Mesa Subway d800+ repair and replacement parts
columbusrobbie replied to columbusrobbie's topic in Repairs and Technical
Sincere thanks to Chris @Beedster, Steve @Steve Browning and Andy @agedhorse for your input on this. Amp now booked in for diagnosis and repair (hopefully) with Stan/Surrey Amps. Will come back and update in due course. Best regards. -
Mesa Subway d800+ repair and replacement parts
columbusrobbie replied to columbusrobbie's topic in Repairs and Technical
Cheers @Beedster 👍 In fairness to Mesa, that was the position 4-5 months ago when my saga started and it may well have changed in the meantime. Certainly hope so. I will contact them again and hope Andy does drop by too. I’ve only just retrieved the (unrepaired) amp back so I am effectively starting over. For now though, I have an expensive paperweight sat in the corner of the room. At least it isn’t taking up any space to really speak of. -
Does the collective wisdom have any suggestions or advice for a broken amp? Apparently Mesa won’t release schematics for these and there are no approved repairers in the UK at present. The head has been looked at by a former authorised repairer as once listed on the Mesa website. Broken treble and master volume controls have been diagnosed but spares unavailable to him. When it first happened, and prior to getting it looked at here, I contacted Mesa who were helpful up to a point but were effectively only offering a factory diagnosis and possible repair. Is this really my only option? Has anyone had similar and found an easier route to resolution? Cheers in advance.

I bought Phil’s Mesa Subway D800+ and ultra lite cab. Phil is a gent and, as has been said by others, an absolute pleasure to deal with. A reassuring, swift and easy transaction.

Bought a Bear Leather guitar strap off Paul. Good comms and arrived really quickly and in fantastic condition. Well packed etc. A super-smooth transaction. Really happy with my purchase. As above, would happily deal with Paul again. Cheers Paul. All the best. - Rob

Tredders kindly rearranged his schedule tonight to enable me to check out the Jack Casady. In a rare head over heart moment I decided to pass on the JC for the time being while I wrestle with the idea of adding a third semi acoustic to my collection. It's a sweet bass and any buyer would be extremely pleased with their purchase. I also took the opportunity to check out the Takamine and this, too, is lovely. As above, anyone looking for one of these would be a very happy purchaser. It is mint. I didn't dare try the Jazz for fear of walking away with another for the fleet. All pics and the descriptions by Tredders above are bang on the money. He's also the perfect host - great coffee! Cheers Tredders. Good luck with the sale(s) ............and you might yet get a call from me re: the JC

Just bought Bob's CIJ 62 P-Bass and have to concur with all the positive comments made so far. He's the real deal and, based on my own experience, I'd say go ahead and buy from him/deal with him in complete confidence. A really nice guy who was extremely easy to deal with. I was overwhelmed by just how good the condition of this bass is in, such was Bob's critical eye in his description of it in the ad. This meant there were no nasty surprises upon seeing it, especially having commited myself to buying it. That's no bad thing in my view and simply means you don't need to think twice when dealing with him. Cheers Bob. As you know, I am very happy with this bass and with the transaction. I hope the feedback reflects this. All the best matey. - Rob

My pleasure matey and many thanks for setting up some feedback for me. Much appreciated. Gave it a spin in rehearsals last night. Really enjoyed playing it and it sounded great. It means the American Jazz is in serious danger of being completely relegated to subs bench alongside the others. I might have to seriously think about moving some stuff on.....

Cheers Bobby. An extremely honest description in your ad means there were no nasty surprises upon seeing the bass. Condition is much better than I thought I would be. I simply can't convey how happy I am with this. It was great to meet you and many thanks for the quick Andy Rourke technique lesson! Hope gigs generally pick up really soon but all the best for the upcoming tour.

+1 to the last three comments. I'm still new to this forum but like what I see. It's a great resource. If I were looking to buy from you I would actually be impressed by your feedback rather than concerned. You appear to be a genuine seller prepared to go the extra mile when you can. Maybe put this one down to experience but don't regard your feedback as having gone "belly up". Far from it.
