one of them). I've had this about 6/8 months. Ordered when drunk but fortunately never regretted it. Plays and sounds much better than it should seeing it cost £110. This has never left my flat, not a mark on it apart from a slight blemish on the side of the fretboard (which it came with) where it looks like someone has scuffed the varnish when first applied. I can take pics if people really want to see them, but it looks like this: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_beatbass.htm Spec is: plywood body with flamed maple top, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, die cast tuners and viola tailpiece. 2x volume and 1x tone controls. 2x humbucker pick-ups and chrome hardware. Colour: Vintage Sunburst. This is a fun bass, great for pulling out for the Macca numbers. Also, due to the hollow body, its reasonably loud acoustically, so good for noodling in front of The Weakest Link with. I'm not looking for much cash. Does £60 sound OK? If not, tell me. I'm in Tonbridge, Kent, but work in London. Can deliver over most of the South East. I can't post this ANYWHERE.
10.
You really needed that ego boost, Sean.
Yeah, I was starting to think that I may be fallible.
11.
you mean you owe me a beer! Or has your live career disintigrated already?
Don't get smart. You forget I'm a legend round here. You should just be happy to have my company. I might buy you a lemonade.
12. I recieved quite a few PM's thanking me for my criticism of BGM's reviewing system in the Toothache Gwizdala thread. It seems they've listened to the 'Chief and established a slightly more thorough system. Still think its a cop-out comparing two amps head to head and giving them the same score though. Its one or the other guys! Its still the best music mag out there though.
13. jakesbass, next time you visit drop me a PM. You owe me a beer.
14. I'm gonna give this a bash on staurday: http://www.psst.co.uk/bassworld/photos2004/ALEjeexp01.jpg
15. This: http://www.psst.co.uk/americanguitars/bass.htm is my local music shop and about 2 mins walk from my house. Amazingly, I have yet to try an Alembic, even though they have a wall full of them. The batteries put me off.
16. I'd like to think its doinfg them a favour? Maybe they don't realise that other shops treat people differently?
17. Next time I'm the area, I'm going to go in there and ask them if they realise what the perception of them is. I'm going to be polite, but I'll put them on the spot and ask them why they're so unfriendly. I will report back.
18. John Myung. His lack of eyebrows also freaks me out.
19. Sounds hot. Is he well hung?
20. What does Brian from Wunjo look like?
21. ....and it doesn't actually lead to Denmark.
22. The site of 5 strings on a bass makes me physically sick. It's like a woman with flat shoes on.
23. ^^^ Not really. I can play bass but I'm no way a musician. How hard can 4 strings be?
24. I see you play with a pick.
25. About this loud: Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
