  2. I was lucky enough to get a Fender urban shortscale bass gigbag before they were discontinued. It doesn't give a massive degree of protection, but is perfect for taking a JMJ mustang bass on the back seat of the car. In a previous band I used to take my Squier SS Jaguar bass to the rehearsal studio on the bus every week in it. I wouldn't use it for gigs where gear is chucked into the back of the van though - I have a couple of Fender mustang hard cases for that. Not cheap but I managed to get a good deal on each of them.

  7. I'm away from home with my JMJ and forgot to bring my allen keys. I will probably need to adjust the saddles as I'm going to set it up and add a shim. I found a thread on TB where the consensus was that a 1.5mm is the best fit, I found a 1.5mm but its too small and the 2mm is way too big, so presumably I'll need an imperial one. Does anyone know what size I need to get?

  13. My first bass amp was a secondhand head with a graphic eq and built in flanger. The flanger sounded terrible and added a lot of hiss.

  16. I use an IK multimedia iRig Keys with an iPad. I have various apps including Model D (MiniMoog), iMS20 (Korg MS20), ODYSSEi (ARP Odessey) & Yonnac Kauldron which is great for funny noises. For polyphonic sounds I use iM1 (Korg M1) & Galileo (Hammond B3 Organ). If you already have a decent iPad (or iPhone) this might be the most cost effective approach.
