  1. The perfect thing to buy a dedicated knobhead
  2. I have a sunburst thunderbird vintage pro and a white one. They are fantastic basses well worth the money. They are big but I swap from my mustangs to my thunderbirds with no problem.
  3. I don't eat meat, so jelly babies won't work for me. 🙁 the James Taylor video looks useful, particularly cleaning the nail with acetone and roughening it before adding anything. My mail uke is a tenor tuned DGBE with baritone strings so playing with nails brightens the tone & helps getting some volume.
  4. Does anyone here have any experience of taking biotin suppliments or applying any kind of (clear) nail varnish/topcoat to strengthen their nails for fingerpicking guitar/ukulele? I'm playing my acoustic tenor guitar quite a lot and I want to improve my right hand technique and tone so I'm going to grow my nails on my right hand. Last time I grew them out for playing ukulele they split/cracked after just a few days so I think I will need to strengthen them this time. Any advice on the best way to make the nails less prone to cracking/spliting?
  5. I think its a dummy bass with a hatch at the back; the second son hides in it whenever there's a knock at the door.
  6. I agree that the body is likely stripped rather than originally natural; I'd expect a natural finish to be over an ash body, but this looks like alder.
  7. I can't understand what is so wrong with using an electric tuner. Are we supposed to use a tuning fork?
  8. b/w/b always just looks right on natural ash. Black pearl never looks good to me.
  9. Depending on the bass I'd take the opportunity to move the 'E' tuner to replace the broken and one and fit a hipshot GB7 bass extender If the bass doesn't deserve a hipshot, you could try posting in the wanted section of this site - someone is bound to have a spare tuner in their bits box that will fit.
  10. Check out Betty Davis, she was briefly married to Miles Davis and made a few extremely funky albums in the 70s.
  11. The new Residents album: Metal Meat & Bone, the songs of dyin' dog
  12. sort out that jarring bum note in Jean Genie please
  13. I have bought quite a few instruments on ebay. I have not had any problems worth mentioning and have managed to pick up a few decent bargains.
  14. It is always pickguard; "Jean-Luc Scratchplate" would be a terrible screen-name.
  15. These are fantastic pickups - mine totally transformed my 81 precision into a tone monster.
  16. Unfortunately the video ends before Kim Jong Un walks on stage as they start playing 'big bottom'
  17. I like my trusty old white polytune clip so much that I bought the black version as well
  18. My missus came out with a good one, she said "you don't need another bass" Actually she says that quite often.
  19. The finish makes it look like its been flayed.
  20. This looks like a classic example of a solution looking for a problem
  21. I'd get a Candy Apple Red one with maple fingerboard if I could get permission to buy another bass. Then again its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
