1.
The Peter Gunn theme
My school jazz band that I'm in plays this, and it always hurts my hand after. Not sure if its already been mentioned, but N.I.B by Sabbath, Geezer Butler is fantastic Zach
 2.
Definitely email Ashdown - I reported the same problem to them on the first review model they sent to me. The 2nd one has been fine (well I did buy it..) They will probably refer you to where you bought it for a warranty repair/replacement though.
OK, thanks for the advice guys, Ill sort it out with Ashdown when I have some spare time to send an email their way. Zach
 3. All I can do is repeat what other people have said, don't get lost, turn up on time, get to know the place, but most of all, enjoy yourself That's what gigging is all about for me, not the money, or the fame (not that we get too much of that anyway ) Good luck with it, and if you do mess up, laugh it off. I usually just look at the rhythm guitarist and grin. Zach
 4. Right, here's the deal, my Hyperdrive is damaged, not sure how or why, but I suspect its the foot switch that has become damaged in a high energy mid gig moment. All that happens when I step on it is that it gives off a small, weak click, and the effect and L.E.D stays active. I doubt a picture would help, because I just opened it up, and the wires are still attached to the switch lugs. Is it just a case of removing the switch, then replacing it, or could it be something else? Zach
 5.
The Visual Sound Volume pedal is the best in my experience! It's got LEDs to show how loud you are, so you don't have to rely on your ears alone! Great idea IMO. The older version (if you can find it) should be pretty cheap, but the new version has blue LED's and some other fancy options like stereo outputs and stuff. Hope this has been of some help, and good luck finding the one for you!
Not used, but would love to try it out. Whats the UK price? Zach
 6.
I'm lucky I love Punk and I'm sh*t works out nicely.
Sid Vicious
 7. I can't stand it, I usually just mute it in between changing channels. Zach
 8. I hate it when bands are late for setting up and sound checking, just p1sses me off so much. My band always turns up at the same time, often in the same van, with all of our equipment prepared earlier that day to prevent problems, at least a half hour early. In fact, we regularly play the Barrow BBQ, and even though we were not on until around 8, we were there at 2 in the afternoon, set up and ready to go, sound checked through the PA of the DJ who was there as usual as well. We always make sure to be friendly to other bands on the bill, but if they are late, and won't give a decent reason for it, I will give them sh1t for it. Zach
 9.
Airbourne - Runnin Wild, for those who don't know they are a bunch of young aussie rockers who sound cunningly like Bon era ACDC.
Those guys rule, seriously, I haven't heard any band sound so awsome in the way they do in a long time
Skindred! listening to 2 of there albums at the moment: 'Babylon' and 'Roots Rock Riot' Definatly something to listen to if you like something thats a bit different! Reggae Metal haha http://www.myspace.com/skindred xx Edit: myspace address
Skindred kick @ss I haven't seen them live, but I will soon hopefully
Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High. Sodding brilliant album. Excellent taste, sir.
Did I read that right? Fall Out Boy and brilliant album in the same sentence? I hate Fall Out Boy with a passion, and seeing the way Download festival has been going, they will probably headline it soon enough, and if its next year, Im sure as hell not going for my 15th Zach
 10.
I hope it's better than last year, which should have been renamed Guitar Live. Not enough there for us 'low-stringers' to warrant the entrance fee IMO (nice to meet Mark on the Bass Direct stand however) Looking down the A-Z list of confirmed exhibitors doesn't seem to have improved from last year...shame
I know what you mean about last year, although to be fair it did'nt matter much to me, because i had bugger all cash to spend hopefully I should have money this year, so I may purchase something if I feel like it lol Zach
 11. Whats the Sledgehammer like? Dean basses have always interested me, and if i like the sound of what it sounds like () I might get one at music live if I like it. Zach
 12.
.... Ommmmmm ... ah...wait a minute..... it's coming through now..... by the mystic power of profile viewing ... 14!? a mere bass playing foetus!... consider me shamed!
Aha, cheat lol, but yh, i am currently the youngest, as far as i can tell lol i could also be the least experienced, gi wise, with a grand total of... 4, i believe lol Zach
 13. Who's going to music live this year? If enough people go, we could have an area to meet up and show off our purchases Zach
 14.
Mike Portnoy?!?
that's what I was thinking, just couldn't remember the name lol and one of me, to put you all to shame because im quite possibly the youngest here, have a guess at my age Was taken at out last gig by a friend who also happened to be doing something or other in photography Zach
 15.
apologies for the silly cartoon, but this: Saw it a few times live and his tone actually did bring a few tears.
Everyone say it with me! 3,2,1... complicated! lol does look like a good rig, but if something cuts out, good luck trying to find it lol Zach
 16.
Mine is basically what I have now, but in a case that I am having made, with a couple of additions. To wit: Vigier basses > Roland Vbass > Line6 pod XT pro > out to IEMs and mixer/PA (Would maybe add a rack tuner and rack mixer) In a case that looks something like this- not a very good picture but when closed up the unit will only be about up to my knee: It will be light and easy to move and cater for my IEM addiction and be excellent for live and studio work. There is a place in Witney, Oxfordshire who I am discussing the case with. It will be made of quite lightweight stuff in flight case stylee. I only adjust the Vbass when mucking about as I can switch between patches and perform basic parameter changes from my bass, so having it up higher will be great. The pod I never really touch as the main setting I have spent so long getting is just amazing so now it functions as a pre-amp basically. Cheers ped
Thats pretty nice ped, when do you think your going to have it by? I imagine that would be versatile enough for anything, and considerably easier to move around then an amp and that gear, for instance my 50 watt is up to my knee, weighs a ton, and is a bugger to move because of the top mounted handle. Zach
 17. I think i would have gone The Who lol, but with my instrument being replaced with something like a golf club, and the other equipment replaced with the limiter, because that would have pissed me off no end , having the power go out repeatedly. In fact, the last party my band played, the person who booked us actually instructed us to be loud, purely because he didn't like his neighbors, which provided no end of amusement Zach P.S: The idea of a rock band being... quiet is sacrilegious
 18.
that will pair well with this then:
F*ck me, i thought i had found the biggest stack! those two paired together could be used as WMD's if they weren't to bothered about their own hearing lol Zach
 19.
Only GS10's? Why not get two DB810's or DG412's? Isn't this an imaginary and impractical dream rig or is it strictly sensible and boring?
This is a thread of the imaginary and impractical kind, hence my choice of the 36x10 monster lol Zach
 20.
The Rex Brown has a very punchy, slightly scooped tone due to the EMG-Hz pickups and circuit. For a more genuine growl/grind with more mids I'd recommend updating the pickups with full EMG's....
Ahh, interesting, (you can't tell, but Im stroking my imaginary beard right now lol) If I ever do buy one, I'll take your advice as soon as i can. What EMG's do you recommend? Zach
 21.
Hey Zach, I was just looking at the picture & then your moniker... 5StringDeath? Are you planning to vapourise a large proportion of the audience with that monster rig? Rich
Mwahaha, you have discovered my master plan, and now you shall.... i don't know, haven't gotten that far lol
Was that the Ampeg cab made for the guy from Dokken many moons ago (showing my age and musical roots here ) or is that a recent pic?
lol, unfortunately, I have no idea, I only found the picture on google after a search for Ampeg Stack, I think its on TalkBass
a 36x10, whats the wattage of that!
IIRC, its 600 watt all valve head, or something along those lines lol, and apparently, (insert players name here) had two of themfor a gig at wembley, although i dont remember who lol Zach
 22. Right, we've all seen the rigs already owned by many of us, so now lets see the rigs we would all like to own, both amps AND basses lol. I reckon that if people can be bothered, could be interesting lol I'll start with mine. Amp-wise, this 36x10 monster Admit it, if you saw it, you would have a go lol. Although i dont think it would fit in my local venue , or that anyone in general, not just my band would appreciate me using that within about 10 miles of civilization And for the bass, the Spector NS-5XL in green lol (I assume at this point Cetera will jump in lol) Zach
 23. Cetera, whats the Rex Brown signature sounding like? I'd love to try one out, because Pantera are one of my favourite bands and i always thought his tone was kick ass lol Zach
 24. Mines called Allison, after my mates mum lol long story short, we were on annual camp with cadets, we were going out in the field and had been issued rifles. Our section commander asks us 'What's yours called?' and after a few minutes we all had names for our rifles. i named my rifle Allison to piss my mate off, and since then i take to calling every inanimate object around me Allison when he's here lol Zach
 25. Unleash by Soulfly its actually pretty good, considering i never listened to them before Zach
