An unorthodox Squier JV
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to Welshbassist's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
That must have seemed like a good idea at the time, perhaps after a few drinks. -
It very much depends on the bass. Daphne blue on a mustang. Alpine white on a thunderbird Transparent red on a mahogany bodied semiacoustic or clear transparent on a maple bodied semiacoustic black on a steinberger (or hohner) cricket bat Then each bass/colour will need a specific pickguard colour (if it has a pickguard of course) to complete the look...

I won't post a link to the actual listing <whisper>as it is on gumtree not ebay<whisper> This looks like there was an attempt at a sunburst and instead they invented the explosive diarrhea burst™ btw - its listed at £270 for some reason which is surely a little optimistic

Did Bruce Springsteen ever recipricate by doing a song with the bass out of tune called "The hardest working man in showbusiness?"
-
nice - it'll go with pretty much anything

Another drummer stealing the show.

By the expression on his face it looks like someone slipped something into his apple juice -
What colour did you get?

I've used my yellow righton with my bullet mustang for a few days now and I'm a convert - it looks great, is really comfortable to wear and the pleckie holders are more handy than I expected them to be. This one would go nicely with my white thunderbird

Baby sues dead man and chums over genitalia failure

No, but the car's exhaust pipe wasn't on display so it wasn't pornographic. -
Baby sues dead man and chums over genitalia failure
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to upside downer's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps he previously wasn't too concerned about the pic, however more recently whenever he'd meet a young lady and start dating she'd have no idea of his former fame, but then when they were about to get intimate he'd strip off and she'd take one look and say "hey - your winky looks just like the kid's on the Nevermind cover" -
Galli strings - any experience?
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to franzbassist's topic in Accessories and Misc
I use their flatwound ubass set they make for kala https://www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/kala-ukulele-bass-flatwound-strings-made-by-galli-strings/ They are well made strings with a smooth feel and manage to give a deep and thumpy tone to the ubass, but as they have a synthetic core these might not be representative of their longer-scale offerings. -

I bought the yellow strap with a black go-faster stripe as it goes with my yellow mustang and is comfy. I'm not sure yet whether it is actually vegan as it has so far refused to eat anything I have offered it.

My banana yellow righton strap has arrived for my banana yellow mustang and I'm very chuffed with it. I had been using an old comfort strapp with the guitar for the few days since I got it but this Righton strap is just as comfy and the colour is pretty much spot-on.

Is your cab the same make as your head?
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to Friskydingo's topic in Amps and Cabs
My socks don't even match most days. I do like having a strap that matches (or at least co-ordinates with) the colour of the I'm playing bass though. For amp & cab I own a Markbass LMII and a Schroeder 1212L but I don't use them with my current band as they already had a lovely Ashdown ABM rig when I joined so I play through that. -
What's up with the neck on this?
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I wonder whether any horrors reside beneath the pickguard - like an oversized chiseled-out hole for a precision pickup or worse? -
I've always been in the plonky brigade - I was using flatwounds in the 80s

There is a yellow couch strap which looks similar, but I went for the Righton as it looks like it'll be more comfy.

I had an SF300 Super Fuzz delivered pedal yesterday to go with my new guitar which was also delivered. I have a few behringer pedals and have given away some but I can't believe how good this little orange fuzz box sounds for £21.

I've just ordered vegan strap. Does anyone know how I should cook it?

I've checked my telecaster and it looks like I must have fitted a switchcraft in it when I first bought it, so it'll only be the pots & capacitor swapped out when I get around to doing it. I received a new Squier bullet mustang today so I have put the pure tone socket in that to replace the stock one so it won't get a chance to play up. In use its not a lot different to a switchcraft. The stock one was, as expected of the design that will eventually lose its springyness - shown below (with a switchcraft in the background for comparison) shortly before being binned. I wonder how long before the pots & switch will also need replacing...

You can link your nectar card with ebay to earn points on everything you buy, and once it is linked you can also use your points to pay for items after converting them to eBay vouchers in 500 point increments where 500 points is worth £2.50. My Mustang cost me 28000 nectar points plus £1.55 from my PayPal account.

My new geetar (paid for with nectar points) has arrived. I felt it might need something extra to make it sound like it looks, so I ordered a pedal as well. The guitar is a FSR Squier bullet mustang in grafitti yellow. The neck is wider and flatter than my telecasters, but it is still comfy to play due to the shorted scale length. Out of the box the set up was pretty good, I've only needed to lower the B & high E strings a little so far and will give it a more precise setup once I've had it a while. The ceramic humbuckers sound surprisingly good especially with the pedal which also arrived today. The Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz pedal is a dead-on recreation of the discontinued Boss FS-2 Hyper Fuzz which in turn was a recreation of the even longer discontinued Univox Super Fuzz. The guitar & fuzz pedal sound great together and I'm dead chuffed with them.
