  1. You can fit a set of Gotoh res-o-lite GB640 to your Vintera 60s Jazz. These should fit without needing to redrill and they will be lighter than the stock tuners. They won't turn the wrong way like the stock tuners do unless you mistakenly order the GB640R (reverse) version. They should cost a few quid over £100. I bought my sets from tonetech.
  2. I have two favourites: The hipshot HB7 lollipops on my vintera & JMJ mustangs look great and work exactly as a tuner should. The Gotoh res-o-lite GB640s sets I put on my Thunderbird vintage pros not only look great and work perfectly, they are also ultra light and are the only ones I know of in this vintage 50s/60s style that turn the same way as the tuners on all of my other basses.

  11. My preference for both the behringer clone and the LMB-3 is to have all the knobs pointing north as it is easy to remember and sounds best to my ears. I use a Boss SY-1 synth which I guess is in a similar ballpark to your SYB-5. I have that pedal first in the chain with my thumpinator immediately after, the LMB-3 after that, and then a couple of dirt pedals last. Putting the synth first helped with it triggering smoothly and eliminating glitches.

  17. If you don't like the stock vintage pro pickups you might need some of these 😉 ...Or maybe change strings. I play flatwounds exclusively and have settled on EB Cobalt flats on my vintage pros, which sound massive.
  18. Nice! — the byrds inlay looks great. Despite the appearance, the bisonic pickup is actually a single coil. The four screwheads are for adjusting the height of each adjacent pole piece. I have a flamed natural maple starfire II and the pickups have a wonderful tone.

  23. I have a couple of the Fender mustang bass hardcases and one of the discontinued Fender short scale 'urban' gigbags, so the one that came with this bass is unlikely to be used. I think a nice torty pickguard might have been a worthwhile alternative for the daphne blue one.
  24. Isn't modern logistics great when it works. I ordered a Black JMJ mustang online just before 3pm yesterday and it was delivered safely just before 11.30am this morning. Two thumbs up for PMT & Parcelforce for this one. The bass came out of the gigbag perfectly set up with the stock Fender flats. It has an MX22 serial and its a very slight disappointment that Fender are still supplying a long scale gigbag rather than a short scale one. I had heard that an extra black pickguard was supplied with these when they were first available, but I wasn't sure whether that was just for the first batch of black ones, so It was fantastic to find one tucked in the gigbag pocket — I'll probably swap it over at some point. It has pretty much the same feel and tone as my 2018 blue JMJ. I had to smile at the inclusion of a document titled 'lacquer finishes: Precautions and care' though.
