1.
Just returned from my lovely new Thunderbird - my first - and I tried it in a strap as soon as I got through the door. It just hung there, no head dive, and I had deliberately chosen to use a plastic backed Fender strap, to minimum friction to hold it up. The bass also happens to look and sound amazing, can't believe I've waited so long to get my hands on one, but glad I didn't wit any longer! The T Bird will be gigged tonight!
So which one did you get Dave?
2. We have considered adding Mustang to our repertoire. Got to give the public what they want
3. Wow, that looks beautiful!
4. As others have said, their earlier blues based stuff is great and Full House is one of my favourite live albums. Like BRX says, they helped keep things exciting before punk. RIP JG
5. Have to do that "must resist" thing every time I see one of your ads Tom.
6. I'm puzzled. I understood that to make a stance like Gibson's stick, they had to have made efforts to protect their trademark headstock/body shape or whatever (hence the approach Ric have taken). Various manufacturers have been making eg Les Paul copies for decades.
7. Great call - love the O'Jays. Trouble is, I'm supposed to be working, not grooving
8. Hey, thanks for bumping. Just added a couple to a great list!
9. Rattlesnakes - Tori Amos (no disrespect to the original) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FWoJS_VTPI
10. Too shy - Kajagoogoo. Quelle fromage!
11. Very sad news - condolences. Winos, Rhinos and Lunatics was a favourite.
12. Tina Weymouth, Phil Lynott and Paul Gray (Eddie and the Hot Rods phase) for me.
13. Any larger estate should be fine. I've just run a Mondeo for 5 years, Passat, Octavia, Superb all quite acceptable with good reliability records and cheap to buy and run (except maybe the Passat). Larger estate rather than lifestyle - BMW 3 series, Insignia and A4 all look a bit pokey in the back to me, though all good cars in their way. I'm now running a V70 which is great for lugging and, equally important, has lovely seats
14. That is very nice! Sort of updated-retro looking. I've just obtained an Epi body to use as a base, though it has been stripped and will need painting. I'm hunter gathering for some nice parts to use. How did you get it to balance - just the Ultralights?
15. Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Oyster Cult
16. Derek and the Dominoes
17. West, Bruce and Laing
18. Beck Bogart and Appice
19. Saw John Otway and his band last night at the Shire Hall in Howden in front of a smallish crowd. A good humoured evening with some good songs and audience participation.
20. REM and the Smiths...I missed their 80's output completely until later. Embarrassing but there you go. The early REM stuff is very listenable. By "early", I guess I mean anything up to Monster. IMHO of course Great clip from 1983 btw
21. I'm only squinting on my phone, but a great piece of work Grassie!
22.
Yes, I was wondering about that. I can see that Henry "Hank" Cosby is quoted, but I'm not sure where Bill Cosby comes into it. Are they related?
Quoted from Carole's timeline: " And Bill Cosby would join in on tambourine for his TV show music."
23. I saw this last December in the shop and was intrigued. Is it a bit more purplier than the photo suggests? Lovely bass, glad it survived the floods! Wonder if the Shergold that was hanging up next to it did too?
24. Just traded my Gretsch bass with Julian in return for his lovely Limelight Jazz. He traveled a good distance to meet me en route to a holiday, which was very accommodating. Really nice bloke, great to deal with. Recommended!
