1. Standard, but I like an extremely high tension string, so I have been using 50-110 so far. Just feels reassuring to have the string fight back at a gig, if you know what I mean. That and it stops guitarists from playing it Zach
2. OK, I'm looking for a super heavy set of strings, and 65-130 sounds plenty heavy. Anybody got any or know where to buy them? I guess that the Warwick Black Label Low B strings would be good as well maybe? Zach
3. If only you lived in England, because i have the 1x15 version of this cab and would be willing to trade you for it. Don't suppose your down in the Midlands any time soon? Zach
4. I assume that the slave amp would have to be the same or a higher wattage to handle the signal? And would you need to use a speaker lead or would just a normal do it, which i doubt but would just like to be sure. Zach
5. Mwahaha, finally come into cash, so I may have to make this mine soon. Pm will be on its way should I decide to buy it. Zach
6. I like the stealth 'Ray, just looks awesome to me. Not to sure about the really pointy one though, doesn't look good to me, but the Axis bass is nice I think. Zach
7. I use both, often during the same song. My quick switching is all down to me just dropping the pick or grabbing one off of wherever I left it. Just makes more sense to be able to do both techniques to me, because my teacher taught me with both, and I can use both easily. Zach
8. I have the MBC 115, great cab, especially for the price. Yet to be gigged though, only rehearsals so far. Zach
9. I think that Seasick Steve was the best act I've seen on Hootenanny, shame he wasn't on again I thought. Overall it was alright, but some of the acts could have been better. Zach
10. Feck off, I'm still waiting to leave school. Oh yeah, Happy New Year and all that lol Zach
11. How much would it cost me to get you to make me one of these? Because seeing what you came out with is making me GAS like hell. Its absolutely beautiful. Zach
12. Damn it, I just had £200 as well. Don't suppose there is anything your looking for that I could trade with you? Zach
13. I have an Ashdown Hyperdrive pedal, great sounding distortion tones, also very versatile, if you know what you are doing with it. Mine didn't have a manual so I was lost for a while, until I decided to stop panicking and figure out what the names of each knob meant. Works great for me. Unfortunately I broke the switch so I have decided to just have the mix know quite low until I need to get dirty for some songs, where I just turn it all the way up. Zach
14. I have been told that I'm quite good technically and in what I play i.e it fits the music. I've also been told that our singer isn't exactly fantastic by people who claim they can sing better, and that their band is so much better, despite them being utter sh1te. All relative I suppose. Zach
15. I like Ricks, just something about the shape that looks good to me. Except when its stood up, then I think its ugly as f*ck. Think its the arm rest bit, just sticks out too much when its stood up, but looks OK when worn on a strap. Zach
16. Set of Ernie Balls and my gf said she's got me something bass related, but I don't see her for a while unfortunately Zach
17. All black, with black strings, just for the extra black it brings to it. Shame that you can't get frets coated that would last. Zach
18.
I like my strings dead. Flatwounds for my new strings?
Yeah, probably a good choice. I doubt you do any, but dn't bother trying any slap or anything like that with flats, it sounds terrible. Zach
19. I actually like most of the shapes mentioned on here, funnily enough. I like Warwick Thumbs etc. but I'm not particularly keen on the Dolphin shape. I especially like Explorer shape basses, just something about them appeals to me. Zach
20. A bit OT, but I was wondering, what do people recommend as a very bright string that holds its tone for a while, in 50-110 gauge. If possible without silk wrappings as well, but doesn't need to be. Any help greatly appreciated. Zach
21. Just like to add my gf to the 'Partners cool with GAS attacks' list. Admittedly, we are only 14 and 15, me the younger of us, but its been about 20 months now, and she has supported me with everything since started, loaning me cash if I'm a few quid short of something. She's fantastic and I love her as much as a 14 year old can love anyone. Zach
22. -------- -------- -7------ ----5--3 That's my bit done. Glad its only one note, otherwise I'd be well and truly buggered. Zach
23. At The Vic in Derby, don't know if any of you have played there, but you pay a fixed charge to book the place, which is essentially paying for the PA and the sound man, then you keep any money from tickets or on the door. They take their money from the bar. You promote yourself however you can, and the put the date on their month long gig plan and website. Its much easier then what you lot appear to experience, because there's no promoter getting in the way, and there's a good sized space to fit a crowd of about 150 inside, so suppose its you and another support band, £5 a ticket, 120 people or so, then you make £600, take away the fixed charge of £50 I think it is, say another £150 for the support band, then you walk away with £400. More places should be like that in my opinion. Zach
24. I've used the Art direct box before. I can't remember which one, but it seemed solid enough, gave a very 'True' sound, very little changed from what my sound was. I think that you can find them on Studiospares relatively cheaply. Zach
25. Right, I'll be coming to this, Might need a lift from the station, if that's alright with you. I sort of know your lad Luke anyway Zach
