  1. That looks awesome, nice one!
  2. Mine was ordered Dec 24th and arrived last Thursday, so reckon you'll be good.
  3. Mine arrived Thursday. Wow! Mine keeps opening in the Thunderbird section for some reason...those colours!
  4. Think Flock of Seagulls are named after part of the lyric from Toiler on the Sea by the Stranglers.

Bought a nice Fender combo from Mark. Comms were very good and he was obviously very interested in making sure that it arrived with me in tip top order. Unfortunately, despite being well packaged, the gain pot got damaged in transit and Mark was gutted by this turn of events. I managed to get it sorted locally to me and it now sounds fab, looks great and with a very smart faux leather cover to boot. I'm very pleased with it and you should buy from Mark with confidence!👍👍👍 Thanks Mark!
  6. Is this a Basschat thread resurrection record?😁 Broken Stones is a great song and a nice groove.
  7. Doh!
  8. Vinyl wrap do you think?
  9. Bought a couple of books form Mick - great comms, books arrived promptly, well wrapped and as new. Had good craic too! All the best Mick!
  10. Just been listening to Chris Squire's playing on Yours Is No Disgrace - the combination of clank and depth. JJ Bunel on Rattus and particularly Black and White. Jack Bruce on the live tracks on Goodbye Cream
  11. Six at the mo, with some pruning imminent as I think some focus on actually playing rather than looking/buying would be in order! Cast in order of appearance: Fender Precision MIM Gibson Thunderbird iv Limelight '64 Jazz Fender Roadworn Precision Yamaha BB425x Custom NR Thunderbird
  12. I liked Ultravox's earlier phase with John Foxx, particularly the punky Ha, Ha, Ha where the bass is to the fore.
  13. Tend to use Spotify for ease of use and to try things out, but then buy stuff on CD (occasionally vinyl) if I like it. Reasons for buying are that I still like a physical product and there is a bit of wanting to make sure the artist is remunerated "properly". Note the parenthesis...
  14. Very sad to hear this. RIP Chas.
  15. Met up with Nik today as he personally couriered his NR Thunderbird way up north. He really went beyond the call of duty to ensure that the bass got delivered in one piece. We had a coffee and a chat about all things bass and plenty more besides. The complete gent and a great person to deal with - I heartily recommend Nik. Oh and the bass...it's awesome. I'm stoked, thanks Nik!
  16. Smote Reverser by Thee Oh Sees. Awesome stuff!
  17. Our rehearsal rooms were flooded about 18 months back, so there is (an admittedly only slight) a damp smell. Good advice here re volumes used for rehearsals
  18. Ah yes, Loudness. I got the "Iggy remix/remaster" of Raw Power. Search and Destroy in particular, became deafeningly loud as opposed to a bit mushy and idiosyncratic. Preferred the original.
  19. There's the Gretsch G5265, a baritone with a 30 inch (well, 29.75) scale and a 43mm nut.
  20. Boxcar Riders last year - Sean (now left the band), Andy, Jane, yours truly and Geoff - outside York's Istanbul Grill (recommend the Veggie pizza!)
  21. Hmmm. All those other products he has available (Samsung S7 Edge, Asus Zenbook, Keter Factor Outdoor storage shed...!) are all the same price as the Ricky, £455.
  22. Picked up a Yamaha BB425X from Chris's house last week while en route to our jolly holidays. Chris is a great guy, hospitable and indulgent with me having a go through his thunderous rig. The bass? Exactly as described. Deal with confidence - thanks Chris!!
  23. And then Cataldo do a couple of variants...the ahem, Big Bottom or an NR bird shape.
  24. And a bit of that...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuPMjS0y68s
