If you are thinking of getting a TC Electronic BH 500 bass head (like me), you should get it now. I just learned that it's gone out of production, and the company will focus on their BH 550 instead. The BH 500 is great for the price, so if you want one - and see one left in the shop - get it now

Thanks, I'll go with "smoother" rather than "louder". I had a Behringer BVT 5500 a very short while. It was loud, but smoothit was NOT. That one had to go, so at the moment I use a Gallien Krueger MB200. Great little thing, but I was hoping than getting 500 watt would give me more power, that the 200 I have now.
I've got both amps & I love them both! If you can afford both, get them both, as they are equally loud but have differing features. The LH500 has a simpler EQ, a good Valve Pre Amp & an effects loop. The BH500 has a tuner & mute facility, a great compressor and a more expansive EQ.
Thank you for answering. At the moment I have a 400 watt 4x10" Warwick cab (4 ohm). How about the tone from the two amps, do they sound the same, or is one "warmer/fuller" sounding than the other?

Looking for a powerful and low priced head. I like both the TC Electronic BH500 and Hartke LH500. Both within the desired price range and wattage. For playing party music from the 60/70/80's and no metal whatsoever, what are your thoughts on these? Alternatives in the same category would be welcome, thanks

Actually I went for a Fender 50's Classic. I picked out 3 Squiers and 2 Fenders, and sat down with them for an hour. After one hour, this one came out a winner

A guy I know actually bought a Affinity P bass. Got a used US Fender pickup and put it into his Affinity. He's now a happy bassplayer. Thank you for all your help, I will try out all 3 CV P basses, If I can find a shop somewhere, that has them in stock

Thank you for info, yellowcar - Nice to know

I'm done with Jazz basses, just sold the one I had. Now I'm looking for a buddy for my Sandberg P-bass. It's gonna be a Squier, on that I'm pretty sure, but what model? First I was thinking on the fretless P, but then there are the Matt Freeman model, the Classic Vibe, the Vintage Modified..... There are no retailers I can try them all out at, so I try to get you guys to point me in the right direction. What Squier P-bass will be a good choice? I play in two bands (southern rock and a folk/blues band) The tone are nice from the fretless I'm told - but so are the Matt Freeman. I'm looking for a fat, rich oomph from the bass, and an easy playable versatile instrument to handle. BTW - I will be putting flatwounds on it, the second I get it What to do, folks?

I have Fender flatwounds on my P-bass, and I love the tone I get. I tried flats on my J-bass, but I really didn't like it much - so I actually sold the Jazz bass I'm mostly a P-bass guy, so I better run out and get another P instead of the J I sold - and Fender flats will be on it in a jiffy
-
Yep. I put some flats on it, and I like the tone it gives me - so I now have flats on all my basses

I like flatwounds - I have them on my P bass, and it sounds great. The other day I was putting flatwounds on my J bass, and I don't think it sounds all that great. Then I got the idea of putting them on my SR600 instead. Anyone using flatwounds on their SR bass - and do you like the tone you get?

Hi Can anyone tell me about a ten years old HA5000? Worth buying? I don't know about the 2x250 watt thing, but I have 2 400 watt cabs at 4 ohm, is that a go or no go? What ohms can the HA500 operate with, and would a new LH500 be a better choice? I think I could get a new LH500 for twice the price I will have to pay for the ten years old HA5000. Thanks for all info

Did something completely different, bought a used Warwick cab - 400 watt at 4 ohm. I'm glad I did that, it sounds great

I have a Warwick WCA 410 (400 watts at 4 ohm) and a EBS Evolution 115 (400 watts at 4 ohm), plus two different heads I'm using ( a GK MB200 - 200 watt at 4 ohm as well as the 550 watt backup, (Behringer BVT 5500).Will check out the Warwick cab with the small head tomorrow along with a band. I actually got the Behringer pretty cheap, but surprinsingly it doesn't sound all that bad

Thank you Bill, for the information
Why would you want to connect both at once..? Simply curious, or a real problem needing solution..?
410 for the punch and power + 115 for the low end and deep bass tones. I was guessing both cabs would be louder that just the one alone
-
Ohm, I feel the headache coming on already. Two cabs at 4 ohm, that's trouble, isn't it? Since my amp (I think) can't handle 2 ohm, there is no way to plug in my 1x15" and 4 x10" (both rated 4 ohm) at the same time, just one of the cabs, right?

How Many watts are people pusling though the one or two BC212?
How much are you looking to spend?
Just trying to convert to US dollars, the new Laney is around $385 and the used Peavey is $175
-
Sorry if the images aren't showing up - here are the direct links to the images https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2576680/peavey.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2576680/Laney.jpg I don't know what series the Peavey is from, other than it's 5 years old, and 350 watt
-
I am getting a new 4x10 cabinet. I could get a new Laney RB410 600 watt, or for half the price get a 5 y.o. Peavey 350 watt. I don't know if either of them is from a cheap series like the Hartke TP - but Hartke Transporter series is not what I'm looking for. What cabinet sounds best (I know, not a very scientific question), but is either of the cabs from a cheap discount series? Sorry, I don't have the exact name of the Peavey cab, but I'll try to enclose images of both cabinets. Thanks

I think I'm gonna like the B3 a lot. Thanks for clearing up my questions :-)
-
Thanks, if that's the case - I better start putting money aside for the Fender Bassman (that's the amp simulation I really like)
-
Just starting to get the hang of my Zoom B3. There's a few patches I could find useful, but I'm wondering about the amp simulations - are they close the the real thing? The sound of the simulation of the Fender Bassman, the Eden and the Markboost patch is just my kinda thing. BUT - are they anything like the real deal, or just a sound with a cool name to it? Hope you get my blabbering...
-
Thanks guys, I really hope the B3 to be a handy tool for my bass (never used effects before)
