1. A NEW TWIST it's definitely broken, its also not covered by the warranty. new dilemma. Do i pay to get it fixed or do i get a refund and get a new one? either way i end up spending more money, but im considering the repair as it only cost £50 to start with. anyone had any experience with Boss when it comes to repairs? Ben
2. that does help, cheers.

4. Hi, I recently got a Boss SYB-5 as a gift from my gf, i tried it out last night, following all the diagrams and set up instructions just to be on the safe side... and nothing happens. I think the problem might be in the actual switch, on other pedals ive used the switch underneath the main part of the pedal has always clicked when changing on/off, this switch doesn't click. it moves up and down but it doesnt feel like doing it's doing anything. I've not had really any experience with this kinda thing so i just wanted to check it's not something really obvious that i'm missing. I'm not keen on taking it apart in case i void any warranty it might have. So if you could let me know if its broken or if i'm stupid, that'd be extremely helpful. I'm gona take it down to the guitar shop tomorrow and get them to have a look at it. Only problem is she bought it off ebay, though the box does have a soundcontrol label on it... Ben
5. in true punk style. thats the one i threw across the stage cos it cut out on me, only for it to start working again mid air. sounded beautiful when it hit the floor.
6. PUNK BASS 2! just in time... sorry about the pics, my phone camera seems to have a hole in it...
7. ppphhhwwooooaaaar this is getting complicated. I'll direct the guys in the direction of this and see if they can make sense of it... I'm perfectly happy for the horns to stay put in front of their 57s... But thanks a lot, some really useful info
8. Ok, well ive tried adjusting the pickups, its definitely lowered the output but hasn't really affected the sound. I run it in passive mode nearly all the time and have the volume rolled off too. I'm gona try out a few more basses, see if the jazz neck really is that much easier and then decide. I'm gona hang on to it for as long as i can, hopefully i won't have to sell it at all. noisedude - It's a premium, natural gloss finish over swamp ash. rodl2005 - what do you mean the bass side of the pickup? would that be the neck side? how do i know what pole pieces i should adjust? if some strings are louder than others? Thanks a lot for all the help, its really useful
9. wooow that website is amazingly useful. thanks a lot
10. i'm not going for a fender because i have no money and i need the spare money to get me from A to B til i can get a job... Unless i find a Fender that matches or beats the Squire in every way. I was thinking about £300 too, i'll see what i can get though.
11. hmm i didnt think about that actually, thats gona work out fairly expensive and awkward it seems. It's not me playing so i'm not the best person for this but im trying to help out as much as i can. I'll have a chat to the guys about monitoring and how much they're willing to spend too and see what would be the best option. I'll mention the reflefctors too and see if they're intersted Cheeers Ben
12. cheers guys, sounds good. the thing with the G&L is the only sound i like from it is the really zingy trebly sound but for most of the songs im playing it just sounds crap. The rest of the time its just not right. I'm not bothered about it being a squire, if its good i'll play it. I think im only holding on to it cos ive got kinda attached to it... =P i think once i get myself a new job i'll be shifting the G&L and getting the Squire pretty soon afterwards, gona try out the P in the meantime too. how much do you think i should try and sell the G&L for? i bought it for £479 about 2 years ago... its a bit worn but its only visual things. suggestions would be brilliant, thanks for all the help so far
13. Does anybody know if the Sennheiser e608 microphone is wireless? i can't seem to find the answer... The trumpet and sax players in my band are looking for some clip on mics... We're a bit stumped. Does anybody know a thing or 2 about this kinda stuff? We usually have them playing in to a shure sm57 each but they wana move about and what not... It's be for live stuff only, not recording. If anyone can help thatd be fantastic, i know theres some very technical minded people on here sorry if this is in the wrong place too, wasn't really sure where to put it so feel free to move it. Thanks Ben
14. I do wana hold on to it, but i can't afford a new bass unless i sell it and im not happy with the sound... corr its stressful...
15. Hey there, i haven't been on the forum for a while but i thought i'd come back and ask for some help... I have a G&L Tribute L2000, its a gorgeous bass but i can rarely find a sound i like unless it has brand new strings on... and even then it's a challenge... I had a chat with my buddy in the local music shop while trying out the Squire VMF Jazz and he suggested a compressor to try and get rid of some of the horrible boomyness and stupidly high output. But after playing the jazz i'm considering just shifting the Tribute and purchasing the squire, i love the sound of it, it has all the variety i need, it's built nice and solid, looks pretty flash and i did find the smaller neck easier to play... I just get the feeling i'll regret it if i go ahead with this. What do you guys think? Any advice would be fantastic and hugely appreciated. Ben
16. Hey there. For all you folks near Reading who like a bit of ye olde electronica... I'm playing Afrobar next thursday with Pixel H8 Should be fantastical, it's free and theres food, so what have you got to lose? s'all good, i highly recommend you attend... but then i would PM me if you are interested in going, i'll come say hi www.myspace.com/stinglikeabutterfly if you wana check it out beforehand
17. i'm very fond of those trabens... you must make quite an impression on stage with that lot. very very nice though.
18. corr i wants one of them now... that looks top notch i must say. It looks futuristic without being tacky at all, rather lovely.
19. Yea i like the DCs too, but cant stand the longhorns, they remind me of vikings... from what ive heard i like the sound, bit trebly if i remember right... not played one though so can't really say...
20. it looks like an accident...
21. now i want a fender jaguar...in red... even though i cant figure out what all the buttons and knobs do, i dont care, i'll have fun finding out.
22. i have a multi stand thing which i keep the less used ones on, and a single one which i can carry around the house whne i move about if i need to... i have a few just leaning in corners and things too... i don't trust wall hangers, not after my bass fell off and crushed my guitar.
23. that is rather lovely looking, i have seen them around a bit but no idea what they are, i'd go with what wateroftyne said
24. same here, everyones out to get each other and rip each other off, you have to find bands you can stick with and just work together otherwise you'll get ripped apart. Promoters mostly aren't worth bothering with, theres one or two that are cool but everyone just puts on their own gigs with some other bands and we do all the promotion ourselves. Nobody likes ska anymore...
25. i want a fender aerodyne jazz and an akai deep impact and a fender jaguar bass in red, with maple fretboard a musicman stingray, in red with matching headstock, maple board and black pickguard... but im too poor.
